Walking back into the grand ballroom, Ren was more watchful of the other guests than usual.
Someone was watching, planning and plotting.
Dark work was afoot among these walls tonight.
<font color=lime>"I have a bad feeling about this."

“Bad feeling about what Ren?” The party seemed to be going along great. Kas’ eyes wandered over the crowd, and he spied the newly wed queen. Might as well speak to her sometime…
He began to amble over in her direction.

Jasmine still leaned againt the bartop, slowly draining her glass and then reaching for another one. She was just lowering it from her lips when Kas Katta approached.
She smiled softly, nodding deeply to him.

After breaking away from the large trong of people out to meet Jasmine Zedarr was growing tired of the endless party talk that seemed to be going around. Zedarr excused himself from a small group of people that had gathered around when discussion matters turned to that of taxing the republic. Zedarr didn't want to deal with it and wasn't going to deal with it at this time.
Working his way around the edge of the ballroom Zedarr saw someone important, possibly the most important person at the event. With champagne in hand Zedarr moved up to the table behind Ayanna and took a seat beside her.
"I trust everyone here is having a good time."

"Something wrong Ren?"
Dakkon smiled as he appeared from behind his most trusted soldier and friend.
"Never mind. Something big is happening tonight for you, if you are willing to accept the offer. Just wait."
As Dakkon walked to the raised base of the massive staircase he made eye contact with Jasmine, who sat by the bar. Smiling, he reached the 'summit' and already had everyones attention.
"Good evening Guests. Tonight we have come together to celebrate many things, the longevity of the Monarchy, and more importantly, the ascencion of my wife, Jasmine, to the throne of Hapes as its newest Queen Mother, and 2nd in the Darksword Family line!"
A resounding cheer erupted from the assembled throng, among them many other Hapan aristocrats.
"But tonight, i must ask you to celebrate on other thing. Ren Janggar has served Hapes for nearly as long as the Darksword Family has ruled. His efforts have been both publicised as well as hidden. He apprehened the traitor Akinyelle Daala and has served as my right hand through thick and thin. And for that, among other things, Hapes has decided to honour him with a reward that has only been bestowed 10 times in the entire history of the Cluster.
Ren Janggar please ascend the stairs."
The Crowd parted for Ren as he approached and climbed the stairs. He then proceded to bow before the Crown Prince. Dakkon then was handed an ornate blade of tempered steel and jewels. He placed the sword on Rens right shoulder, then his left.
"Kneel Ren Janggar, and rise Sir Ren Janggar, Defender of the Cluster, Knight of the Realm and honour bound to protect the Queen Mother with his life."
The jublient crowd cheered, honouring the man who had given his life to serve Hapes.

Jasmine had put her glass down and cheered for Ren. When she caught his glance, she offered him a smile and deep nod, showing her approval to him.
This party had indeed turned into one of many things to celebrate.

What a wonderful time it had become, and to think, Aurora had almost not come at all, how mad!
The heated argument she had got into with her brother almost felt like a waste of time and energy, oh, but how untrue that was!
The pleasure she took from seeing her older brother go mad, it brought wondrous moments of enjoyment to her. Though most indubitably, those were only times of play. Dakkon, however, did not see such play, more of a nuisance, really.
She watched him now, standing there, a royal prince in every way. Oh how Aurora adored her brother! Her admiration for him he often overlooked.
Not once had Dakkon looked her way during this glorious party, not once! She imagined that he had not yet gotten over their little squabble.
Eight years apart in age they were, something that rarely went unnoticed between both siblings. Dakkon often reminding her just who was older, it always made her annoyed, and him, happy.
Aurora kept to herself throughout most of the party, unwilling at first to have come, she had not wanted to take part in much conversation, she regretted not mingling. Seeing her brother so happy as he was, was worth more than gold to her.
She stood astray from the others as she continued to watch the celebrated events unfold.

Ayanna and Cora had spent quite awhile getting to know eachother and they were becoming better friends all the while. Ayanna was in the midst of talking about the one person that meant the most in her life, Zedarr, when he pulled up a chair beside her. A smile crept across her face.
"I trust everyone is having a good time." he said with a smile. Ayanna's gaze shifted to Cora then back to Zedarr, "Actually we've been enjoying this party very much, though its a little to formal for my taste." she then pointed to Cora, "Zedarr, I'd like you to meet Cora Layne, Cora I'd like you to meet Zedarr Darksword, my husband."

"Its a pleasure to meet you,"Cora said. Cora leaned on the table and sipped the Hapan champagne leisurely as she exchanged pleasantries with Zedarr.

With a smile, Dakkon clasp Ren on the shoulder, before rejoining the crowd. He noticed Aurora off to one side and, as she turned away, snuck up on her. With the pleasure of a big brother, no matter his status, his hands snaked out in a semi combination grab/tickle around her waist. As he did so, her squeals brought a smile, then laughter to his face.
"Sister, you really shouldn't leave your guard open like that in these uncertain times!"
