I'm listening to an odd mix of The Beatles (She was a daaaay tripper), Type O Negative (She was a daaaay tripper... a la goth) and Mr. Bungle (alas, no day tripper here).

R'n'B mixture today:

Jill Scott (beautifully Human album),
Erykah Badu-Baduizm,
Prodigy - Always out numbered, never outgunned,
Angie Stone - Mahogany Soul,
James Brown , and some Barry White... (yeah baby)

Well, I suppose the exception there is The Prodigy, heh

Radiohead: OK Computer (is this the new fad?)
Coheed and Cambria: The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Hey Mercedes
The Shins
A random mix of a bunch of other bands Theren wouldn't approve of.

That new Greenday Album - American Idiot. I've heard a few of the songs and like it.
Oh and I'd really like to have the new Matthew Good cd but I haven't been able to find it ANYWHERE aside from online (and i don't have a credit card).

You know what Hyfe I gotta be honest with you, I deeply approve of your affection for the Postal Service. I would jerk off the guy from Postal Service.

Because the way that guy is singing, you know the indie kids don't approve and you know the screamo kids think it's too mellow and you know the emo kids think it's too manly, and you know that back in the day -- before some jackass on the OC started listening to Death Cab -- they were calling him a faggot.

Green Day sucks a cock though, you're way fucking off base there, I don't care if it's cool to sing about politics now or if it's a concept CD, they're not The Who and American Idiot isn't Tommy. And speaking of "shit that makes no sense but we all pretend it does" where do Green Day get off calling American Idiot a concept album? I've heard the whole CD, I don't care if "the Jesus of Suburbia is a lie", that whole concept album shit was held together thinly at best. At fucking best. Mostly hype and shit. And they're talking about a movie? Horses ass. At least Issac Brock had the balls to admit the movie he was planning for Moon and Antarctica was bullshit and there was no storyline behind that CD. Jesus Christ. Am I right here?

Oh yeah and Antics kicks ass, that's easily the best sophomore album in recent memory. Way to fucking go for Interpol, really, for such a young band to deal with all that hype and put it all together for a release like that was just fucking mature beyond their years or experience. They're over the hump now and they're only gonna get better. Anyone who doesn't like Interpol right now, start listening before your friends do, guaranteed they're going to blow up by the time album three or four hits, they're going to make Matador a fucking millionaire label in the States (which is good because all sorts of indie bands just might flood the market). Already they're probably the biggest indie band in the world. Antics is next to the Christina Aguilera CD at my Music World and the fucking CD was released on MATADOR for Christ sakes. Matador may be big for an indie label but it's unprecedented. Great band. I'm done for now. Bye.

Listening to: lots of "punk rock" emotive bullshit that has the total combined intelligence of a mud brick and a wet rag.

Why?

If you ignore everything but the sounds - it's halfway decent.

American Idiot - Greenday
White Light Rock & Roll Review - Matthew Good

Both absolute genious. If you don't have them, buy them.

Eve 6, Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, Metallica, Blink 182, Our Lady Peace, some others

Ben Gibbard was an acclaimed indie artist with Death Cab for Cutie before the Postal Service side project ever got started. I'm sure the emo and screamo kids don't dig his voice but I've never heard anything about him having trouble being accepted in the indie scene. And I like the Postal Service because it is different and cheesy and fun, not because the singers voice is genre defiant or because I think the music is revolutionary.

About Green Day. I never listened to them before. I don't really even know what their old music sounds like or what their deal is. I've just heard 2 or 3 songs off the new album and liked them. Sue me.

I've also been listening to a lot of Tom Petty and a new band called Motion City Soundtrack.

I think I will check out Interpol. Just because Gash says I should.

Demo: I'm not sure if you're talking about more of the Goldfinger type punk or the more new-age pop-punk emo nerdy stuff, but check out The Get Up Kids - Something to Write Home About or Motion City Soundtrack for the later.

Put some sugar on it.
