Two Paths Meet At Last (All Lightsiders and Friends)

" Hold still would you?"

" I can't help it Anara, I'm as scared as a male garden spider during mating season." said Kate.

The blue Twi'lekian female laughed softly," Yeah well, I'm almost done lacing ya up back here." Finaly, she finished threading the last loop and tied Kate's dress. " There."

Together the two looked at Kate's image in the three mirrors which surrounded the small, circular step Kate stood on. " God, I almost don't recognize myself." said Kate, yet there she stood.

The gown Kate wore was made out of Hapan silk, the rich cream coloured fabric flowed softly down to the floor and a few feet past, trailing out and pooling softly behind her, the gown itself flared out subtly, beginning from the hip and ending on the floor , the beaded bodice hugged her frame, but the neck line was not as low as would have been expected for the young rogue, blades. Instead, it fell just short of showing off cleavage, but the back, was to be expected seeing as it dipped nearly to her buttocks and laced up to mid back, just below the shoulder the sleeves, as with the bodice, were beaded as well, intricate floral designs gracing the fabric, and flared out from the shoulder subtley at first before forming a 1 ft. diameter bell-like shape. Just for the fun of it, Kate lifted the skirt and looked at the six inch heels the wore which had ankle straps, the shoes were made out of Hapan satin and were quite comfortable.

" Alright, miss priss, let's finish ya up..." said Anara who walked around to Kate's frontside and picked up a small black box which sat on a nearby seamstress's stool. She opened it up carefully and pulled out a choker made from a spare strip of the same material as the gown, and from it hung a sapphire embedded in a white gold setting, the sapphire seemed to glow a soft, and warm dark blue, the same colour as Kate's eyes. " Here, a little gift I found for you." She said as she gently got up on the step and slipped the choker on Kate's neck, stepping back and nodding in approval. " There..."

Kate smiled softly, biting back a tear as she looked at her image again. She looked like a totally different person, with her attire, her hair done up in bun, with ringlets and small white flowers encompassing the bun, her choker, the sheer veil which she placed over her face. She then looked out the window and saw fireworks gracing the sky. " Oh my..Anara! We'd better run to the church. I can't believe it..I'm going to be late to my own wedding." she cried.

Anara laughed and grabbed Kate's train as well as their cloaks, Anara's being black to match the dark blue gown she herself wore and Kate's being an off-white. " Typical Toran style yes?" she said as they both dashed out the door to the lift which they took down to the ground level and the two darted out to the speeder. Kate ran to the driver's side, then relaized it was going to be near impossible," Switch!" the two cried in unison and they swaped spots, with Kate getting into the passenger's side, pulling in the train of her gown in with her and Anara hoping into the drivers seat.

Anara gunned the Nubian speeder's engines and the two sped off to the church, getting there in enough time to dive into the back with ten minutes to spare.

Kamon stood at the entrance to one of the side doors at the church. He was checking to make sure he had everything. The rings were already given to the bearer. Kamon looked in the mirror.

He straigtened his suit a little and the silver silk shirt showed a little more. He straightened his hair some and looked around. Gash was already standing in fron waiting. There were a lot of people sitting out there. Kamon turned to Kenshin.

"How do I look? Everything straight?"

"Yup. Everything good to go."

Besides, Kamon would be fine. He had probably been to weddings and such formal gatherings.

Now this was a first for Kenshin and Kenshin in a suit was definitely a once in a lifetime sight. The young man usually stayed out of this sort of thing and being a Jedi, he had a liable excuse to do so.

However, it wasn't in his grain to let down a friend and this time the cards dealt landed him in the position as Kamon's best man.

Standing next to Kamon, Kenshin couldn't help but wonder how he ended up here. But there was a first for everything. He supposed being in the position he was in now checked off two things in his life's to-do list.

The first time I participate in a wedding, I'm best man. This was bound to be somewhat uncomfortable right?

But everything was going fine so far. Kenshin decided he would make it out okay.

Kate slid a single finger under one of her eyes and took a couple of breaths to steady herself.

" Relax, you'll do fine." said Anara.

As Kate adjusted her dress and made herself look good, she turned to Anara," How do I look?"

" Like a queen...now, come on, it'll take us at least five minutes to get the train set out..." said Anara.

Sure enough, the back doors of the church were closed as Anara and Kate prepped in the back.

Just as Anara had nearly gotten Kate's train set out, a series of whistles and beeps emitted from behind them as Trouble( a dark green and gold R2 unit) and C-4PO, Anara's protocol droid ,showed up, both deck out in blue and white streamers.

" 'Bout time you two showed up." said Kate.

" Forgive us Miss Toran..Trouble decided to get into trouble."

A short sharp beep came from the little R2 unit.

" Excuse me, why I should..."

" Enough, the both of you." said Anara.

" Hmph, just wait until the reception, you little bucket of bolts." said C-4PO

A series of beeps came from Trouble which amounted to a mechanical laugh.

The two droids lined up in front, Trouble at the start with C-4PO right next to him. Then Anara and then Kate.

" Am I late?"

Kate spun just in time to come face to face with a man who stood about '5'11, towering slightly over her. His face was worn but still held rather roguish features, his dark blonde hair was cut short, but his ocean blue eyes sparkled with pride. " D..d..daddy?"

" What, you think I'd let my little girl go without a fight?" he said, flashing her one of his roguish smiles.

" B..B..I.." said Kate, a bit shocked and stunned..it had been almost ten years since she last saw him, but he hadn't changed a bit, well..maybe a little more muscular and all the more dashing in his black pants, cream colored blouse tucked neatly into the waist, his spit shined black boots. He took Kate's arm and smiled," You look better then I thought." he said.

Kate turned to face forward again, shocked, but feeling as if this day couldn't get any better.

Kamon took a deep breath and turned to Kenshin.

"Ok, let's go. You first."

Kenshin nodded and opened the door and walked in. Almost everyone in the room turned to look at him. Kamon followed after his friend and they stood in front of Gash. Kamon in the middle so he could be next to Kate.

Nodding to Gash he gave him a quick mental note to make it quick. Kamon didn't know how long he could last with everyone staring at him like this.

Nodding somewhat numbly, Kenshin opened the door and walked in. As he expected, everyone in the room turned towards his direction. Kenshin could already feel his insides wither at the crowds scrutiny.

However, sensing Kamon step up behind him gave him a bit of relief and the young man managed to keep up a bright expression.

Besides, the famous Rogue Jedi Master Gash Jiren was right behind him. Not a good time to loose face.

Nathaniel Somir, Prince of the Shadow Empire, though he did not claim such, had not been to a social engagement since his quest against the Dark Lord had begun all those years ago. The fact that he was even invited surprised the Jedi Master. Now, however, since his quest seemed to be at it's end he found himself with not only the time, but the will to attend such a festive celebration.

Upon the table, which was already laden with gifts, the Jedi Master placed a chest. The chest held jewels from many different worlds, precious metals which had been forged into coins, many actually having been etched with his profile and name, and two Jedi Bracelets of Union. He hoped that they did not find the coins to be conceited of him, but rather took their more personal meaning.

The bracelets of Union had been created by the Jedi Master Slavatio. He had forged and blessed them, in the ancient ways, and they would serve to connect the two lovers through the Force more strongly than otherwise possible. Slavatio, having been unable to attend, sent with the Jedi Master his best wishes for their long and happy union.

At the right time, Nathaniel would inform the happy couple of such. For now, however, he made his way into the room which would house the ceremony itself and took a seat in the rear, attempting not to interrupt, since he was already late.

Corran swore as he ran down the hallways of the church. He was late. He skidded to a halt right in front of the large table that held loads of beautifal gifts. Pausing for a second he reached into his pocket and brought out 2 items in velvet pouches, one for the bride, one for the groom.

Corran hoped Kamon and Kate would be surprised by his gifts. Corran slowed as he entered the room in which he would be able to watch one of his best friends be married. Corran took a seat at the back as well opposite Master Somir. Then he settled down to watch the proceedings.

The back doors of the church opened wide, first out of the door was Trouble, Kate's little astro droid then came C-4PO next to him. Both added a bit of humor to the scene, with streamers draped off of the two and Trouble blowing rose petals from two little baskets hanging from his sides. Next came Anara, the sapphire blue dress hugging the woman's athletic frame, her head tails pulled back and out of way, she carried a bunch of dark red roses. The three took their places at the altar off to the side.

Then, as the bridal march began to play, Kate glanced up at her dad and the two began to walk down the aisle. What a pair the two made, with Marcus walking proud and tall, Kate's posture to match. The resemblance was more then obvious, the features, the air about them.( Not to mention, her dad would rival Han Solo in looks, hence where Kate got her roguish-but-gorgeous appearence) Finaly, the two stopped at the alter and waited for the ceremony to begin.

Gash stood before the congregation, smiling slightly. He wore his most ceremonial blue robes; while some leaders wore garish garments made of foreign silks, Gash's robe was the rough, navy blue garment of an Asthentian. His clothes were simple, underneath the robe. Yet, despite the unremarkable nature of what he wore, those who did not know him might believe he was born for the role of an aristocrat and politician, for he bore the title well.

He received Kamon's signal for a short exchange of vows. Luckily, he had never really paid much attention to the demands others placed on him.

"In the ancient Jedi society," Gash began, his clear, Imperially-accented voice carrying easily over the gathered men and women, "It was strictly forbidden for two Jedi to wed. It was understood that a Jedi must devote his or her life to the Force wholly, that they must care about nothing but that and the service to their people."

The Jedi Master looked down at Kamon, a man he'd known for what seemed like the longest time. A man who had risen from Padawan, to Knight, to Master, before his very eyes; who had stayed with the Rogue Jedi Order even through Gash's apparent-demise at Ruusan. Then at Kate, a new friend, though certainly no less valued, after her bravery on Veresh.

"Tradition, it seems, has the ability to be utterly and completely wrong. To me, there is nothing more essential to the condition of all sentients than love. It is what binds us together; it is the very thing which allows the Light Side of the Force to exist, and dominate as it always has. The capacity to love is at every person's core, and without it, we are absolutely nothing. And in order to fully understand this, much perspective is gained through marriage. People are no longer statistics; that woman is some man's wife, that man is some child's father. How can you deprive anyone of the love you have known?"

Gash smiled again. His eyes -- tinted green by colored contacts -- fixed the crowd with a clear stare, one of great intensity. "And so it is that Kamon Vondiranch and Kate Toran are to be wed. If you would repeat 'We do', after me."

"Do you two gathered hereby take each other as your lawfully wedded spouse, to love and cherish?"

"We do."

"Do you two gathered hereby swear to defend and protect your spouse in the love of matrimony?"

"We do."

"Do you two gathered hereby swear to grow in the Force through one another, deepening your bond to the people you serve and one another for all the years of your life?"

"We do."

"And do you two gathered swear to be your partner's lawfully wedded spouse until death do you part?"

"We do."

"If anyone," Gash said, "Can produce a reason that these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace." No one, of course, approached, in the brief moment of silence allotted. "Bring forth the rings."

A young man -- a member of the Rogue Jedi Order -- stepped forward with the two bands of metal borne on a small pillow. The two placed the rings on one another's fingers. "And," Gash added. "If I might add something of my own."

He produced from his back pockets to identical lightsabers, both with glowing white Adegan pommel jewels, and handed them to Kamon and Kate. "These lightsabers are one of a kind, made with Adegan crystals and by the inspiration of the Force. Wherever you two may be in the galaxy, these lightsabers will instantly allow you to know the location of the other, and sense their presence -- that you may always remember that for which you fight."

"Then, by the power vested in me as Sovereign-Elect of Ossus, King-Master of Asthentia, and High Jedi Master of the Rogue Jedi Order, I hereby pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
