End of an Age

Prologue

The time had finally come. The abolishment of what had been built for something more grand. Diete Somir had planned carefully for the events which were already set in motion. His Empire would now grow into an Empire of true fashion. He would serve the New Order in the best way that he could, by serving it directly.

He would not give up the ways of a Sith. That would be like asking one to give up their body from the neck down. No, he was Sith and always would be. However, it was time for the meaning of that to change.

In the old days, in the Golden Age, the Sith needed an absolute ruler. It was customary for a Dark Lord to rule the Empire without question. It was a needed step.. in those days.

Now, however, things were quite different. Now the Sith needed to band together. The Sith no longer needed a Dark Lord at the helm. What they needed, was to work with one another and not against themselves. Maim saw no other way to accomplish this than to abolish the title Dark Lord of the Sith, for all time. He would, as Lord Bane had done, rewrite the ways of the Sith.

If there was ever to be unity among the Sith, they must band together. Maim saw no better way than to unite the leaders of each faction of Sith in a grand Galactic Council. From the seats of that council would come the unity of the Sith. From it's leaders would come strength and power.

Together there was nothing they could not defeat.

Together, they would be unstoppable.

Bast Castle: Vjun

The Dark Lord of the Sith, Diete Somir also known as Lord Maim, sat silently within his converted meditation chambers within his fortress stronghold, Bast Castle. Just beyond the doors stood Noghri and Massassi guards keeping an ever vigilant watch upon their Lord and Master's safety. The Dark Lord's thoughts drifted to the future, envisioning a grand scheme for not only his people, but countless more.

In the years past it was all he could strive for to achieve what he now held. He held not only countless millions of loyal subjects, but the power of the ancients and the title of Dark Lord as well. Now, however, things were going to change.. forever.

Not only would his Empire be changed forever, but the Sith as they were would never be the same again. One way or another, change was coming. Either the Sith would stand, here and now, together as one, or their hatred would prove stronger than their will to survive.

The time for action was at hand. The time of change had come to be. Soon he would no longer carry the title Dark Lord of the Sith. Soon he would be known only as Prince Regent of the Crimson Empire and Procurator of Justice within the New Order. Also soon, with any luck, the Galactic Council of Sith would be formed and begin the unification process. The clans would still be as they were, ruled by their own leaders, learning in their own ways. However, the leaders of each clan would work together in a common goal to wipe the Jedi and their like from the face of the galaxy.

The sound of his doors opening stirred the Prince from his silent meditation. His eyes gazed upon the figure which stood before him. Carnor Jax, Grand Master of the Imperial Royal Guard.

"Come in, Grand Master Jax, I am sure you have a good reason for interupting my meditation."

Carnor Jax, Grand Master of the Imperial Royal Guard, entered the Prince's chambers silently. Upon reaching him, he kneeled to show his allegiance then rose upon being commanded to do so.

"Yes, Prince Maim, the Guardsmen have arrived. I am sending all ranking Royal Guard or higher to the council chambers where they will await your arrival. Also, some of your Sith Students are also here.

There is also the matter of commander Tinel. He has failed in his most recent mission and I request permission to deal with him accordingly."

The Grand Master awaited a reply from the Prince Regent and received it without delay.

"You need not permission to deal with such things, Grand Master Jax. By know you should well know this."

"Yes, Prince Maim. I shall deal with it then with the most expedited care."

Standing, he turned from the Prince's chambers and left silently.

The command tower - Bast Castle

Just outside the doors, however, the commander found that later came sooner than expected. Four Noghri warriors tore the man to shreds before a single sound could be uttered.

.. and justice was served.

Standing silent and at attention, Royal Guardsmen Silk awaited the Grand Master for further instruction.
Back even with the wall, at rigid attention, Silk remained impassive. Almost a statue, he was so unmoving.
Crimson cape draped around him, face hidden behind the helm of the Guard. He held tight to his Force Glaive beneath the cape. Stationary but able to respond at a moments notice.
Traditionally garbed and armed, Silk was totally indistinct from the other guardsmen, except to the trained eye.
Standing at silent attention, he waited...

Sovereign Protector and Royal Guard commander, Kir Kanos, stepped silently into the Council Chambers. A death black cloak flowed around him as paused in the doorway. He wore his ceremonial dress armor for this occasion. It was pure black with crimson trimming.

The helm of his rank hid his face and expression from view. His halt came just before Dioan Silk.

"Guardsman Silk, status report." came the voice over a communications unit mounted within his helm.

"Have our guests yet arrived?"

A quick salute and nod, Silk snapped to attention before Protector Kanos.

"No arrivals yet, Sir. All is clear here, ready and waiting."

Placing one hand behind his back, the other holding the Force Glaive at an angle, Silk questioned of his commander...

"Further orders, Sir?"

Silk was bound for the higher ranks of the Royal Gaud, and he knew it. Every opportunity he had, was taken to prove himself worth it.

"When they do arrive, this room is to be cleared of all occupants. You will stand guard at the door and allow only the Prince Regent, Grand Master Jax, The Mistress Athena, and the guests of the Regent to enter. Understood?"

"As commanded Sir."

Crimson cape fluttering, he stepped back to watch the entrance.

The best among the best, Silk needed no further instruction. His was to follow orders to death, if that was the case.

Dyans Rann, Lord of the Sith, walked down the hallway past the many Sovereign Protectors standing silently on watch. A small cadre of two Royal Guards followed him, sent by the Dark Lord bring him to the meeting. The two Royal Guardsmen took up posts at the door as Lord Rann entered the council chambers.

Though unmoving, Guardsman Silk noted the arrival of the Sith Lord.
The Chamber had been cleared, as per his commanders orders. The lone welcome occupants those of the Royal Guard or the Sith.

His mask hid a look of distain, but he remained silent. Instead he just tracked the motions of this new arrival with the other few present in the Council Chamber.
