Downloading music is theft, or more properly, counterfeit. You're taking the hard work of many people for free.

Killing helpless, wild animals with doe eyes and cute ears is being a good steward. As Theren said, we have destroyed their habitat, and the predators that normally hunt them. Therefor, we must take up the role of the predator, and keep the population in check, as it would normally have been.

If we do not keep the population in check, we will promptly have a bloated deer population on hand (much like we had this year), which will lead to numerous problems. Not the least of these potential problems being a higher risk of disease running rampant through the deer community and problems for the farmers.

The state regulates the amount of deer killed per year, and they make money by selling permits to ordinary citizens. It's a win win situation for them, they make money and they don't have to hire hundreds of state hunters. It's a win win situation for me, because I spend twenty-seven bucks and get seventeen quarts of canned deer meat. It's a loose-win situation for the deer, for while some may die, the rest will have a better chance of surviving naturally because there will be a surplus of food available for them.

In short, we're here, and we have a responsibility. Not fulfilling that obligation would be negligent, which goes against my moral and religious principles.

That actually reminds me of an interesting situation that occured in Indiana a few years ago.

The state banned the hunting of deer because animal rights activists hated the idea of doing so. They thought it was wrong, sadistic, and immoral.

It turns out, the population got so out of control there was not a tree in sight with "low branches" per se, there were corpses of them lining the roads, they were going mad and killing each other, all in all, the entire thing had just completely gotten out of hand. Diseases were spreading, the deer weren't happy, and quite frankly, it was a silly notion. Needless to say, the state reapproved the hunting of deer in regulated amounts and the situation was resolved.

Drayson, please do not compare one's ideas on hunting to their ideas on theft, because the comparison just doesn't work. If he were like the colonel in the Most Dangerous Game then of course I'd agree with you 100% that Kas just isn't right, but someone who hunts isn't necessarily wrong.

Nor does disagreeing with you in one sense necessitate that they are wrong in every sense.

Though on the same note...isn't it a bit odd that a mangina is trying to judge anyone for moral ethics?

I'm not gonna bother saying my opinions on the deer matter any longer. I've gotten it in my head know that when anyone boasts or claims of killing an animal that belongs to a species that has been portrayed by Walt Disney or in cartoons as a cute and fluffy and innocent and harmless animal, at least one woman will come in and berate him.

The name of the original speaker escapes me, but what you said reminded me of the saying,

"Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes."

...Just an aside. Heh.

(Might've been Twain.)

I thought the quote was: "Behind every great man is a great woman."

Ah, I see; my memories were crossed.

Yes, what you quoted was Twain's. Mine was from "Bruce Almighty," of all damn things. Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch myself, not having seen the film.

It sounds as though it would have been one of his cynicisms, anyway; heh. I'm apparently not much of a source for information.

Theren's not even trying anymore...

Kilamblackh, I disagree. What if Martin Luther King had hated Asians? Would anyone have taken him seriously?

What if Ghanda had been an active hunter. Would anyone have listened to him?

It's hard to take someone seriously for something as trivial (in comparison) as stealing (from multi-millionairs) when that same person kills animals for fun...

And none of you should assume to know the artists' opinions on downloading music, either.

Sure, as long as he wasn't actively seeking anti-Asian laws. But you're making a false comparison. This is a fallacious arguement, comparing something totally different to this situation.

Besides, a point is no less relevant because it comes from any kind of person. If Stalin was protesting murder then he had a point, he just wasn't one to talk about not murdering people if he was unable to act in accordance. Are you going to say that murder is okay if he protested it? Simply because he was an incredible source?

Kas isn't arguing that you shouldn't shoot most animals while shooting dear. Nor is he arguing that you shouldn't steal while he steals. What you are suggesting is hypocracy, not skewed morals.

Debate on the given debate, not on a petty issue like "Well he likes to hunt!" That's another fallacy and is detracting from the issue. Is your point so weak that you are unwilling to stay on the appropriate course? Why is he wrong? And don't say because he hunts because hunting is something man has done since their birth, it's something animals do amongst themselves.

Is the tiger wrong for hunting? What about the cheetah? I assume that they are wrong as well?

None of that has to do with the issue, what you are suggesting is that he disagrees with you on an easily disagreeable philosophy before so he has to be wrong now. Don't apply past arguements to this arguement. Refute THIS debate, not this person because of his habits.

What if Ghanda had been an active hunter. Would anyone have listened to him?

Hunting had nothing to do with peaceful resolves. You are revolving around this animal issue like it's some kind of world crisis.

No one cares who hunts or who doesn't, that doesn't have to do with theft. KAs doesn't steal anything, and even if he did, his opinion on theft is a valid one.

So I say again, refute that, don't refute his desire to hunt.

It's hard to take someone seriously for something as trivial (in comparison) as stealing (from multi-millionairs) when that same person kills animals for fun...

And I daresay, can you quote when Kas honestly said "I love to hurt and kick little bunnies, I love blowing the brains out of bambie, and I love watching chipmunks writhe and die as I pelt little tiny bullets into them."

Don't take killing to be a pleasure just because it's done.

a) Drayson: Ghandi lived in India. No one eats meat there.

b) Kilam: You don't hunt to keep deer populations down. You hunt because to kill and watch things die is fun to you.
