Rather amazed that no one seems to have noticed...

I see there are some which are concerned about its' capabilities. I don't see what makes it so dangerous, really. These huge interdiction devices were designed with Wildspace in mind. If we tried to use them outside of wildspace we'd encounter unforseen factors like increased dust-particles, more heat from closer clusters of stars, and completely different gravitational makeup then that which they had been designed to withstand.

Also, they are painfully weak. Delicate devices with complex machinery, A single laser bolt could damage the entire system, and a single missile might tear it apart.

Lastly, although the Interdiction field is huge and constantly on, a little intelligence, cunning, or planning could pierce it. Capturing a Coalition Command Vessel that came from Azguard would probably yield the codes used to open the field for incoming ships. Lurking near the edge of the field in a Cloaked vessel and then following any fleet making its' way back in would allow ships through the field, where they could hunt down and destroy the Watchers. Alternate Super-Fast Devices could be used to pass through as if the Watchers weren't there (However you'd still be spotted by the scans).

As you see, its' quite easy to circumnavigate. Think of it as the Maginot Line from World War Two - Impressive, unless you just go round.

And trust me, we will only block of Wild Space, and parts of the Unknown regions(once staff approves those parts blocked).

And we won't be making a huge hyperspace route thing like chadd did, where you have to go through everyone of his planets to get to his capital.

The unknown regions? I dunno, they were never meant to withstand that region of space and the sort of things we'll encounter. Plus, I'm not comfortable moving watchers or their plans across the galaxy, they might be intercepted or captured, and that'll really cause hell.

You'll excuse me if i don't have blind faith in humanity. Too many times TRF has been burnt by 'trusting' individuals in that respect.

Yeah Ahnk, i'm much the same, i tend to approve things with only a cursory glance if i've seen Kas approve it.

So Kas, does that mean i can invent a resource on one of my planets that has all the properties of say, Aeten crystals, and then use one in an R&D to make a perfect cloak ship, simply because i'm not saying i've found Aeten crystals?

*sigh*

Obviously not.

Lup you say TRF has been burnt too many times by putting trust on individuals? Fine, then the second the Watchers are used in a way other then what has been approved by at least 2 staff members in an open thread, we will scrap the R&D and all our Watchers. And we will tell you exactly what we are doing with our Watchers, at all times. Currently, as Dolash has said, they are being used in Wild Space. Any more we build will also be positioned there.

Dolash, I had only thought about using them in a small section around the CN-(insert 4 numbers here) planets.

Hey Jan, I have a secret to tell you about the staff. They're just a bunch of kids on computers. They too can be wrong. You have said this yourself many times, mostly when staff rulings have been against you. So just because Kas and Lup glance over your R&D and say it's fine doesn't mean it is.

Other roleplayers have made similiar assurances in similiar R&D circumstances and have been denied. What makes you different to them?
