actually what happened was more of a flea bath. The ship worked but systems were damaged to the point of losing power and all atmosphere was lost. The crew could have restored power as I did but they were all dead. Being crippled meant that there was no propulsion or weapons.

The difference between crippled or disabled and destroyed is that destroyed ships have to be striped from a groups manifest if they are stripped from the manifest of said group that meaning that they are out of the game.

This makes for an important difference.

The ship I was one could have been used again. That is the difference here these ships could not be used again as they were destroyed.
