After finishing the graduating ceremony from Imperial Navy Command Officer's School on Carida Marcus Darkstar noticed he got a message from the Academy’s Commandant when he got back to his quarters.

He turned on the holoprojector in his quarters to display the message. The projection of the old grizzled Commandant of the Imperial Academy stood before him on his table top.
“Graduate Marcus Darkstar you are hereby given orders to go to Shuttle bay Alpha 6 at 0800 hours to go onboard the shuttle stationed there to your new capital ship assignment in the Outer Rim Territories. Your new assignment will be given to you by the commanding officer there once your shuttle arrives at its destination. “

As he read the short message loud Darkstar thought was this a correct? This was surprisingly short for an assignment letter and vague. His colleagues are least were given what squadron or ship they were now going to be serving on. He checked for signs of tampering with the message but found none he could see.

Marcus Darkstar decided he better prepare to go to Shuttle bay Alpha 6 right away it was nearly 0800 hours already. He decided he could always ask the pilot where exactly they were going and it was better than disobeying a direct order right after his academy training was finally finished with. Besides he was excited to get off Carida after more than half a decade of training.
He packed his few personal belongings and headed to Shuttle Bay Alpha 6. It was a private shuttle bay a distance away from the main shuttle bays. When he entered it he soon saw the pilot next to the boarding ramp to the shuttle.

The shuttle’s pilot was in full flight gear and approached him when Marcus drew near the shuttle. The pilot said to him “Marcus Darkstar I presume? Identification please, we need to demark immediately we have a long journey ahead of us.” Marcus Darkstar showed the pilot his and said “Were exactly are we going? The commandant only specified somewhere in the Outer Rim which Is strange.” The pilot without even looking back said on his way to the cockpit “You’ll be briefed by Colonel-General Vos upon arrival”

As Marcus Darkstar settled into the passenger quarters onboard the shuttle for a long trip he checked his Quickfire holdout blaster in his sewed pocket on his pants right leg. It was fit comfortably and was concealed beneath the flap of his tunic. This was a little modification he had done to his usual uniform to be always ready for the occasional dueling match as the Academy. Unsanctioned of course by the commandant and of course blasters in the matches were restricted to stun settings but the duels served a purpose at the academy among the trainees. To settle disputes between the trainees of whichever branch of the service they came from if they reached a boiling point. The duels were certainly better than two people at the Academy slugging it out with their fists and attempting to explain the bruises the next day.

He made the modification to his uniform to more easily conceal his weapon if the faculty got wind of a duel before the fact and attempted to stop it. Marcus figured he might not need to use his “Quickfire” but with such uncertainty about his new assignment it was a comforting thought he had it with him. Though with only 10 shots and requiring a 10 minute recharge it wasn’t meant for a sustained firefight of any sort and neither was Marcus Darkstar. He decided to take a nap on the way to the destination it was a long way from the Colonies to the Outer Rim.
