The Unknown Regions,

A mysterious region of space that contains many unseen worlds and species.The Chiss,for example, populated the Unkown Regions.

Now It was The New Alliance's next target.

System ST-23451087-A descovered by New Alliance scout ships charting the Unknown Regions.Grand Admiral Joren Logan had codenamed System ST-43451087-A,Onyx.It was a beutiful world with lush green jungles and forests,oceans and islands.But what interested the New Alliance most is that it was the site of great scientific interest.Apparently the species known as the Gree had deposited a Hypergate in the Onyx system.

A hypergate was,in general,a gate to hyperspace it was much like a wormhole,exept the Gree could not direct the course of the hypergate.Unfortunately, each Hypergate had a Gree Gatekeeper.The only known Gatekeeper forgot how to work or activate the Gate.So The New Alliance had brought it's best scientists and technicians along with the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Menace<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-Class SD,<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Freedom's Choice<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->.And an escort of two Dreadnaughts,<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Sol<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> and the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Waveridder<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->.

Grand Admiral Logan stood on the bridge of the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Freedom<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->.
There was no ships or vessels of any kind in orbit or anywhere in the Onyx system.Logan ordered the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Sol<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> to take up position alongside the dormant hypergate.

"Captain Neychev, Have the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Waveridder<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> settle into a rear guard formation and send down our ground forces"

"Yes,Admiral"

Logan watched as the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Sol<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> took up position aside the Gree Hypergate and began dislodging the scientists and researchers.

"Captain, tell Admiral Horn that she is clear to activate and repair the Hypergate.The <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Freedom<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> will take up orbit around Onyx and begin sending down ground forces to setup the garrison.I want the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Waveridder<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> to take up position 100,000 kilometers away."

"Aye Sir"

Vonta had heard rumors of the legendary hypergates of the ancient gree civilization. The technology for transdimensional technology was totally alien to modern science. Every effort to get the system to work or to understand the technology ending in failure. There were several known hyper gates. 3 that were known for sure and 4 more that were in unknown locations. Vonta was under no illusions that they would succeed in dicyphering the technology were other more brilliant minds had failed.

There was hope though. All of the planets that they had been to before were barren of the knowledge of how to operate the gates. The gate on the home world of the gree ancestors religiously attampt to activate the gate there on a daily basis. Here on this planet they had a trump card. A monolith that stood in one of there buildings had detailed markings on it showing how to opperate the Hypergate. This was a great achievement that was the new alliances allone in the unknown regions and she relished the chance to try this mysterious tech first hand.

The Chiss fighter wing readied itself for hyperspace.
They were in their clawcraft as usual.

Their comander, Herthg'awn'despot, or Gawnd thought back to when the ships at the nearby system were discovered by his fighter squadron.
They had been on a routine patrol and were headed for the Chiss planet,Freughte.The pilots were tired, they had been in their cockpits for hours mindlessly scouting for enemy ships.Gawnd hadrandoly focused his sensors to the nearby,nameless system when he had detected 3 ships exit hyperspace.


Two of the ships had actually headed for the planet it'self,the smaller taking up a rear guard postion, and the third heading for the derilict structure that the Chiss were exploring and studying.Gawnd ordered the squadron to go to Freughte so they could report the ships.Once there they had told their commanding officer, Baron Fel,the human what they had discovered.The human vermin had told him to take a wing of clawcraft and go 'check the ships out'.


Gawnd Agreed.

Now he ordered all fighters to enter hyperspace.

Logan Stood on the bridge of the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Freedom's Choice<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->,regarding the planet named Onyx.The ground forces had experienced some difficulty with the natives,small bipedal creatures covered with fur.Logan thought the little things looked just like Wookies,but smaller.They were putting up quite a fight,jumping at the troops,using blow guns with poison-tipped darts.But The New Alliance forces were slowly pushing the creatures back.

"Admiral! we have a full wing of 72 starfighters exiting hyperspace.They do not match any known specs.

"Launch fighters and charge all weapons"

The clawcraft fighters suddenly broke into small battle groups of about 4 fighters each,and were engaging the New Alliance fighters.After about 2 or 3 minutes it appeared that the clawcraft were slowly gaining an edge.Logan had three options: One, he could leave his ships out there,fighting a battle they didn't have a chance of winning.Two, he could withdraw his fighters and attack the enemy fighters with heavy guns.And three, he could try to negotiate with the enemy.

He chose number two.

"Have all fighters withdraw back to the ships,make it appear that they are retreating.As soon as our fighters are clear open up with the turbolasers and Ion cannons."

Starfighter control acknowladged the orders and went about carrying them out.

The Chiss commander,Gawnd raised a blue-black eyebrow at the enemy's lastest move,retreat.Now it was his job to decide if he should follow the enemy craft and destroy them or withdraw himself.The problem is if he followed he would be vunerable to the capital ships main guns.He quickly made his choice and told the other pilots.

"Sir the enemy is heading towards he planets surface!"

"Stop them"

The <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Freedom's Choice<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> and the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Waveridder<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> began shooting into the fighter formation.Despite their best efforts 2 squadrons of fighters got through and entered the atmosphere.

The New Alliance began a manhunt.It was one of the biggest in TNA history.The two squadrons of clawcraft fighters had dissapeared near the Victory mountains (Named by The New Alliance).Logan suspected that the clawcraft were hiding in or around the mountains,waiting for their chance to escape.Logan had ordered all of their fighters and transports to spread out and find them.As soon as the clawcraft were found he could continue setting up his garrisons and shipyards.He could not stop wondering who these mysterious craft were and what species were in them.Laying in his bed Logan suddenly thought of calling the Obroan Institute on Obroa-skai.He got out of bed and put his uniform on.As soon as his uniform was on he left the room and went to his command room.

Once seated he used the New Alliance Data Networks to call up the library on Obroa-skai.The Obroans had strict rules about access to their libraries.Only top level goverment officials and licenced reaserchers and scientists were allowed access.The Obroans had given Admirals,Logan,Horn and, Jump access as a goodwill project for the New Alliance.The central computer asked him to give his personal access code,which he gave and asked him to place an inquiery.He described the clawcraft and uploaded all the sensor logs on the mysterious ships to the Obroan computer.The cumputer told him that it will take 1.23 hours to do a complete search of all the Obroan databanks.

He sighed and stood up.He decided to go to the bridge and find out the latest reports of the search.The <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Freesom's Choice<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->'s new captain,Captain Burma, told him that there was nothing new to report.Logan told the Captain to have Admiral Horn send him a complete report on her progress at the Hypergate.

OOC: Vonta, I need you to post

The decryption of the obolisk proved informative. The opperation of the device wa coplicated and required a sequenceing that was so precise that only a droid could manage it. That or a well trained jedi. After memorizing the processes she works the controls. At first nothing seems to happen for all the effort that she is exerting. But then the Gate begins to humm with power running through it. The gate was connecting with another somewhere in the cosmos. There was a sphere of light growing in the middle of the gate. It grew and callapsed in a rythem. With each expansion the ball became ever larger until it touched the very edges of the gate it's self. On contact the sphere shut a cloud of blue energy towards the control center where VOnta stood in concentration. The funnel of blue energy pulled back into the gate forming a irridecent wall of energy once the energy settled into the gates frame.

There it was a gate to places unknown light years away. and she could be there in moments. She could not wait to see what was on the other side.

After recieving Vonta's report Logan went back to the computer in his command room.The screen was flashing when he got in there so he sat down.The Obroan computer went through more access codes and Logan gave them,even though he found the whole proccess stupid.What the computer told him turned his blood to ice.It was blinking the same word over and over agian.

Chiss.

The fighters they used,the clawcraft were in the information.Logan spent a few minutes reading about them.
Apparently the Obroans learned of the Chiss from people like Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa Solo,Lando Calrissian and han Solo.Logan read i all and when he was done he went to the bridge.

"Captain,the enemy fighters are Chiss clawcraft.We need to adapt our sensors to these specs."

Logan handed the Captian the specs that he had downloaded from the computer and had the sensor officers start implementing it in thei continus scans of the planet surface.
One of them looked up at him.

"Sir the Y-4 Raptor, 11,has spotted the enemy fighter squadrons! They are leading it to the ambush site."

"Excellent.Keep radio silence"

Gawnd was confused.The enemy transport was retreating fast.It was to be partialy expected,the transport was no match for his squadrons.But there was somthing that wasn't right.He ordered the other squadron back,just in case.

The transport dissappered over a ridge ahed.

Pathetic.

He ordered his squadron to break apart and come over the ridge from 12 different directions.They flew over the ridge and...

Found absolutely nothing.

Gawnd didn't know what to think.There were no starfighters waiting to ambush like Gawnd though there would be.But he got the last great surprise of his life.He had been expecting the ambush to take place in the air.Not from the ground. There were several giant machines fireing at his squadron from the ground.There were infantry with personal missile launchers and E-web heavy repeating blasters.His squadron,comprised of mostly humans,was utterly annihilated.Gawnd's fighter was hit several times by the energy discharges and missles.His last thought before his ship crashed was

His grand squadron one-by-one crashed into the ground,obliterated.

There was still a squadron out there.Apparently one had stayed back from the other at the order of a grave-toned commander.Logan was now sure that there were only six 6 Chiss in the original fighter wing.A Chiss lead each squadron comprised of humans and other aliens.When the Chiss commander for the first Squadron was shot down the second one retreated back to the mountains,adapting there sheilds to a rotating frequency so the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Freedom's Choice<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> could not scan themThat made Logan angry,he ordered a few squadrons of Tie Defenders down to scour the mountains.He called a Correllian Gunship from Almania to come and sweep the mountains for the fighter as well.All Logan could do now was wait.
