Rolling Fog of Darkness - Ilum Take-Over

Lord Rann stepped over several maimed corpses of a snowtrooper squadron. The Jedi had left in a hurry upon feeling the Sith Lord's presence nearing them. Dyans clipped his lightsaber to his belt, then kicked one of the corpses to check it if it had any life with the white armored body. The corpse only rolled over on it's back, revealing a deep gash across it's stomach. It was a shame to waste such good soldiers, but they did hold off the Sith Lord's prey long enough for him to close in on them.

The Sith Lord heard the familiar snap hiss of a lightsaber igniting behind him. Turning around slowly, Lord Rann found out a lone human Jedi only just 10 meters away from him, lightsaber ready in his hands. A dark grin creeped up on the Sith Lord's face. The Jedi was only a padawan, inexpierenced and weak in the Force, he would be easily defeated. Dyans decided not to use his lightsaber, he could crush the worm without it.

Dyans walked through the hole in the wall, which had been caused by a grenade from one of the snowtroopers, and towards the young Jedi. The Jedi charged him and swung his lightsaber blade to the Sith Lord's left shoulder, but Rann had already put up a defense. He raised his left forearm in defense of the energy blade. As the green blade made contact with the Sith Lord's arm, it did not slice through, but only sputter out of existance.

The young Jedi had a look of horror upon his face when his lightsaber blade made contact with the Sith Lord's cortosis laced armor. Lord Rann grabbed the young Jedi's hand that had his lightsaber in it and twisted it into a wrist lock. The Jedi cried out in pain as his wrist was being twisted farther than it naturally could have gone. A loud snap could be heard after that, as the wrist shattered from the pressure. The young Jedi's lightsaber fell to the floor has the Sith Lord released his wrist. Then, Dyans brought up his foot and kicked the young man square in the chest, sending him flying to the other side of the room, and slamming him into the wall. The Jedi slumped to the ground, nearly limp.

"Tell me, young Jedi where your master and the other Jedi went."

The padawan only clutched his broken wrist and cowered in fear of the Sith Lord. Dyans stalked over to the young padawan and growled in anger. The Sith Lord knelt down and cupped his hand under the young Jedi's chin, then lifted him into the air. The Jedi kicked his feet around, trying to find the ground beneath him, but there was none.

"Tell me!" the Sith demanded.

The Jedi, as if finding renewed courage within himself, spat out at the Sith Lord. "Never! I'll never tell you."

Suddenly, a long forearm blade from Dyans' armor pierced the Jedi's throat and exited out the back of his neck. The Jedi's mouth opened, a small stream of blood leaking out and down his face. Dyans retracted his forearm blade and let the Jedi's body fall to the ground limply. The Sith Lord walked over to and picked up the now dead pawadan's lightsaber. He clipped it on his belt, another trophy for his collection.

Dyans felt them in the vast mist that was the Force. The two Jedi had headed towards the ice covered mountains, far away from the settlement. And, of course, the Sith Lord had pursued his prey. He ran quickly across the snow laden surface of the mountain, leaving deep foot prints behind from the weight of his armor. The wind whiped around him, lifting snow up in the air all around the mountain side, obscuring his vision, but he pressed on.

Looking again in the misty gaze of the Force, he saw that one of the Jedi had stopped, while the other continued ahead up the mountain. A dark grin creeped on Dyans' face as he slowed to a walking pace, readying himself in the Force. He slowly slipped between to large boulders, and stalked ahead to his target, who just came into his field of vision. The Jedi stood with his feet moderately spaced apart and his lightsaber already ignited at his side. As Lord Rann approached him, he saw that the Jedi was a Zabrak. A species known greatly for their mental and physical fortitude.

Lord Rann uncliped his lightsaber from his belt and ignited it. The crimson blade sprung to life, and he twirled it around beside him. Dyans did not say anything, he did not need to say anything, nor ask where the other Jedi went. For he knew the other one had headed to the Crystal Cave up on the side of this mountain. To protect the valuable Jedi records from the Sith Lord's wrath, but the Jedi did not know he did not want to destroy the records. Only preserve them... for the Sith.

The Zabrak charged the Sith, swinging his lightsaber down from a high arc over his shoulder. The strike was aimed for Dyans' neck, but the Sith Lord sweeped his up and knocked it away with ease. With the Jedi's blade down low and his within the Jedi's circle of defense, Dyans slid his lightsaber around, sweeping for the Zabrak's face. As the Sith's blade neared the Zabrak's face, the Jedi fell onto his side and rolled once to evade the Sith Lord.

Dyans growled at the young Jedi and reached out with the Force in the form of his hand. He gripped the Zabrak's neck with the Force projected hand and squeezed. The Jedi dropped his lightsaber and grabbed at his neck for the invisible hand. Lord Rann lifted the young Jedi up in the air to where his feet could not touch the ground. The Zabrak began to cough and kick his feet around, trying to find the snow covered ground that once was below him. The Sith Lord tightened his grip until a loud snap could be heard. The Jedi's body went limp, and Dyans tossed it onto a small boulder. Dyans knelt down and picked up the padawan's lightsaber, deactivated it and hooked it onto his belt. Yet another trophy for his collection. Taken from a weak opponent is was, but never the less, another lightsaber to join with the others.

Imperial Sovereign Protector, Carnor Jax, stood silent upon the bridge of his flagship. He watched as the simulations went exactly as he had planned. One simulated target after another exploding into a field of free floating debris. He would grin, though no one would see it, if not for his rigorous training. He was trained in the ways of the Royal Guardsmen aswell as the Sith. He was a deadly hand of justice serving his Empire with pride.

Soon he would start his new assignment, guarding the Dark Lord's wife, daughter, and the rest of their band of Sith Vixens. It would be a chance to really test himself in a command role, and in a personal role. His sights were set upon one of the Vixens to take as a mate. Her physical stature was perfect for doing so, and her skill with the Force was renowned.

Indeed his offspring would be powerful and serve the Empire as he himself had since his 'birth'. He would teach them loyalty, honor, discipline, effort, and all the skills to make them as deadly as he was, if not more. They would be the next generation of Sovereign Protectors carrying on his proud tradition. He had asked that a few of the other royal guardsmen also be assigned to the Vixen base so that he could continue and complete their training, eventually raising them to the exalted position of Sovereign Protector. His request was granted without delay, as it was always, since he rarely requested anything. Not only that but it served the Empire and the Dark Lord's purpose to do so.

Sovereign Protector, Carnor Jax, moved amid his ceremonial robes of black. His ceremonial armor, black trimmed with crimson, glinted slightly in the lights of the command bridge. His weapons stowed, he watched as the war games continued. His flagship, as always, led the count of downed 'warships' and continued to dominate the simulated battle. He gave his crew little rest, but enough to keep them at peak performance and attitude. They were loyal, they worked hard, and they served their Empire well. He was proud of his small fleet.

Soon his fleet would expand in size. His mission would change, slightly, but he would have more freedom. More room to maneuver, in a metaphorical sense. He would indeed serve the Empire in whatever fashion they required of him. His service record thus far set him far apart from the rest. He was emphatically loyal. His loyalty ran so deep it was almost a fault. He was a swift hand of protection for the Empire and it's members, and a swift hand of death to those who opposed him.

He was reminded now of a time when a group of Jedi had chosen to assault one of the Dark Lord's personal strongholds. They did not plan the assault well, nor did they count on the skills and ferocity of the Sovereign Protector Carnor Jax, or his loyal companions. They had swiftly dealt with the Jedi usurpers, dealing death with an even hand. That was, after all, his job. To deal death to those who warranted it, to protect those who deserved it, and to destroy any who stood in his way of doing either. It was a simple life, and one he could be proud to lead.

The comm beeped and was instantly activated.

"Yes, Lord Maim.. how may I serve you?"

"Your efforts are no longer required at this location. Finish your training exercises and then depart for Dathomir. I shall meet you there with the guardsmen you requested and one of the Vixens."

"Yes, Lord Maim, it shall be done."

The comm went static.. then dead.

So, it was time to begin his new mission. It would be one he would undertake with great pride and personal satisfaction. He would protect the Vixens at all costs and hone his men into even further lethal machines to serve the Empire's will. He would not only discover things about himself during his stint in his new post but about his men, and about these mysterious Vixens. It would be a time of learning and conquest, and one he would enjoy.

The commands rang down the chain of command. The war games were closing to and end and the Sovereign Protector's flagship was, once more, the victor. He was pleased with his crew, the others had also functioned well. He was pleased all together with his small fleet. Watching the blackness of space, he spoke through an armored helm and the comm.

"Lord Rann, our fleet is being ordered to the Dathomir system. You now shall finish the conquest here and rejoin with the Dark Lord upon completion. Good luck, sir."

He looked to his bridge commander and nodded his head.

"Take us to Dathomir at best speed."

With that order, the crew bustled and hustled, making calculations and preparing to go to hyperspace. It would be a journey to remember, and a post to never forget. A new chapter in the Sovereign Protector's life was opening, one sure to be written in the pages of history...

The daughter of the Dark Lord of the Sith sat silently within her quarters, far from the battle, but she watched all through the visage of the Dark Force. She watched the Sith Lord Rann's battle ensue on the planet's surface, she watched the Sovereign Protector Carnor Jax's training exercises. This was an exercise of her own, testing the view of her Dark Powers. So far she had done exceedingly well. She was able to not only watch multiple fields at once, but keep track of each with almost ease.

She had trained under her father for awhile now, and had grown very strong in the dark force. Her powers grew almost exponentially. Her focus had astounded her father, surprising him that his daughter could easily outmatch his sons. It was good and he had been proud.

Now she sat, watching her father's hand stretch over another world, shadowing it in his expanding darkness. His fist clutching one more piece of dirt and one more strategic location. She was also proud, proud to be a Somir, proud to serve her father, proud to control the Dark Force so well, and proud to be a strong woman in a galaxy dominated by men.

It was true, women had come a long way, but she would drive them further than ever before. The men of the galaxy would learn to fear the wrath of the Vixens. Her hand would soon stretch out, as did her fathers, over many worlds, eclipsing the locals in her power and realm of control. She would be strong, she would lance out at the miscreants of the galaxy and strike down those unworthy of the life bestowed upon them. She would strike fear in the hearts of men and triumph in the hearts of women. Most of all, she would show the Empire that women can serve it just as well as men and, in some cases, better.

The Imperial Sovereign Protector, Carnor Jax, sat slowly within his command chair. He watched as the stars streaked to starlines and his ship entered hyperspace. It would be a smooth trip, one during which he could reflect upon his recent mission. It had been an utter success. Surely it was a simple matter, but even simple matters can be done well, or poorly, this one had gone well and the Commander of Sovereign Fleet was pleased.

The other ships of Sovereign Fleet followed through hyperspace in formation. It was a well oiled machine, and that is how the Sovereign Protector, Carnor Jax, liked it. It was fine tuned like a beautiful musical instrument. Played by a masterful artist, it would create things of such beauty as to never be matched. That is how he looked at his fleet, and that is how it responded.

The Dark Lord's mind wrapped around the events of Ilum, even from a great distance. He watched his Imperial Sovereign Protector, Carnor Jax, and his crew perform masterfully. He watched his new Sith Lord recruit, Lord Rann, do the same. It was wonderful to see his hand stretching over another planet and his fist closing around it. Through the Force he no longer had to doubt it, this planet was not his.. as were others. Soon, all of the Galaxy would once more serve the Empire in it's ultimate glory, and his dark hand will have helped to set that in motion.

He was the Imperial Procurator of Justice, and he served the Empire and his position with all diligence. He was strong, he was wise beyond his many years, and he had purpose. These were the requirements for greatness. Strength, wisdom, and purpose. He would soon force the galaxy to realize the supremacy of the Empire and come crawling back on it's knees. Those who would not see the truth, those who would doubt it, would be forced to their knees in pain, and dealt death with an even hand. His men would see to that, if he did not personally.

All was going according to his plans. All was proceeding as he had foreseen it. His dark gloved hand clenched in a fist, his lips curled upwards in a grin. Extending his hand before him, he saluted those who served him so very well this day. Those who would continue to serve him, even to their deaths. Those that would serve him even WITH their deaths.

To the others, those who opposed him, the Dark Lord made no gesture.. no thought spared them other than the quick dismissal of their importance, and the even quicker issue of their death sentences. Soon all would be as it should, and the Empire would reign supreme once more.

The Sith Lord's black gloved hand reached up and grabbed at the icy ledge above him. He could not get a grip, as the ice kept him from gaining any hold on it, making his hand slip everytime he tried to grab hold of it. The gloved hand curled up into a fist, then the fingers stretched out. Some of the armor on the glove shot down the length of Dyans' fingers and formed spikes on the ends of his finger-tips. He drove the claws into the icy ledge and slowly pulled himself up off the side of the cliff.

Dyans pulled out his lightsaber from his cloak, as he sensed the last Jedi near him. He glanced over the cliff before he proceeded into the cave. As he traveled deep into the crystal cave, the presence of the last Jedi grew, as did the darkness. Igniting his crimson bladed lightsaber with the all to familiar snap hiss, Dyans lit the way before him. The red glow off of his blade reflected off of the many crystals within the cave. Ilum crystals, crystals used for lightsaber construction.

As the Sith Lord continued on his trek down into the cave, he felt the Jedi's presence wink out, as if the Jedi has died. Suddenly, a few seconds later, Dyans' danger sense went wild. He flew backwards to the ground as several Ilum crystals shot over his head. The crystals bounced off the wall behind him and slid around the cave's floor until all was silent again. Dyans jumped up off of the ground and brought his lightsaber up in a defensive stance as the Jedi's presence re-emerged close to him.

A blue blade sprung to life in the darkness beyond Dyans and came down upon him. Raising his lightsaber up in defense, Dyans parried the blue blade and pushed it off to the side. As a counter attack, Dyans reversed the motion of his lightsaber and swung it in the other direction. The Jedi flipped over Dyans and his blade, then landed behind the Sith Lord. Lord Rann spun around and struck again, but his blade was block by the Jedi's.

"Give it up old man, you are too weak," Dyans taunted the Jedi, as he finally saw what he looked like.

"I may be old, but with age comes wisdom," the Jedi Master replied. "And wisdom often makes one more powerful than a brass youth."

The Jedi Master, still keeping his lightsaber locked with the Sith's, reached out with the Force to several crystals dug deep into the wall behind Dyans. Tugging on them with great force, the Jedi Master yanked several free and sent them flying at the back of the Sith Lord's head.

Lord Rann felt the crystals coming at him, like shells fired from a cannon, they would tear through his head if he did not move. Waiting until the last second, Dyans released the lightsaber lock with the Jedi and hit the cavern's floor. The crystals whizzed around his head, and through the area where his head had been. But instead of cutting him apart, the crystals tore into the Jedi Master, putting several holes in his head and chest. The Jedi's corpse fell to it's knees and hit the ground with an unpleasant thud.

"And a youth's agility can out match an old man's so called wisdom," Dyans stated coldly as he knelt down and took the Jedi Master's lightsaber for his personal collection. He clipped the lightsaber onto his belt and headed out to the cave's enterance, leaving the Jedi's corpse behind.

"My Lord," the familiar voice of Colonel Nyrox rang in Dyans' helmet comlink. "Our troops have managed to take the settlement and secure the command staff. Also the starfighters that were launched have eliminated all enemy aircraft."

"Kill the command staff, they are of no use to me," Dyans ordered. "And a congratulations on a job well done, Colonel."

"Thank you, my Lord." the Colonel replied, then the comlink transmission clicked off.

A dark grin creeped across the Sith Lord's face. It was a great day for the Anicent Sith Empire. Another planet taken, several Jedi killed, and fear of the Empire's wrath spread a little farther across the galaxy. More was gained in this simple exercise than he thought. Much more.
