Purging the Dark (Yinchorr)

“So quiet,” a voice pondered of the cosmos’ infinity, “and yet so vigorous.” Xylon, softly drifting over the steel of an elevated bridge observation point, gawked into the endless black, inquiring to just how an environment of such silence could ever concede to the intensity bustling within, when closely examined. Factions and groups hacking at one another for what appeared to be perpetuity; emotions dictating the impressionable minds of individuals; and even crazed beasts looking to obliterate what goodness the galaxy had left to show. But all the while, at this place to where he observed from a distance, silence swept everything away: the terror, the war, and most importantly the hatred.

“‘So quiet,’ you say…too quiet,” whispered the Chiss Lieutenant Kahr, tilting his head downwards to informally salute a stunned Hexyra. Stepping upwards from the twisting stairway, Kahr gestured his concern prior to pacing aside his friend and superior. “This silence shows us just how indecisive nature is…greed and altruism, war and peace, hatred and integrity. But above all, it shows us that we will find no compassion in its cold heart.”

“Unfortunately you speak the truth,” Xylon passed once having shaken off his startle. Gradually his peripheral vision took hold of the Chiss’ left half. Kahr, too, had now become captivated by the vast nebulas unfolding before the transparasteel. Several times Xylon’s lips cracked open to speak, and several times nothing came out. In a final attempt to break the seal of raptness pushing down on him, Xylon continued, “And to know that at the same time, the entire galaxy is convinced that that wretch of a mother cares…” With malice in his words, his back turned from the infinity and strode to a small console set into the platform’s center.

“If only she did,” Kahr said, pivoting on one foot to watch Hexyra trail off, “we’d all be better off.” Sighing off his regret, Kahr’s beady red eyes followed Xylon off to the device to which he began to tap upon, frustrated. “Second thoughts, Commander?”

Humor fizzled in Hexyra’s once-disdained eyes, and then having realized that what his friend asked was no joke, sardonically replied, “When have you seen me without them? But,” his voice became somber, “I don’t want to confuse any of them with making a difference…the job is more obligatory than it seems. In fact, I truthfully cannot tell you one instance to which my ‘second thoughts’ did matter to the senate and its bureaucrats.”

“Do you not have the power to silence them?” Kahr wondered aloud, shuffling closer to the other and rebuilding his posture. “They are your subordinates when pertaining to the military. Only the other Cou-“

“Exactly,” Hexyra interjected through a grimace dictating his lip movements, “Only the Council can overrule my grasp of the military; and that’s precisely the problem. The bureaucrats do not influence me directly, but rather by taking the other Council members by their ears. Despite my rebuttals, the bureaucratic senate always has had the advantage in numbers…”

“Interesting…hah, and the rumors ‘down below’ are that you have some sort of a grand scheme forming from these random attacks.” His jovial expression, once having lost its need for words, faded to a stern fall of the lips and was paired to a strict sensation of his two fiery eyes. “So there’s no choice in the matter, then. Life or death, the entire fleet is hinging on the extremist desires of one committee.”

“A not-so-pacifist ‘lightside’ senate. The Imps would lay low and wait for us to conquer ourselves if they weren’t so caught up in their own tangents,” he cynically responded in the darkness of brooding agitation. What’s more, his eyelids began to twitch at the vision of his own comment. Over the past years he had resented politics, especially those of the Republic, but he had yet to hear himself suggest it until then.

As Kahr cocked his head upwards to return with an answer, a monotonous voice was transmitted from a panel of the console ahead the two figures. At first a combination of hisses and snaps rose from the machine as a result of typical interference, but soon distinct protocol was being blurted with a bizarre hint of excitement. “Attention! Attention! All crewmembers are to report to phase-one combat markers immediately. All starfighter pilots are to report to the standby markers in their respective hangers. Commanders are to be at station posts…”

“Here we go,” Xylon mumbled beneath the intercom’s volume. “Assuming that vector one was met with that announcement, it’s my signal to pull myself down to the bridge.”

The massive cluster of durasteel and energy eased closer and closer to a brown speck enveloped by seas of black. The sublight engines of various classes purred beneath the burdensome weight of filtered metal, rupturing the seal of silence once covering the planet before them. Impeding the sphere’s perfection orbited a series of three faint objects around its heart. The entire ship’s crew appeared mesmerized by the sight, knowing that the closure of their fate could quite possibly occur there. It was a given reaction to fear before every confrontation in which they became entangled, but not once did the fear of death seem to depart from a young one’s eyes. Every battle was the same – every dread was the same.

The Twilight’s bridge was lively and deafening with young officers gossiping of impending battles. Commanders shouted at the recalcitrant “officers,” attempting to round up and contain the immature bunch. All the while, directives were shot to and fro across the ocean of heads, many becoming lost because of a useless piece’s migration. One could only glare at the sight, for anything more would be wasted energy.

And with the signal of a precautionary alarm, everything oddly began to fall into place…

“One Abolisher and a set of five Hapan Battle Dragons – handle being deemed the ‘Kissado taskforce’ - have been sent to the planet’s far side, quadrant A23.4, vectors 3-59!,” a yell broke from the bridge’s starboard half. “The second Abolisher is positioned with the main fleet; altering vector, planetary quadrant V91.3. Both are prepared to engage anti-gravitational fields on the mark of ten chronomites! Countdown…mark!”

Another blared, “Jamming fields are operational and spanning around all visible array ranges. Outer relay points have been established and engaged to line Republic communications from here on in.”

Xylon stalked the command bridge’s rear with a mind stuck in the clouds and two hands clutching one another behind his back. An air of lingering resentment for that to which he had discussed with Kahr hung in his heart and would seem to always remain there. He knew better than most, however, that a head in the gutter would merely damage his ability to command, and therefore he urged himself to walk upon the main platform to divert his attention. He had then proceeded to a general authority mechanism, punched in a numerical password of sorts, and began to overlook what had already elapsed.

“Deploy the first four wings [288] of Skiprays to shadow the second shipyard; arm all missiles but see to it that they sustain their passes without firing. Charge and prepare the Twilight’s superlaser and begin standard aiming procedure – target the first shipyard on our pathway indicator, factoring in all details of orbit. Proper guard should be left to the Captain to decide…”

Howls of confirmation rung off of the walls, many originating themselves to communication systems lined along the fore. Taking notice to the command-illiterate “fools” populating the command posts from an era long adapted to shortcuts, Hexyra took it upon himself to leave no stone unturned and no pathway unmarked for just this.

“Ready the captains of both the Yamaton and Defiler for control of a secondary sub-division. The following ships are to face outwards from the planet in a three-dimensional, 4-tailed arc – each 90 degrees apart – and will take either of the planet sides between the main force and our small Kissado Taskforce. Naturally, both the Yamaton and Defiler will be at this expanded arc’s head. The quicker the ship, the farther back in the arc (therefore closer to the planet). Eviloin; Ascar; Kinetor; Force’s Guard; Sunrider; Holy Catalyst; Trythid; Radius; Rejkar; Eye of Re; 2 Dreadnaughts; 2 Strike Cruisers; 3 Lancer Frigates; 2 Nebulon B-2 Frigates; and 2 Gunships.

“And the main division,” he continued. “Spread into a fan curving subtly inwards with the planet. Direct the Twilight and the three other Zeuses to form a center, while all other capital craft are to form proportionally outwards, with the larger ships at each end. This is all in exception to our company of one Abolisher, which will remain behind our phalanx line – of sorts – at all times.”

“Anything else, sir?"

“Charge all armaments and defenses…prepare for battle. Also, send the customary surrender terms to the planet now.”

-- Attention Sith stronghold. Surrender the unpacified planet of Yinchorr and two of its shipyards to the New Republic without resistance in the order of preventing further confrontation. If you neglect to respond or respond with hostility, you will be met with force until all culprits are apprehended. --

The Dark Lord cringed, if slightly, looking at his monitors.

He tapped his comm.

"New Republic Forces... you will leave Yinchorr, as it is a religious base. If you feel the need to conquer, find your way to Stassia. You may take what you find there and the planet itself. However, you will enter into an agreement never to attack this sacred planet again."

(I will post the blunt and straight-forward agreement OOCly, to get this done with quickly.)

Stassia and its asset of 1 shipyard will be granted indefinitely to the NR, retaining no hinges or rendered defense leaks.

The New Republic will not assault Yinchorr or its assets directly or indirectly by any circumstances, unless influenced to do so by ASE hostilities.
