Jutraalian Supremacy: Rogue Freedom | Tholatin
 • Posted On: May 21 2003 1:54am
It was a rare thing, indeed, for Gash Jiren to be found on the bridge of a Star Destroyer; even more rare that he should be found commanding it.

After his departure from the Ziost Empire and his turn from the dark side, Jiren had sought ways that he might repay the galaxy for the damage he'd done as a Sith. He'd almost immediately found a kindred spirit in fellow Jedi Xylon Hexyra, who had also turned from the dark path, and who had recognized his innate talent for fleet command. His installation as an Admiral -- and later, Supreme Chancellor of Military Forces -- had been regarded by many has foolhardy, but none had doubted him once they'd seen the results.

From the near-destruction of the Galactus and the Galactic Empire's Eclipse Star Destroyer at Muunilist, to the outright slaughter of the Naboo Sith Order's Eclipse (and a great deal of their fleet) at Talus, Gash rose from Admiral to High Admiral to Supreme Chancellor in a period of months.

Since the Wrath Virus, the Rogue Jedi Order and Ossan Parliament had renounced keeping a massive military force, fearing that they'd put Ossus in harm's way as they had during Thrawn's assault on the galaxy, and during the period of Imperial expansion that had followed it. But for this, Gash Jiren would swallow his pride; for this, he would fight.

For Tholatin.

The ships were Jutraalian, but the bridge crew was primarily his own, former members of the Tachyon and Sovereign crews (ships destroyed at the Battle of Ruusan and Battle of Bastion, respectively), specially selected. The bridge captain approached the Jedi Master, nodding his head slightly. Gash recognized him immediately as a member of the crew of the Sovereign he'd fought beside at the horrific Battle of Bastion, what was now recognized as the bloodiest naval conflict in history, or very nearly. "Captain -- ah, you've been promoted. Commodore Tieas. We're nearing our exit from hyperspace?"

"Yes, sir. All is in order."

"Good."

The vessel emerged from hyperspace along side its fellows, and Tieas said, "Executor-General Tellien is hailing. Accept?"

"Yes, indeed."

Another character from Gash's days as an Admiral, Xeneth Tellien was the most loyal man he'd ever commanded, as well as the most talented; personally trained by Jiren himself, Tellien was a naval prodigy, and, throughout the battles against Thrawn, the Empire, and the New Empire, he'd proven himself exceedingly capable. He appeared above the comm transmitter, in miniature holographic form. "Xeneth."

"Gash," the man said, nodding in greeting. The two were far past military formalities. "We're ready on this end."

"Proceed forward as planned. This is for Kamon and his people, remember; no mistakes, not one. I'm expecting nothing short of complete victory.

"Full speed ahead, Battle Group Beta deviate forty degrees relative east for one minute then full speed paralell to Alpha. Arm weapons, scramble communications, and raise those Interdictors as soon as vessels are in range. Deploy twenty Skiprays, in pairs."

"Of course."

"This is Sovereign-Elect Gash Jiren, on behalf of the Ossan Parliament, Tholatin Republic, and Jutraalian Empire. We are here to liberate Tholatin. All craft are hereby ordered to stand down their weapons or face hostilities."

He took in a deep breath as he considered the prospects and importance of the impending battle. Everything depended on this, everything depended on their victory. The people of Tholatin have been discouraged by the fleeing of their leader....

It was a dark time in the galaxy. With the rise of the Demosthesian Empire it seemed as though there would be none to stand before them and halt their aggression. Fortunately Emperor Fearsons had stood before them since their beginning, and he had rallied the cause of those such as the Ossan Parliament and the Tholatin Republic.

Unfortunately he could not help but feel guilty for the very suffering that was now being conducted on Tholatin. Seti Ashar, the man who Intell had said was an understudy to the madman Dxun Isstal, was molesting the planet in a way that he dared not envision.

The Force had told him enough of the suffering going on, and it haunted his very dreams. With the proclomation of war against Ashar's maniacle regime, he had promised the liberation of Tholatin.

So be it.

The emperor peered around the bridge of the True Empire, eyeing the curious figures all about the bridge. They were hardy and experienced, even excited for the battle.

The blood that flows through their veins are that of warriors, they do not flee at the sight of battle, they charge.

He had been absent when most of these men had reached their pinnacle of glory, he had not been there when they had developed and blossomed into true warriors.

There had been a conversation between his former master, Gash Jiren, and one of his commanders. Fearsons had been wise enough not to intervene, these men knew Gash, they had been there with him since the days of the New Republic. They were his own and had a mutual bond with him.

A bond he had thought he and his Master had, but apparently not.

When the holographic figure of the commander dispersed, Fearsons turned to his former master, for a moment captivated by the scars that had erupted all about his face like vast gorges on Tatooine.

Yes, Fearsons felt very guilty for what had happened to the people of Tholatin. If he had not intervened with Demosthesian expansion...

No...disregarding an evil is even more evil than being the aforesaid.

"Master..." he said in a hushed tone, displaying his reverence for the middle-aged Jedi, "do you suppose the people of Tholatin understand why Kamon fled? He could not have won...there would have been far too much bloodshed if he fought...the people would have..."

"They know," Gash said, raising a hand to stop Chadd. "Kamon has earned the respect of Tholatin's people; they believe in him, in victory and defeat."

Fearsons nodded.

"Then let them have this victory," he responded, patting the lightsaber at his side.

It had been the weapon that helped him overthrow the Dark Lord of the Sith the first time...which had been returned to him only a few months ago.

He hoped the Force would guide his blade now.

"Indeed," Gash responded.

Fearsons turned back to the viewport and watched as Tholatin pulled into view.

This was indeed an odd play.

Never had the Sovereign Protector seen such swift recourse of action in the name of liberation. The planet had only fallen some hours earlier and already a rescue had arrived... And it was no small rescue force at that. Clearly, someone meant buisness.

Silk had recalled the fighters and formed up the fleet just a short time ago and now he was faced with the arrival of an unknown factor. It was an interesting quandry to consider...

Here, the Crimson Regieme had only come to support their new found allies in the Swarm and, they had done so spectacularly, with no damages... no casualties. His fleet was still a whole and compotent fighting force but, he lacked directives.

Unsure of weather or not to engage the fleet that now stood over Tholatin, Silk was given a momentary pause.

It was a long moment before he spoke.

"Signal the would-be Liberators. Inform them that we have no stock in the planet below and will not, at this time, stand and fight."

Not sure if this would be enough to ensure the time he needed, he added on.

"Stand down all systems to passive and deploy only the Grand Master starfighters to act as a screen for the Flagship. Inform them that the forces of the Crimson Regieme will stand aside, though we will not withdraw at this time."

"Open a private conferance frequency to the Swarm forces... Inform them of our stance. I want to speak with K'Taruuk as soon as possible."

The situation dealt with, for the time, Dioan Silk, Sovereign Protector to the Dark Lord of the Sith, Maim and master of the Crimson Third Fleet stood back and awaited further responce.

Slavatio thought back as he stood upon the bridge of the Crimson Regime's flagship. It had not been long ago when he had once more been forced to become active in this galaxy. A man he owed his life to, many times over, had needed his help. How could he refuse such?

The place was Vjun.

Nathaniel Somir had found himself in a spot of trouble after rescuing his student from the Sovereign Protector, Dioan Silk. After some bit of trouble, Nathaniel had found himself face to face with not only Dioan Silk but another Sith Master in his uncle's body.

Nathaniel was now out numbered and, perhaps, out powered. Before Slavatio had arrived he had taken several severe injuries. However, the battle ended swiftly when Slavatio's TIE Phantom had made a strafing run on the attacking Sith. Together, they had escaped.

Some time later they had plotted the overthrowing of the Dark Lord for the betterment of the galaxy. A trick which was not easy to pull off. Somehow, they had done it. And, in his own arrogance, the Dark Lord had provided the means of his own demise.

Ysalamiri.

Most of the Crimson Fleet had pledged loyalty to the rightful successor of the Dark Lord, Nathaniel Somir. Most of them, including the highest ranking officers such as Anakin Skywalker the second.

Now the fleet was ready for action once more and, instead of causing pain it was here to prevent future pain.

The Jedi Master watched as starlines shrank to pinpoints of light in the viewscreen.

"Charge all shields and weapons, load all missle tubes and prepare fighters for launch. This will end in a battle, no doubt."

Slavatio gave a smile as his old friend, and the new commander of the Crimson Regime, Prince Nathaniel Somir, stepped onto the bridge.

Welcome back, my friend.

Nathaniel Somir opened the communications channel.

"Crimson Fleet Three. This is Grand Admiral Somir. Stand down all actions and await orders. Grand Admiral Somir, out."

Short and sweet.

The sudden arrival of new enemy forces into this equation was a suprise, but not unexpected.

Still on the Bridge of his Ancestral, K'taruuk pondered the situation slightly as the warships advanced toward the planet.

Despite thier ties with the Empire, we would have nothing to gain from staying and fighting, they had already proved thier point . . .that they could take any world . . .any second they wished. This was merely a demonstration of Power on thier part. It was now time to form a hasty retreat.

With thier fighter's safely in thier bays, the Retakkenari fleet, with due distance between them and the enemy craft, powered thier ion drives and fled.

As the ships rolled onwards, a bleeping warning indicated an incoming transmission from the Crimson Forces. Uneasily K'taruuk stood on the holographic deckplating to the left of the bridge, where he could make contact with Silk.

...............

The Cruiser Grandmaster

On the bridge of Dioan Silk's flagship, a lifesize, flickering blue replica of the Retakkenari's High Eldar, K'taruuk appeared in all it's holographic glory. He nodded a rushed greeting towards the Sovereign Protector as he grew slightly impatient with this last minute interruption.

"Yes Protector Silk, what is it?"

Kamon was in the hangar of Imperial Star Destroyer True Empire. Standing next to him was his Monteradon life partner Freefall. The only white Monteradon, he was the leader of the colony.

Some of the Monteradons, mainly the ones not life partners to military types, were still on Tholatin. They would be able to fight when the time came, but not until their leader returned. Kamon looked up at Freefall.

"Will they fight?"

They will. All I have to do is tell them the facts about the people now on the planet.

"Good. Are the Captains ready?"

They are. All have been assigned a group. They will consist of groups of ten. Four will watch for enemy starfighters, the rest will attack ground targets.

"Good. Sounds as if you have coordinated this well, my friend."

I spent the whole trip here working on it.

"Whew, long trip I must say. We'll have to fly low to stay out of the range of their starfighters."

Yes. Tree-top flying will be what we will do. Skimming the tree tops will somewhat hide us form view.

"Yes. Be prepared, my friend. The battle draws nigh."

(I will edit some content in here when I get home. In the meantime, current HDE manifest will be posted.)

Thus far, the meeting had gone well. The one outstanding issue, that of the fate of Tholatin, had yet to be resolved.

But as events would go, that issue would be resolved in its own way. At the second break in the meeting, the whine of repulsorlifts outside caught the attention of the delegates, in time to see a half a dozen armoured shuttles settling to the pavement outside. Already Bhindi had recieved the word from the fleet above, and those present were carefully shuffled into the shuttles and, in the area of only a few minutes, the remaining Imperial staff in the capital district were enroute back to their respective flagships.

"Details?" The Black Fleet Admiral asked as her own ship lifted off, wings locking into crusing formation and main engines kicking in.
"Jutraalian warships in system, Admiral. Three Imperator Class, Mark I. A VicStar and an Aegis Cruiser, some Carrack support craft and a Grappler Class Interdictor."

Bhindi nodded, mentally calculating what the Holy Demosthesian Empire had on station already. All of the Imperium Division, which was essentially just the flagship, and her own Godshammer. More than enough firepower, if it was deployed properly... plus whatever the Swarm had left behind as a garrison force. But Godshammer was still damaged, however slightly, from the battle at Omega-Prime, and the Korolev had been assigned to Thyferra...

Her shuttle had by this time set down in the cavernous, and nearly abandoned, forward bay of the Tyrant. Evidently, the ship's XO had already ordered battle stations and scrambled the ship's comlpiment of starfighters. She smiled at that. Excellent.

Her own ships were still in geosyn orbit over the Tholatin capital, and she saw in that another brief advantadge. Stepping onto her combat-ready bridge to a salute from the XO, she was already snapping orders.

"Break Tyrant and our Interdictors from our position. Order Devestator to tag half her batteries as Steel Rain and range on Alpha Quadrant. Wait for my orders to fire. Form the rest of the fleet up with the Demosthenes."

She pasued, looking out into space at the largest ship in the fleet, which was currently assigned to the Imperium Division. So far, the Super Star Destroyer had not seen service, it had been siezed from the Tholatin Empire during the invasion and Imperial survey teams were still testing her for combat.

"Has the Polemarch issued any orders?" She asked lightly.
"No, Admiral. Reports from the flagship indicate that the Emperor and Polemarch left the system earlier today. The Demosthenes had been tagged to follow later today."

Not that was interesting.

"Who does that leave as the highest ranking commander in the system?"

"You, Ma'am. The Emperor broadcast before he left a personal congratulations and an immediate advance to the rank of Fleet Admiral."

Bhindi stopped, blinked and shook her head.

"I was not informed of this..." But now is not the time to worry about such things. "Right. Bring the Swarm gunships down into a tight holding pattern behind the Imperium. Assign four sqaudrons of Defenders and 300 of the fleet's TIE Raptors to support them, and ten of our Dark Force ships."

"Ma'am, the Imperium-" One of the aides attempted to put in. Bhindi silenced her with a glare.
"I am aware of the ship's status, ensign. Watch and learn."

Slowly, outside the viewports, the massive Super Star Destroyer began to lumber forward, the tiny shapes of the Sith Battle Cruisers and Swarm Gunships taking their places close into the mamoth vessel. They, along with the buzzing swarms of TIE Raptors, mere gants when placed beside the Star Destroyer, would remain cloaked in her sensor shadow.

Bhindi smiled. "Status of the fleet?" The answer was immediate.
"The fleet is prepared for battle, Admiral. All stations on standby."

And indeed they were. With the Demosthenes acting as a spearpoint, and the rest of the aligned along either side, the Tyrant hovering above and behind the flagship, would form an arrowhead with which to stab the Jutraalians. The Devestator's position was relitive to that of the Tyrant, though much farther below, with her own guardian force of TIEs buzzing about it.

All, including the Super Star Destroyer, were at the moment concealed on the dark side of the planet. The Jutraalian would not see the Super Star Destroyer emege from her shroud until it was to late...

"You understand your orders?"

The crewman nodded to the Sovereign Protector, a loyal servant always, the low-ranking officer would be the one to convey a message to the new commanding officer of the Crimson... Empire.

It would always be an Empire to Silk, always.

"Good. Carry out your directives."

With those simple words the juinor officer exited the hangar-bay, leaving Silk utterly alone in the bowels of the Grand Master. Looking upon the bone-white walls of the bay, Silk paused a moment to reflect upon what he was doing. This was no time for second thoughts... somewhere, the Dark Lord Maim called to him. Somewhere...

Finally boarding his private ship, the Infiltrator gifted to him so long ago, Dioan Silk remained but a last few seconds, the last few seconds of his command.

As he slipped into the pilots seat, reading the ship for depature, thoughts of possibles passed through his mind. The Third Fleet would rejoin with the rest of the Crimson forces, under the name of their new commander, but Dioan Silk would not be part of this... treason. Without him aboard, the fleet would simply fall under new command.

A last sigh passed his lips as the Infiltrator passed out of Grand Masters aft hangar and, retiring his command Dioan Silk activaed the cloak and vanished... This battle was not his to fight.

((OOC: I understand the Infiltrator was not listed in the manifest. Count it as a storyline ship? Any problems and I will edit.))

Suddenly the uplink to the Grandmaster went dead . . .

"Get that link back . . .I need to talk to Commander Silk." Demanded K'taruuk.

"The Grand Master reports, Protector Silk is no longer on board." replied the comms officer.

"That's unfortunate." Thought K'taruuk. "We shall proceed as planned then. Leave ten ships behind to aid the Holy forces . . . are we capable of making a jump?"

"Yes sir."

"Good, calculate the jump to lightspeed. Get us out of this filthy sector."

"Slavatio and his vessels are in-system, sir."

"Yes, I've noticed," Gash replied. The massive fleet send by the newly-ordained Order of the Jedi Star was certainly apparent on the True Empire's tactical display. They were approaching the planet, rapidly closing in on it. "The Demosthesian forces?"

"Not apparent, at the moment, sir. Wherever they are, they're not showing up on our scanners."

Gash could recall a thousand instances "But obviously, they are in-system."

"Yes, sir."

There were only so many places a fleet could hide in a star system. And seeing the range they'd let them approach to, it obviously was not near another of the worlds, as that would permit them to land enough troops to capture three worlds on Tholatin before they approached.

"Reverse thrust, then. Slow us down to a crawl; they're on the dark side of that world, and we're not going to fall into their trap. Evacuate that Carrack -- they won't see it, being on the other side of the planet -- and have one of the other vessels pick up the life pods, and have its system slaved to ours. Move it down towards the suface, and have four Skiprays cover it, and a detachment of fighters. We want them to think that Fearsons and Kamon are on board that ship."

"Yes, sir."

"And then," Gash continued, "Move Beta group around at a wide distance from the planet, and have them take it at a moderate pace. Circle around, and try to get into position to strike the Demosthesians from the side."

OOC:

Alpha Group: Well back of Tholatin, transport moving in close
Beta Group: Well back of Tholatin, moving around the planet to the right, towards your position on the dark side
