Pling
Plop

Step ... step ... step ...

Pling
Plop

Step ... step ... step ...

A man walked down an ally, flipping a coin.

Pling
Plop

The man, nobody special. Just another member of society. The street, does it really matter? The planet, CSA owned. The coin… Now that’s where the interesting part begins…

Pling
Plop

Step ... step ... step ...

This coin… this coin has a tale. The man flipped once more, caught it, and gazed upon its visage. Nothing special about it; just another CSA ten-cred. Sure, it is a little worn, but credit coins tend to wear out fast.

The man flipped the coin again, and continued his walk. His clothing rippled out behind him, obviously expensive. His boots, spit shined They click as they hit the pavement. His hair… oiled, as well as his beard. He is in every way, shape and form, one of the upper echelon.
Or… was anyhow.

Pling
Plop

Step ... step ... step ...

His walk brings him to the end of the ally, which ends in an abrupt way. It overlooks a precipice most deep. The precipice is the beginning of a valley, in which runs a river of molten lava. On the very edge of his vision he can see a spark of red. City garbage is dumped here, and is consumed by fire so hot, that it melts the rock on which it runs.

Pling,
plop.

The man stared down the precipice, recalling. It had been going all too good for him earlier this week. Profits were up, and costs were down. For the first time in months his company was actually making a good bit of money.

Then… Monday came. Monday. Some people hated the day. He had liked it before… Now he hated it. His financiers had withdrawn their overhead, and his company had been forced to shutdown. His financiers… pah. Cryonics Industries had been financing his research for almost a year. “Great ideas!” “Can’t wait to see what you come up with next” “We’ll keep in touch…”
Pah…

Pling,
plop

The man stared at the coin again. The fuel that powered the galaxy, the cursed bit of money.
His palm turned over, and the fell to the pavement.

Plinggggg…
Clinggg…
Clang…

Wind whistles down the ally. It is empty, but for the coin. The cursed coin.

Bonadan

As the Arliss corporate craft exited hyperspace, so too did two Venerator Class Command Ships followed by four Reign Class Star Destroyers, all emblazoned with the colors and ensignia of the Empire.

That the ships themselves were there was not so much of a surprise to the tactical command of Bonadan's defenses given that their advanced detection units picked up their hyperspace signatures well before reversion.

The fact that the ships were Imperial, though left many nervous.

The vessels themselves did not contact the planet nor did they attempt to do so. They seemed to take up flanking positions behind the orbit behind the Arliss craft.

And while, the vessels did seem to take care in not overly interrupting the flow of traffic too and from Vinda Corp's seat of power, the fact remained that the mere presence of the ships sent a chill of fear into several merchant men.

*

As Jenice was on her way to Mr. Vinda's office, her private communications device activated informing her of the ships from the 256th.

She took the news in stride, though she was not expecting that level of firepower behind her.

Kaine is not leaving anything to chance... should Vinda decide to do what? Attack us?

Sometimes, trying to fathom Kaine's mind was like trying to see through oil.

However, right now, she was trying to fathom Vinda's mind. The arrival of the warships would not sit well with the corporate leader.

Perhaps he'd feel I was trying to strong arm him into accepting a position or situation he would rather not?

Who knew with Vinda.

However, the man was not one to be taken lightly and he is nobody's fool.

She knew exactly what kind of offer she was to put forth from the Empire.

The words of her father came back to her... something he had said once a long time ago ...

"Anyone can say 'no' to a bargain with the Devil. But it's when the Devil offers you a deal of a lifetime that the game gets interesting."

She was shown into the plush office and, at once, noticed the slight subtle changes here and there that had taken place in the six months since their last meeting.

Vinda would have pointed questions and would expect, if not demand, pointed answers.

The time for evasion had ended.

Well, I have the answers Mr. Vinda. I have the answers..

Vinda's eyes narrowed as he observed the Destroyers in orbit via the viewscreen in his office...

Their presence made him feel...

...uncomfortable...

Which, (he reasoned), was probably the motive for why they were here...

"...COA sir?.."

Vinda took a moment to consider their implication, then responded to the voice through the comms..

"...on standby, do not power up any weapons or commit any action that could be interpreted as unwelcoming, they are our guests..."

As Vinda signed off, a subtle chime sounded, signalling Ms Arliss's entrance, and he stood to greet her...

"...Ms Arliss... always a pleasure...."

His eyes seemed to deliberately glide from hers to the still operational viewscreen behind her. Jenice followed his gaze ,to the Destroyers that were still plainly evident...

"...thats quite an entourage you keep, your benefactors must be highly concerned for your welfare..."

He knew full well there was more to it than that, and the subtle trace of a smile could just about be read from across his face...

...someone is very serious about whatever this visit entails...

New Order ships, here? The implications could be good... or they could be...
Ominous. The New Order was the galaxies largest military government, and they held a lot of sway. But here?

The door to Mr. Vinda's office opened with yet another chime, and in strode Admiral Katta.

Upon stepping in, he blinked once, seeming to come out of a trance like state.
It was not really the sight of a woman really that made him blink, but more of who she was that startled him so.

Sensing his intrusion, he made a quick apology.

"Excuse me Sir, I was preoccupied when I entered. I'll wait outside."

With that he turned, and walked toward the door.

Bonadan

Her eyes registered amusement at the sight of the Imperial warships holding orbit over Bonadan and at the concern registering in Mr. Vinda's voice when he was flatly being dry.

Very dry wit, Mr. Vinda.., her mind whispered.

"General Kaine must appreciate your mind Mr. Vinda. I've never seen him plan this much for the unforeseen...which is.." she turned and walked closer to him, "exactly what you are. An unforeseen."

Her finger traced the edge of Vinda's desk, it's shine creating a smooth glide. "Imagine the General's surprise when the Vinda Corporation turned out to be the rancor of the Corporate Sector. The Corporate Sector Authority was supposed to wipe the galaxy with you. The Moffs did not, could not believe in your resilience."

Her hand touched the breast of Mr. Vinda's suit. "You see, Tenloss had assured the body politic of the Empire that he would finish off the CSA after they had finished you.

Mr. Tenloss was very pro-Empire when it suited his needs and an Imperial Galaxy would have suited his needs for the former crimelord had political aspirations."

Jenice laughed lightly, knowing she was coming at Seth with turbolasers firing verbally.

"He invested in the CSA credit in order to control the money-flow and manipulate the sector. Alas.."

The blond woman abruptly turned, walked over to the seat she had sat in months earlier and sat down, crossing her legs.

"Programming. That is what has been happening in the Corporate Sector for the better part of a year. Programming an area of space for what is about to be imposed on it."

She smiled sadly, "And that is the crux. For Order will be imposed on the Corporate Sector."

But before Mr. Vinda could react to that bit of unwelcome news, Jenice looked down and stared at his rather expensive electronic organizer on his desk.

"But there are many ways to acheive Order."

Her eyes met his. "Tell me, Mr. Vinda. What does the future hold for the Empire? What is their goal?"

"With any conflict, an army is only as good as it is supplied. For any living organism, it's health is only as good as it's flow of nutrients. For any galactic civilization, it's greatness, it's control, it's power, it's life.. is only as good as its supply.

Mr. Vinda?..."

Here it goes...

".. The Galactic Empire will be supplied. They question is, by whom?"

"The Moffs had put forth a plan to attack and devestate the Vinda Corporation thus aiding the value of the CSA credit and thus ensuring that Mr. Tenloss' worth and stability remain."

Jenice took a glass of some local refreshment that had been offered to her by a Vinda Corp droid, ironically manufactured on Mechis III. "Truly a good year. My compliments, Sir."

She let the warm drink settle within her and, inside, she was laughing at the offer of the beverage.

Loosening my tongue as much as possible are you? No matter. There are things to be told and actions that must soon take place!

"Kaine had other ideas. 'Never trust a politician's grasp of military matters' as he was always fond of saying that in his oh so serious manner.

He thought, 'why wait for the CSA to regain it's lost strength? Why wait for Tenloss to recoup from his mistake? And, with the help of the Imperial Tactical Engineer Adalric Cronus, the downfall of Tenloss was decided.

Why waste time to achieve in two years what can be achieved now! With Vinda Corporation!"

She leaned forward, placing her half empty glass on the edge of Mr. Vinda's desk.

"You have the infrastructure already! You have the monopoly already on the Corporate Sector. Instead of dealing with Tenloss, why not deal with you?

In this game, the strongest survive. And you have come out the strongest.

This is about Imperial Ascendancy! This is about the full assumption of Galactic Authority! This is about the Empire finally coming out of the shadows and seizing their place!

There are divisive influences in the Empire, to be sure. There are threats that continue to erode at Imperial Order from the outside, certainly. There are the eons old conflicts between the Jedi and the Sith that threaten the very foundations of all that we've built...and then there are men like General Kaine. Men like you, Mr. Vinda."

Jenice's eyes seemed to glaze over a bit as her voice became soft, as if she were speaking her mind...

"Men like you dwell in the shadows content to let others assume the titles, the glory, the positions.. knowing full well where the true power rests.

Within your own hands."

She focussed on the Vinda Corp leader and flushed slightly as if in embarrassment.

"As a woman, it is sometimes hard to realize that there are people who shun the limelight. Sometimes, position and power are all to rare in my kind that we jealously hold onto it with our very lives.

We feel it odd when others do not publicly flaunt their strength. But it's not out of shame. It's not out of weakness... that you lie in the shadows. It's because you are confident."

"Mr. Vinda. A plan is in place. A plan that is being enacted right now on a galactic scale. A plan to ensure that rise of the Empire.

The inner divisions of the Empire are being put out... sometimes violently. The outer threats are being neutralized...and the Imperial High Command is poised to begin absolute control over the governing Moffs and lessor politicians.

A Galactic Body is being born... Imperial Law.. Imperial Order .. Imperial Protocols and Imperial Procedures are being drafted for this galaxy.

A living organism is starting to grow... the return of civilization to all...

The Return of the Empire."

Jenice looked at the impression (if any) she was making on the face of Vinda.

The man is hard to read.

She became serious.

"Now down to specifics. The Empire is not going to wage war with the Galaxy on some fool quest to simply own what can otherwise simply be controlled.

Any and every faction is welcome to recognize the power and authority of the Empire. Doing so puts the faction in the "sphere" of the Empire. In that sphere, you will be protected, you will be honored, and you will be recognized as if you were solely in the Empire's possession.

In specific terms, your shipping, transport, and interstellar laws will all become subject to Imperial Procedures and Law.. which, to be honest, doesn't change much with current local laws. But it does, however, streamline and maintain the consistency of things.

What you do with your corporation is your own business. Who you deal with is your own business. What arrangements you make with people within the Imperial "Sphere" or without is your own business.

We only ask that if your business takes you out of that "sphere" you keep Imperial interests in mind. Merge them with your own.

What is the benefit to Vinda? Besides rhetoric? Why did we make you halt your crushing of the CSA until things were right to topple Tenloss?

What do you gain?

Quite simply, the Galactic Economy. General Kaine knew that the Imperial Military and Martial Law is ill equipped to handle such a responsibility. The military destroy. The military conquers.. the military protects.. but it does not nurture.

War is good for business.. but it is not business in itself. War does not reach out and connect the planets of the Empire. A stable economy, however, does."

Jenice grinned.

"There is more than one way to take this galaxy."

Her grin faltered.

"I digress.

I was saying what you gain out of this whole situation, quite simply, it's this:

Cryonic Industries holdings have come under the control of Arliss Towers, Muunilist. We have picked up their contracts, properties and assets by default. The 256th, under General Kaine, went in and assumed control over the corporation's possessions when it became quite clear that the officers were losing everything to bankruptcy and dissolution. The credits they banked on became worthless overnight. Employees were laid off, and their citizens and other planetary residents living under the corporate planets feared for their livelyhood. Riots had begun to break out but the Empire stepped in to prevent total catastrophe.

Not all felt the upset and the Empire would like Cryonic's situation kept as quiet as possible.

But as I said, the Military is ill equipped to run a company. So what better hands to leave those markets that affect the galaxy at large than a successful, tested, tried and true businessman like you?

Vinda Corporation will hold joint ownership with Thyferra, Bespin, Mechis III and Telti. Each planet represents a major galactic market that the Empire will rest on.

You will be given a shipyard on each planet to begin building an even larger shipping/transport fleet to handle this responsibility.

But as such, you will be operating under Imperial Law, and according to Imperial Procedures. However, you will run the markets as you see fit. As long as the Empire benefits from your management style."

Ms. Arliss' eyes lit up. "How does Arliss Towers benefit? While we will not take in the awesome amount of profit you will, we also will not take on any capital expenses. For every sale you make, Arliss Industries will take a brokerage fee of 5%. Small to those corporations who strive to own planets and take on the headaches associated with it, but very large for a company with very low overhead.

We all make out like bandits... except, of course, for Mr. Tenloss."

"Mr. Vinda. You will have political clout within the Empire. You will be the most powerful neutral party within the Empire.

Vinda Corporation will be considered, by the Empire as part of the Empire (due to your accepting Imperial Law and operating procedures).

I think Kaine once referred to the position as 'Moff of the Imperial Galactic Economy'."

Jenice smiled slightly as if an afterthought occured to her. "I realize that you do business with other factions, most notably the New Republic. Imperial Law and Imperial Procedures will not hinder you from continuing.

Naturally, those outside the "Sphere" of the Empire, those who refuse to recognize the authority and power of the Empire will be considered enemies of the state and dealt with accordingly.

Whether militarily or diplomatically, this will be the decisions of the Imperial Politicians and the Military Command. It will not affect business...

..except in times of war. And should the Empire go to war to solidify, maintain, and impose Order upon this galaxy, then only those markets specifically and jointly held by the Vinda Corporation and the Empire will be affected.

How much? and In What Nature? will be left to you. You and your corporate officers will see the situation on a galactic scale and will be trusted to act accordingly.

The General believes in allowing those who know their business best to act with their best. Loyalty is rewarded, trust is earned..and accomplishment recognized.

You have been watched, tested, and found capable.

And so, General Kaine would like the offer I've just spoken to you about to be offered. It was his hope, his plan to set forth an idea that had appeal to all parties involved. A plan where all sides benefited according to what was important individually to them.

A plan that appealed to the best interest to all parties.

It is in your best interests to take on more markets and expand your base of operations. It was in our best interests to make this possible. It's in the Empire's best interests to leave the galactic economy in the hands of those who know how to make the most of it, how to nuture it, and make it grow.

So what do you say Mr. Vinda?"

Jenice took a sip from her glass, her eyes carefully watching the wheels turn inside Mr. Vinda's head.

There were others who might have been listening since Jenice did hear the door open and close several times. Whether it was a person or simply a droid was unknown for she kept her focus on the man in charge.

What happens now?

Truly, at this moment, history would be made one way or another...

There was a long pause from Vinda , as her words sank in..

"General Kaine must appreciate your mind Mr. Vinda. I've never seen him plan this much for the unforeseen...which is..exactly what you are. An unforeseen."

The Corporate Sector Authority was supposed to wipe the galaxy with you. The Moffs did not, could not believe in your resilience

"You see, Tenloss had assured the body politic of the Empire that he would finish off the CSA after they had finished you.

...Tenloss knew of this and did not warn me!?...

His face had frowned slightly upon hearing of Tenloss's involvement, and the slight twinge of empathy he had felt for him and Cryonics Industries, disappeared. Quickly.

Though, to be honest, Vinda had always known of his political aspirations, so deep down, the news came as no surprise...

"And that is the crux. For Order will be imposed on the Corporate Sector."

His eyes narrowed at this particularly ominous piece of information, but as Jenice continued, Vinda couldn't help but feel this wasn't strictly true...

The Empire is not going to wage war with the Galaxy on some fool quest to simply own what can otherwise simply be controlled.

That was it there! That, was, is, the real crux of the matter...

Control

For regardless of all the, prizes, riches or splendour that could be offered, at the end of the day, they all had the same price...

Vinda smiled inwardly...

.. this, General Kaine, must be a very shrewd, and tenacious individual....

Surely no-one could not help but to be impressed with such a grand design.

This worried Vinda greatly, and he chewed on the end of his Cigarra accordingly.

Not even the interruption of his Admiral bought him from his thoughts, although he heard him speak, Vinda was far too focused on more of what Ms Arliss spoke of.

But as I said, the Military is ill equipped to run a company. So what better hands to leave those markets that affect the galaxy at large than a successful, tested, tried and true businessman like you?

Vinda couldn't help but feel there were many motives at work for this proposal, yes the business-side of things was relevant and important, but....

...a single word seemed to reverb around his head...

...An unforeseen...

Maybe this is how they saw Vinda-Corp, as an unknown, if this was the case they would want, need, assurances...

...they are backing me into a corner...

...they need to know where our loyalties lie....

...what better way to do that, than to give me an offer I can't refuse?..."

Exhaling deeply, Vinda fixed his eyes firmly upon the woman sent before him...

...yes, this, General Kaine is subtle, indeed...

Vinda finally spoke, his words were calm, and collected...

"...Ms Arliss, this proposal, is extremely generous, I would like to thank you for bringing it to me..

Before I give my answer, I would like to meet the man who appears to have such, faith, in my abilities...

I would like to meet , this...

General benefactor..."

"Seth Vinda will refuse the offer...", Jenice told Simon with conviction.

The commander of the 256th raised an eyebrow at the woman's rather forceful conclusion. He merely replied quietly, "Then our part in the 'agreement' would be finished."

The CEO of Arliss Towers chewed on that for a minute until her brows furrowed and she started, "but.."

Kaine's hand stopped flicking the CSA coin he had been absently flipping and interrupted her, "Is Seth Vinda the only capable businessman in the galaxy?"

"No.."

"So his refusal is not so much a setback for us. You see, Jenice, the Empire does not need Vinda to run the Tibanna and Bacta markets. Should he refuse, we shall simply find someone else who's available.

Who runs the Imperial Galactic Market of these commodities is not important. What is important is that these markets become Imperial. To do that, we need to loosen Tenloss' grip..and to do that, we need..."

"Seth Vinda."

"Seth Vinda." Kaine agreed. "He will put his conquest of the Corporate Sector and his war with the CSA on hold based on the promise of something grand. We will deliver a grand proposal. Should he refuse, then we have then effectively controlled events in the Corporate Sector to our advantage at no cost to ourselves."

Kaine grinned. "Even the most novice of businessmen can appreciate the benefits of that."

Jenice Arliss' eyes narrowed, her mind thinking. "Neutrality will be his main obstacle to overcome.."

And that was when Kaine laughed. "Are you listening to yourself? You sound like the politician Tenloss wished he was." He turned to look her in the eye. "Jenice, corporations have no politics."

Jenice waved her hand in irritation. "You know what I mean."

The coin flipped again and was caught. "Does Vinda Corp do trade with the Empire?"

The CEO, looking for a trap, responded with reservation, "There have been some business dealings, yes. Mostly domestic goods."

"Do not their transports, when entering Imperial Space and when distributing goods, begin to follow Imperial Procedures and Protocols?"

"Yes, they do."

"Do not Vinda Corp transports assume the procedures and protocols of every local planet they trade and do business with?"

"Yes."

Kaine's voice became dry, "And yet they manage to not become unglued over neutrality issues then."

"But the difference," Arliss shot back, "Is that you will want them to adopt our procedures on their worlds! Theirs!"

"On the worlds offered joint ownership, of course. It's paperwork, Jenice. If Vinda were to run our markets, the Empire would like to know what's going on .

Granted, if Imperial Procedures were adopted throughout the Sector, it would make things more uniform, easier and efficient… but you see, I think you are confusing 'procedures' with 'accountability'.

Procedures are in place to help things run smoothly. In the Empire, failure to comply with said procedures usually requires action from the Ministry of Justice or other authority branch. With Vinda Corp, any failure to comply with the procedures would by handled by his own methods of Justice. Imperial Procedures and Protocols were designed to be the most efficient way to maximize energy and time with any given situation. If he doesn't wish to take advantage of the work that went into their development, it is ultimately his loss."

"I don't know… I just think he will reject the offer." Jenice said, sighing.

"Order will be imposed on the Corporate Sector sooner or later. It is not in the Empire's best interests to come to have control over galactic markets, to lay our foundation, only to be screwed over by shady businesses operating in the Corporate Sector. Once the CSA is gone, if Vinda does not restore order and bring the Corporate Sector to heel, then that leaves the door open for lessor companies to attempt to fill CSA's old shoes. Vinda Corp will have to contend with someone else.

The chaos must… the chaos will end."

Simon tossed the coin to Jenice, and stood up. She caught it deftly and flipped it in her hand.

"It would definitely be the safer route to say, 'no'. It is a dangerous galaxy out there. I have a report here on the Jutraalians attempting to force inspections on other companies regardless of their political neutrality."

"On what grounds?" Arliss asked hotly.

"Their guns, presumably." Kaine murmured.

"Fools!" Jenice spat out.

The General merely shrugged to himself. "Live and learn, I suppose. However, if the Jutraalian course ends up making them… unstable, it would expose our flank."

He sighed.

"I may need to make a trip there."

Jenice stood and walked up to him, her eyes widening. "They don't exactly.. like you, Simon."

Kaine's eyes held some humor, "They'll get over it."

Before he started to walk out of the room, Jenice moved closer and straightened his tunic slightly. His hand went out and drew her eyes up to face his.

Softly he said, "I know leaving Muunilist is hard for you. Do not worry about your assignment. Vinda's response is irrelevant. Things will continue to proceed forward whether he says 'yes' or 'no'. The only thing he can alter is his place in the coming events and how he benefits. If he denies them, we've still accomplished our end."

He then pulled out a small datapad and handed it to her. "When he does answer, take him here."

As she read the contents on the pad, she asked curiously, "No matter if he says 'yes' or 'no'?"

A shadow of a smile played on Kaine's lips. "His answer is irrelevant to us, but not to him. There are ramifications to consider no matter how he chooses."

Jenice smiled, suddenly understanding, "He'll play for time.."

"Wouldn't you, Jenice? That is what would make him such a good asset to us should he accept."

His finger hit the pad. "What we show him will either frighten him or embolden him."

His eyes burned with a silent fire, amused at the wheels of circumstances beginning to interlock.

"Let's find out shall we?"

*

Present…. Brentaal

"Multiple reversion vectors!" shouted a tracking officer, his tunic sporting the Corporate Seal of Vinda. The extreme range capabilities of Brentaal's Automated Dectection System had fingered the approaching ships before they emerged, but their exit points being so far out from the planet, nothing was available to intercept in time.

The recognition codes for the ships coming out of hyperspace were Imperial.

The fleet seemed poised, when exiting, to simply fly by the system (as if from the Perlemian Trade Route)…however, the armada seemed to slow.. and eventually stop.

Maintaining transmission silence..

Captain Quinn glanced at the reports as all ships signaled successful reversion from Ralltiir.

"And so it begins…" he murmured..

"Do not interfere with local shipping. Maintain silent running.."

Bonadan

Jenice could not help but smile as she felt a small datapad in her business attire.

One of these days.. Kaine.. one of these days..

"Then let us not waste time here."

She stood and opened the door to Mr. Vinda's office, startling some Admiral who had entered before.

"You, send a signal to the Imperial warships in orbit using the following encryption code."

As she rattled off a series of transmission codes, she looked to the officer as he waited for the actual content of the message.

"One word.

'Endgame'

Patch their response to Mr. Vinda's office."

The response was immediate as a holographic projection of presumably the lead ship's Captain appeared.

Ms. Arliss started without preamble, Vinda's words having put the ball into play and started the machinery that would lead to Endgame.

"Captain, please secure my personal ship within your hanger and make preparations for the arrival of myself, Mr. Vinda and any whom he desires to accompany him."

"Very good Ma'am. We have received an encoded response from the fleet. They are on station."

"Then we won't be long." Jenice said.

Turning to Mr. Vinda, she smiled slightly, "You wish to meet the, how do you put it, benefactor? Then we go to Brentaal. Where, I suppose, there is a 'situation' which your other employees..," she pointed to several agitated people in uniforms hovering outside waiting anxiously to have Vinda's ear,".. are here to inform you of."

Bonadan

Vinda raised an eyebrow at the visage of the Captain flickering via the holo-feed. The Vinda-Corp CEO's eyes narrowing slightly as he both watched and listened to Jenice's reaction to his comments.

...this has been premeditated...they expected my response, either that, or it doesn't matter...

Glancing in the direction of where she was pointing, he too caught sight of the advisors lingering outside, and nodded deliberately towards them. Then turned his attention back to Jenice Arliss, his voice had deepened , burdened from the weight of the situation. He rose from his seat, and straightened his suit jacket...

"...very well...Ms Arliss...very well..."

(he gestured to one of the advisors)

"...this gentleman shall escort you to your shuttle, I shall be with you shortly..."

His eyes made eye contact with the rest of the advisors once more...

"...but if you would be so kind , as to excuse me for a moment..."

With that he bowed a little, and watched as Jenice nodded in acknowledgement and left the room followed by one of his staff, and the rest of the entourage outside joined him inside his office...

Sighing deeply , he spoke in resignation, already guessing what he was about to be informed of.

"...Get me Achinta, and Admiral Katta...quickly.."

Continuing from Endgame: Moving into Play

Aboard the Galactus...Enroute to Ralltiir..

The Galactus was well out of Jutraalian Space, followed by the TJE warships on loan from the Viscount.

A generous Viscount indeed.

Kaine had wondered if the Jutraalians would feel somewhat honorbound to repay the kindness the Empire extended to them in their war with the Galactic Defense Initiative.

The TNO General had left the bridge entering a private room off to the side, anxious to obtain information as to what had transpired during their lengthy travel and visit to Despayre. The group of vessels had, for some time, traveled under a communications blackout while, making his travels a secret, also cut him off from the rest of the galaxy.

In his private room was a large, table with a top resembling smooth black glass.

"Tactical." he ordered removing his necklace and a display of the galaxy suddenly appeared hovering over the table. Different from the usual holographic transmissions, this digital rendering was both clear and precise and his fingers entered a code revealing controls under the smooth glassy surface.

Deftly and quickly his commands rotated the galactic image, focussing on certain areas and enlarging, transposing and separating them.

He felt a slight shudder in the Galactus as the mighty Reign Star Destroyer (and fleet) exited hyperspace outside the system of Ralltiir.

Almost immediatly, computer consols and screens suddenly rose from the table's surface under the galaxy image informing Simon that he was not alone.

The recognition codes of the 256th Command Group had been received and the General smiled faintly to himself.

The encrypted data bursts that were received to his private room automatically began to alter the data that was accompanying the areas of interest he had selected.

The Kuat Division was on station. The Corellian Trade Spine and the Corellian Run both merged on the Republic Capital of Corellia. Yet, thousands of lightyears out, the Corellian Trade Spine merged with the Hydian Way not far from the Imperial World of Kuat. It was here, at the merging of the Hydian Way and the Corellian Trade Spine, that the division rested amid the celestial void.

The Fondor Command had also engaged in wargames inside the Rimma Trade Route.

With Ralltiir Commands and the fleet at Brentaal, the Perleman Trade Route was also covered...

There would be no reinforcements.

An update regarding the Cryonics debacle made Kaine's smile broaden for the Empire had begun establishing it's foundation.

Re-establishing..

There were also vague reports regarding Imperial Intelligence backlash toward his current operation. Isard was becoming extremely resourceful but ultimately, her efforts were too little, too late.

Another report indicated the Regent safely hidden away.

Projected courses and events were entered and played with as Kaine plotted the course of his fleet past the system of Chandrilla.

His eyes gazed toward the catalyst.

On one screen, almost alone, rested the key to the entire operation and underneath it, information regarding the forgotten Imperial Academy and University. One of the staunchest allies of the Empire in days past.

How could we have forgotten them?

Corulag

Kaine pushed several commands into his consol revealing a hyperspace route not previously known.

The Corulag-Jatir Hyperroute.

With his now whole Command Division, including Captain Chandler, here on Ralltiir they were now ready to move on to the final phase.

The Strengthening of the Foundation was about to begin.

Onward to Brentaal..

“Yes Mr. Vinda, I understand completely. Sorry to have left so fast, but……………… yes…. ……………….….I understand…. …. ……. ……. ok……………… …right…………………. ok, I’ll get on it right away…. out.”

Shipping lanes blocked, all the common hyperspace routes out of commission. Admiral Katta, sat back in his chair. The Empire was coming to pay a visit to VC… Simon Kain was coming, to be exact. And a little birdy had whispered in Vinda’s ear, he was bringing friends to the party.

Pulling himself toward his communications desk again, Kas sent in a few commands. And then a few more. He smoothed his hair slightly, and then stared directly into a small, red light.

“Task Force Commanders, this is Admiral Katta. You are all being re-routed. Your cords will be sent to you as they become available. Each of you will receive separate instructions along with your cords; follow them to the T.
Make no attempt at force; we are assembling as a precaution. Katta out, and may the force be with you.”

The communiqué ended. It would be a few hours for most of the fleet to assemble; some of the ships would be here in 50 or so hours.

“The Empire, coming to see VC….” He hit the com.

“Bridge, prepare the fleet to move. Kir system. Silent running, we don’t want anyone detecting us.”
