Empire's Shadows: A Funeral for Twelve (TCS specifically)

Was it not Joe who begged for mercy at the emperor's feet? Was it not Admiral Schmoe who cried out that freedom be rung, but yet when he was returned to his fleet in shame, he dropped biological weapons on his own people? It was a sham, it was pathetic that the admiral could dare call himself humane.

Abroad the many spectacles of the Rogue Imperial capital of Despayre, none were more so great than the remarkable Rogue Imperial Palace. Standing one hundred feet up and boasting thirty miles wide...it was a sight to see over...and over.

Many treaties had been signed with the Chimeran Syndicate, the Chimeran's whom had committed countless war crimes, and it was growing increasingly annoying to agree <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> not<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> to assault his forces, only to be stabbed in the back. He had agreed to allow Chimeran use of his planet, Ghorman...yet they had no intentions of leaving. It seemed...they had to be forced off.

Deep in the Rogue Imperial Palace, thousands were lined up before the public square, thousands who were meant to see a great happening this day...but also a tragic one.

There were eleven men, all dressed in Chimeran uniforms, recognized from the Battle of Halowan, where a <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Victory<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-Class Star Destroyer had been liberated from their control, and brought back to Despayre for trial. They had been on Death Row long enough...far longer than they deserved. Today that day would end.

"You men, have been found guilty of mutiny...treachery...and conspiracy to the highest degree. You have attempted the life...of our dear Emperor Fearsons," started a loud, noble sounding voice. He held a strong Imperial accent. "After a seemingly endless trial...we have found you and your contraband guilty of these crimes, and you have been found guilty...for causing the death of our most beloved...Admiral Wyldan...in your attack on Chandrilla and the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Death's Hand<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->...the emperor's <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Eclipse<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-Class Super Star Destroyer. With your sentence...comes death. Are you ready to take it today?"

The men simply stood defiantly. They stood on a high perch, with nooses lined all around their necks. Below the platform they stood on, was the casket and body of the beloved Admiral Wyldan, who had sacraficed his own life to see to the victory at Mylock IV.

"Whether you are ready or not is no longer the issue. We turn your lives...to our beloved highness...the emperor."

Fearsons was sitting on a beautiful throne of ivory and fur, with platinum here and there. The PeFauna stood on either side of him, watching dilligently for any snipers or potential murderers of the Rogue Imperial emperor. After all had been set, there was no doubt that the Chimeran forces could not have planted any explosives into the chambers, and were hiding nowhere in the esteemed palace.

"I deem you eleven commanders personally responsible for the death of my good friend, and traitors to the Rogue Imperial government. You are a mockery to all that stands for truth and justice. Today, you shall meet your end in the name of the Jedi, the Rogue Empire, and of Admiral Wyldan. May this be a lesson to all those who would betray me or the glorious Rogue Empire," Fearsons echoed his booming voice. His glowing crimson orbs narrowed grimacingly. "Loose!"

A trap door at the bottom of the platform let loose and each of the man dropped. There was a snap from seven of them...the others would have to do it the hard way. It was indeed tragic that the men had to lose their lives this way...but there was no room for traitors, there was no room for the evil of a Dark Jedi in the Rogue Empire.

Fearsons waited the good few minutes for the men to let out their last breaths of life and inevitably die from the strangulation hanging gave. He turned to one of the PeFauna and nodded, who in turn gave a nod to the band. The Rogue Imperial march blazed over every inch of Rogue Imperial City, and Wyldan's casket was lifted from the ground via repulsor lifts. It managed to aim itself toward the sea, next to the palace's great walls, over the palace's cliffs. It dropped into the ocean and as the last note was played...capsized...sinking under permanently.

"May you rest in peace...my friend," Fearsons said grimly, and rose from his throne. His pitch black guards moved in formation, and he was off toward his meeting hall, where some expected guests were waiting.






In the meeting chamber of the Rogue Imperial palace, there were six men. One from the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Imperial<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-Class Star Destroyer <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Hell Bringer<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, the others from the Chimeran army. Fearsons found his seat across from them, and nodded, awaiting the meeting to start.

"You have called me here...why Chimerans?" Fearsons demanded in a harsh tone. The captain of the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Hell Bringer<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> rose solemnly.

"You...have demonstrated the true might of the Rogue Empire. My colleagues and I have agreed...Admiral Schmoe is nothing but a self serving tyrant...he is using us, as were those eleven commanders out there.

"I see, and this means what to me?" Fearsons barked. This seemed to come as a surprise to the commanders.

"We have, agreed to join your empire. These six members of the army and their men...with my Star Destroyer, we wish to defect."

"Defect?"

"Yes," he said with a bit of shame.

"Why? Why after betraying me?"

"Because we have found the wrongness in our ways, we deeply apologize for this, we hope to make it up to you, to prove we are indeed commanders for the Rogue Empire. To show our appreciation...we bring with us the bioweapons of the Chimeran Syndicate."

"Really?" he let out a grin eagerly. "I see...where can I pick up these ships?"

"They are currently waiting in the Halowan system, all we need is an envoy from your forces to pick it up there."

"I see...expect my forces to be there at once."





The Star Destroyer <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Disruptor<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> whined itself out of hyperspace in the Halowan system, well away from Chimeran control. If all would go according to plan...Fearsons would have a great foothold in his war against the Chimeran Syndicate.

"Ok Echo 1 3 and 5 move in and take a tight formation around the emperor's shuttle and get ready for debarking in ten," said the excited flight leader of Echo Group. His TIE Defender was brought down in front of the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Svelte<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-Class Shuttle that Fearsons had used for some reason this time. He was going to board, inspect, bring his troops in, and then entirely seize the Star Destroyer and bring it back to Despayre for further inspection.

"Is all good over there?" Echo 2 called, and Echo 1 replied with an acknowledgement.

"The shuttle has begun its docking operation," one of the flight officers reported.

The strange, beetle shaped shuttle docked itself onto the former Chimeran craft, disembarking the emperor. The TIE Defender pilots gritted their teeth. <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> What if this is a trap?<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Traveling through hyperspace a Victory class II Star Destroyer, the Zealous Mist, combat ready after their run in with the Yuuzhan Vong that had had forced the destruction of the Tempest Mist. Commodore Det'aan was glad that was over and the Vong Warriors that had been in the primary docking bay had been removed. The Mist was onroute to the Halowan system again the site of its first victory over TCS. Even though the mission was expected to go well there was no way of knowing for sure so Siather had the crew running through combat readiness drills constantly as they travelled through hyperspace.

"It won't be long now." Siather thought to himself as he looked at the hyperspace counter. "Only two more minutes."

The Det'aan warrior was proud of his past and his career so far with TRE. He wasn't going to let the emporer down. Not after such great loss of life and equipment at Jaminere. The Zealous Mist was lucky that he was able to think quickly or they would have likely gone the way of the Tempest Mist when those projectiles hit them.

Siather looked up at the counter again.

"Are the TIE Defenders and TIE Fighters to launch as soon as we are out of hyperspace?"

"Yes Commodore."

"Excellent, when they launch they are to form a standard defensive grid off out bow."

The helm officer started counting down from 20 to the exit from hyperspace. The count reached zero and the Zealous Mist came out of hyperspace launching fighters immediately. There as promised was the Hell Bringer waiting for the smaller ship.

"Bring us closer and establish a communcations link with them."

The Zealous Mist was silently gliding toward the bigger ship waiting for a reply.

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Admiral Joe Schmoe noticed an anomaly crossing his board. The Hell Bringer wasn't on station in Pantolomin and they had requested Bioweapons. Fearing a Rogue Empire trap he immeaditly left system with a sizeable taskforce. His flagship and ISD mkIII, the Avarice a ion Cannons Cruiser, Lusankya a Imperial Star Destroyer mkII and Death the abolisher cruiser. it was know twenty seconds from emergence from hyperspace. All fighters were ready to launch as were the assault shuttles. 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0. With a flash the ships reverted into realspace. Immeaditly they launched all their shuttles more specifically the Exodus raiders. They zoomed over to Hell Bringer and latched onto it's shields. The Destruction zoomed in towards the obviously outmatched Disrupter. the Lusankya went into a covering position over the Hell Bringer and the Avarice went after the Victory Star Destroyer. The abolisher pulled back and powered up it's pulse mass mines.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Fearsons had suspected foul play...of course he never once believed the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Hell Bringer<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> had sent him up...he simply reminded himself this sort of thing was to be expected from rebels who were desperate for their own way. If they chose to attack their own Star Destroyer...no doubt they would lose the rest of the support from their people...which was already hanging on edge as it was.

His Svelte Shuttle had docked in the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Hell Bringer<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, his PeFauna quickly shoving out to the hangar, and his Wookie guard, whom Jaina had entrusted to him before she left, moved as well, roaring at any who had gotten close to the emperor, in an attempt to keep the Rogue Imperial leader safe.

The captain of the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Hell Bringer<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> rushed to him eagerly and fell to a knee respectively. The crimson eyed emperor narrowed his eyes.

"Rise commander, we have much work to do to repel your pathetic government," Fearsons stated as he began walking in perfect step with his pitch black guards. His Wookie was not quite so graceful, but what it lacked in majesty it easily made up for in dignity and intimidation.

"The Chimeran attack force outnumbers us quite easily, the Admiral himself is here..." the captain seemed quite worried about the battle, worried that the outcome will not be satisfactory to the Rogue Imperial needs. Worried that his defection would be his demise.

"I have everything under control, do not underestimate the power of the Force," Fearsons said quite simply, and the captain was left standing in his tracks as the emperor made his way out for the inspection.

Fearsons' escort and sister ship, the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Red Dog<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, curved itself away from the Rogue Imperial flag ship, <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Disruptor<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> and began gliding toward the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->. It had left itself far too open for such a flanked attack by the Victory Star Destroyer.

"Attention Tempest Mist, move into attack vector and focus on the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Imperial<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-Class Mark III Star Destroyer <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, it is the admiral's flagship!" blazed over every radio in the Rogue Imperial task force. There was one Dreadnaught here beyond the three Star Destroyers, but that did not particularly assist them in anyway until they were distracted.

The <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Disruptor<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> began a decent toward the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, and it easily outmatched the enemy in every way possible. It was bigger, had better shields and hull, and had more turbo lasers and ion cannons due to constant modifications. However as the turbo lasers from the enemy began spacing toward it....it disappeared.

"Cloaking device has been activated," a heavily Imperial accented officer explained from the bridge of the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Red Dog<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->.

Turbo lasers from the smaller Victory Star Destroyer went unrelentingly against the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, followed by the Dreadnaught's, which easily began teasing the shields until they lost a percentage or two.

Echo 2 launched her rockets in an attack volley at the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->...all four of them, which as well began tearing open the shields rapidly. But she paid for her actions, and the seering turbo lasers from the enemy Star Destroyer crushed her TIE Defender. The battle had begun.

"Bring us about and concentrate all fire on the ISD mk III Destruction. Have all the TIE bombers launched to attack the Ion Cannon Cruiser Avarice and it is to be escorted by the remaining TIE fighters. Deploy the TIE defenders to attack the shuttles that are harassing the Hell Bringer."

The Zealous Mist turned and rolled slightly to present a better attack profile against the ISD mk III any weapons from the comparably smaller VSD that could not be aimed at the Destruction were aimed at the Avarice to assist in the destruction of that ship. The 9 TIE fighters remaining after the battle with the Yuuzhan Vong swarmed around the Avarice while the 12 TIE bombers launched a volley of missiles at it. It was getting to be important for the survival of the Zealous Mist that the Avarice be either chased off or destroyed. When the shields on the Avarice started to faulter a bit under the stress of the impacts from all the missiles and the strikes from the turbolasers of Zealous Mist a slightly releaved expression could be seen on the faces of most of the bridge crew.

"Sir the Destruction doesn't seem to be bothering with us should we continue to fire on it?"

"Yes we will continue to concentrate the majority of the fire on it. How are the TIE defenders doing against those shuttles?"

"They report that they have engaged them and have so far taken no losses. They have managed to damage the shields on some of them but none have been destroyed yet."

"Ok, get me a link to the Emporer so I can make a report."

"Yes sir, ready sir."

"Your majesty we have engaged the Destruction as ordered and it seems to be ignoring us as you would ignore a fly. I hope to prove to them that this fly has a stinger and is actually a wasp. The Ion Cruiser Avarice has been engaged by our TIE bombers and fighters and its sheilds will faulter soon. The shuttles setting up around the Hell Bringer are being engaged by our TIE defenders and we hope to have some of them destroyed soon as well. Any amendments for our orders or should we continue in this fashion?"

ooc: a 1,250m ship? I don't think the shields will falter soon and there's backups anyways. Also the Hell Bringer shields have been reduced and the shields on the raiders are still perfect.

ic:<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> The Rogue Impearial fighters were stupid. They'd completely ignored the 15 squadrons of shadow droids that his ships had launched. They all zoomed in on the Tie Bombers and Tie fighters covering them. Firing their laser cannons they hit many of the fighters. Some flamed out going into uncontrollable spins others were hit but not critically. Then they were on the bombers the 12 Tie defenders were attacking the Defenders assaulting the Destruction. Avarice had moved in on the rear of the Dreadnaught and began firing on it. That coupled with the return fire from Destruction forced it to divide it's shields. Lusankya had gone after both the Victory's driving a wedge in between them. Her batteries on both sides fired at the Victories. There shields began to falter. Destruction was firing all batteries that had a lock on a target and that was alot considering that it was surrounded. The Skipray blastboats and Missile Boats had a different mission. Armed with telementary from the Crystal Gravity Trap aboard Destruction they fired missiles and laser cannons at the Disruptor. These impacted against the unshielded hull of the Disruptor since cloaking shields turn off shields and most guns. The Sentenials and dropships had been launched and they had made some landings on Hell Bringer. The Raiders had also mades some landings but they were alternating it so that some were at the shields. Some landing and some loading up. The Elite troops and droid troopers aboard quickly moved through any opposition trhey met ut most of the men they met were loyal to the Chimaeran Syndicate and they joined the force.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Fearsons, under normal circumstances, would have hesitated, he would have been afraid. But instead Fearsons had an easy counter to this....attempted breech of his new Star Destroyer's hull.

As the enemies tried to pour onto the newly captured Rogue imperial craft, it kicked its boosters and began to move slightly, throwing most into space to either freeze to death, or suffer from lack of oxygen, or worse...be droids stuck in space, being picked off by turbo lasers. Chimera Fleet was so seldom gaining in intelligance...so seldomly.

However, a few of the dark troopers had managed to reach one of the control centers of the ship, which <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> would<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> have been an issue...had the emperor not wisely shut down the area and locked it...keeping the dark troopers in there and allowing storm troopers to surround the location incase of breech.

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> I had always thought people attacked with some form of strategy and tactics...this is just insulting.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Fearsons let a small sigh exasperate from his cold, hard lips. The Force had told him the next move, what he would order next, a quick shield reallocation to the fore of the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->...no problem. He let his eyelids shield his glowing crimson orbs, and he began to concentrate on the battle, yearning to command it hence forth. He could hear the screams of dying men and women as seering turbo lasers collided into the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Imperial<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-Class Mark III Star Destroyer...and Joe was willing to waste them, just to try to capture the emperor. <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Why is he so stupid?<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

He watched through the foreward viewport, the transparisteel glinting slightly off of Halowan's gleaming sun, watching as the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Disruptor<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> focused back into view behind the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Devastation<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> and began ripping into the engines and bridge deflector shields. A mixture of turbo laser fire and missiles quickly, and swiftly, put the first deflector shield well out of commission.

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> They seem to have everything under control here.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> Battles were so trivial when the opposing side was run by an arrogant fool.

"Bring the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Hellbringer<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> around, concentrate all firepower on that Abolisher cruiser...we're going to show the Chimerans we mean business."

He winced suddenly as several shadow droids flew past the bridge in a strafing fury, trying to smash down the deflector shields, but they were no match for precise turbo laser shots, sending four of the five that managed to get to the bridge into seering, flaming ash.

Using a bit of the Force around the commanders of the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, Fearsons decided to play a quick little game.

"This may be cheating but..." the emperor trailed off and closed his eyes as he waved his hand slightly. The captain of the ship had forgot his orders...completely. The <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> seemed to take a hit for that and it began to swirve away from the newly captured Rogue Imperial craft.





The Dreadnaught <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Halo<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> had begun taking several hits from the Abolisher Cruiser, but the engine wash from the Dreadnaught had finished off any fore shields it formerly had. The captain, wisely, reallocated the shields, but the TIE Defenders dealt with the rear of it by dropping rockets on it, and with the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Zealoust Mist<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> pounding on it...the cruiser first crumbled in the rear, and then began coursing several tiny explosions in several critical spots in the ship, and then swiftly blowing it to the abyss.

"Abolisher down, Abolisher down, contact reinforcements at once!" one of the flight officers explained from the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Disruptor<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, and thus the distress signal was sent, soon Rogue Imperial reinforcements would arrive.

The <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Disruptor<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, whom was somewhat above and behind the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Devastation<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->...intentionally staying away from the engine wash, continued to pound the rear of the Mark III Star Destroyer, while the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Hell Bringer, Red Dog<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> and <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Zealous Mist<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> continued to hit to the fore. Fighters had been launched from both craft, and with thus the Rogue Empire began taking down the shadow droids and shields to the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Destruction<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> slowly began seeping away.

IG 88 and IG 99 flew towards the CS fighters in their two differently heavily modified Trilon, Inc. Aggressor Assault Fighters. They had seen the bunty posted by Emperor Fearsons for al Chimearen craft with proof of destruction. That would not be hard, as the Emperor was right here. The two craft flew side by side towars the fighters, with their stealth systemes up. Then they brock apart and went after fighters speratly. These two droids always worked together and would do anything to get a credit. IG 88 turned after a Shadow Droid, while IG 99 went after a TIE Defender. The pair of front firing concussion missiles on IG 88's ship tried and tried again to get a lock on the Shadow Droid. This wasn't working so IG 88 opened up fire with it's turret ion cannon and two front firing laser cannons. They bounced the fighter around and then finally they hit it. They hit again and again untill the Shadow Droid was destroyed. Then IG 88 turned on a Raider. These curious ships, designed by the New Republic had the ability to drain shield power.
Meanwhile IG 99 was chasing a TIE Defender. Then it got a tractor beam lock on the fighter. IG 99 pulled the fighter infornt of his two medium capital ship ion cannons and open fire. The ion bolts didn't do a lot of damage to shields, but he didn't want to waste his limited supply of proton torpedoes. And he was in the middle of using his two meduim capital ship turreted laser cannons to shot at the TIE Defenbder that had just appeared on his A$$. Then TIE Defender infront of him stoped trying to evade his attakcs. It stayed in a straight line course. The ion cannons had gotten the shields down and had shorted out the ships systems. IG 99 did a quick 180 turn that woudl have killed a human and went after the TIE Defender on his tail. The two laser cannons had cause the shields of the TIE Defender to go down to half strenght. Unfortunalty the shields on IG 99s ship were down around 75 percent.

The Gand grinned as he saw the abolisher cruiser explode. Now it was time for the Raging Night Hammer to prove herself. She was already nearby waiting for the abolisher to be destroyed. She wouldn't take much time to get here. Siather returned his concentration to the situation at hand. The Zealous Mist was loosing her sheilds fast to the ISD mk III.

"Roll to the port us 180 degrees and start putting all power generated by for the sheilds to the port side. The starboard shields should be able to take some more damage. Make sure you target the Avarice again that ship is starting to annoy me."

The Zealous Mist rolled and began firing on the ISD mk III again as well as the Avarice. The Mist was going to have to move out of the crossfire the damage to the shields on both sides would eventually collaspe them.

"Move us out and around the the rear of the ISD mk III we will get in behind her where she has the fewest guns."

The Mist started gliding toward the rear of the ISD mk III.




Captain Marks of the Raging Night Hammer waited slightly impatiently as the hyperspeed counter started to reach the 10 second countdown.

"Time to reversion 10 seconds." one of the officers in the pit finally reported.

"Are all fighters and missile boats and Assault Gunboats preped for launch?"

"Yes Sir."

Marks stood anxiously waiting to get out of hyperspace and prove to the Commodore that he had made the right choice. The mighty Allegiance-Class Super Star Destroyer Raging Night Hammer finally whipped out of hyperspace and all squadrons of fighters and gunboats and missile boats were launched immediately. 5 abolisher cruisers following close behind.




Siather grinned again.

"Right on time he muttered to himself."

"Captain Marks engage the Destruction with as many guns as you can and target the Avarice with all remaining weapons."

"Yes sir."

The Raging Night Hammer started gliding in toward the Destruction firing all available weapons on her. The missile boats started targeting enemy fighters and firing off their missiles all pretty much at once adding more confusion to the battle. The TIE Interceptors, TIE Advanced, Assault Gunbaots and TIE Interceptors started picking up targets and engaging as they got closer. The TIE bombers started targeting the Avarice and firing their missiles at it. The 5 abolishers hung back, waiting.

The Gand attempted a human equivalent of a smirk and was surprised to find how easily it came in a situation like this. This wasn't going to last long anymore.

Admiral Hawk's small task force came out of hyperspsce and joined the rest of the TRE forces.The Chimaeran Syndicate had used bioweapons,and The Alliance would never condone such an action to be used in offense.Therefore it was helping with the final assault on the Rogue Imperial rebels.
