Empire's Shadow: Kessel

Emperor Fearsons, aboard the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Imperial<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-Class Star Destroyer <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Disruptor<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, monitored over the massing freighters and troop transports, littering the space around Despayre. They were hiding safely behind the gencores' shields, which could easily repell any bombardments the Rogue Empire's enemies attempted. There were hundreds of them, all ready to ram themselves head on into combat under any circumstances. The enemy was deceitful and unlawful, deserving no mercy like anything Fearsons had offered in the past.

Spies indicated several weak points in their defenses, one of them specifically being their unrelenting desire to clear out the enemy with ridiculously enormous fleets. Of course, that fleet would be downsized this day, preventing them from fruther cowardly strikes against the Rogue Empire.

A grin curved onto his smoothe, calm face, the Force was paving the way for him, Fearsons knew it was the right thing to do. He clutched his lightsaber at his side, i twas large and double-sided, like that of the Sith Lord DArth Maul and that of Exar Kunn. Of course, the emperor and founder of the Rogue Empire was not Sith like the formers, but rather a full blooded Jedi...but not quite a knight...yet.

As he had finished monitoring the troop and munitions shipments, Fearsons reported away from the large transpiristeel viewport. The PeFauna guards were quick to greet him, surrounding him in typical box formation. Sometimes he truly admired the order and unrivaled training the ebony robed guards maintaned.

They walked to the comms station, and everyone working leapt to their feet to stand at attention. "As you were," FEarsons said, moving in front of the relay station. The enlisted soldier in his way quickly moved, and the emperor lifted the communications device.

"Attention Rogue Imperial First fleet, attention Abyss Fleet, this is Emperor Fearsons, under direct order of the emperor, Task Force Minotaur and Task Force Eclipse, jump to destination Alpha and Alpha-Alpha." There were several "Rogers" and "Aye Aye sirs"...then they jumped, leaving behind the system as if they were never there.

Charlie leader had been given special orders that he was forced to question mentally at least. His X-Wing was not speeding toward the Mon CAl's shipyards to investigate possible spice smuggling, they were not making sure turbolasers were not being placed on kilometer long ships. No, instead the Rogue Empire had declared the immediate carpet bombing of the Kessel surface.

This had surprised those involved due to the fact that this would be the first carpet bombing raid done by the Rogue Empire, of course it was a relatively upopulated planet, thus making life very easy since they could destroy without harming civilian life.

As the X-Wings penetrated the thin atmosphere, the hazy red planet came into view, and the S-Foils were locked into attack position. This was also the first time the Rogue Empire had used X-Wings, it was completely unorthadox and out of uniform for Fearsons' empire. There was a large station ahead of the X-Wings fighters, reading Mon Cal IFF codes. This was not the target. If it weren't for the peace treaty signed at Mon Calamari, Charlie Leader had no doubts he'd be dead by now.

The six fighter flight group swirved past the former enemy base, dodging high crimson mountains until they saw the first signs of Alliance forces. They wre two turbolaser turrets, no doubt with radar dishes inside. However, it was still two clicks away, well out of firing range.

"Attention Rogue Imperial X-Wings, this is Cdr. Treveen of the New Alliance, you are flying in restricted air space in attack posture, turn back at once," the Alliance representative demanded, a hint of fear in his voice. The X-Wings did not waver or respond. "Rogue Imperial X-Wings, this is you rlast chance, leave or surrender at once or be destroyed."

Charlie leader switched on private channels. "Arm lasers and fire at will," he said, and cluthced the trigger of his yoke stick excitedly. The targetting box turned green on the enemy cannon, indicating a good shot...he took it. COuntless red blasts of energy spewed forth from all the fighters, incinerating the turrets.

"Ok Charlie group, break and attack," the leader said, pulling toward the edge of the mountain defenses. As he passed the mountain, what seemed to be a great amount of friction met him as he went through, an artificial atmosphere.

"Ok guys, hang tight, expect enemy defenses to be strong," Charlie Two reported, and he couldn't have been more right. As the final word escaped his mouth, Charlie Three combusted from a missile hit.

The star port just ahead of Charlie Leader looked like a tempting target, and thus opened fire on the parked X-Wings and droid fighters, tearing the unmanned craft into oblivion. They, with the rest of the space port, were destroyed quickly and violently.

"Air superiority established, commence carpet bombing," Charlie leader ordered as a SAM site near him exploded. Several tanks and Darktroopers from below attempted to blast the attacking X-Wings but none of their attacks hit.

The missile tubes, normally holding proton torpedos, unleashed a massive wave of air to surface bombs, sending the entire remaining installation in flames from the countless bombs ruining from the X-Wings. There were of course, still several persons left alive, but the major integrity of the station was gone. One more dent needed to be made before the X-Wings could go home. Pulling his X-Wing up toward the enemy artificial-atmosphere generators, Charlie suqadron let loose an unrelenting assault on the generators, destroying any air the troops below formerly had.

"Charlie Two make one more pass!" Charlie leader called excitedly. The X-Wing flew past the troops and workers trying to flee on the surface, and in a delayed reaction, the person below incinerated. "Nice shot Charlie Two." The base was in ruin, and the Rogue Empire now had a foothold to gain at Kessel, beyond that of the Mon Cal's areas given to them. With that minor relay station out of the way, they could deploy troops in and out.

In the space outside Kessel a similar surprise had occured when the Rogue Empire's task force known as Eclipse jumped into the system, the mighty <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Death's Hand<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> leading the large force. There would be no parley, this time the Rogue Empire was on the offensive. Fortunately for the Alliance, the strike force was seven klicks away, well out of the gun range...but easily within super laser range, and according to the energy read out of the super star destroyer, it was nearly charged.

Three TIE Bombers emerged from the fleet, followed by four TIE Interceptors, Beta and Gamma Group. It was the standard attack force on installations, if the Bombers were destroyed, more would emerge for the attack. The Star Destroyere too were inbound for the shipyard, but it was too far away to begin any attacks, ETA on attack vector was four minutes. The Alliance would have to wait...with jammed communications.

OOC: Fearsons the entire'carpet bombing' of Kessel was illegal.First of all TRE X-Wings can't just 'fly into Kessel' at their whim. Before you can enter the Kessel atmosphere you have to recieve clearance from Alliance traffic controllers and second, you have to get pass the TNA 3rd Fleet.Staff?

Grand Admiral Logan sat, reading the reports that were flooding in from Kessel. The Rogue Empire attacked, finally.Fortunately Logan had contingency plans for such an event. He regarded Colonel Blackkon who was standing at attention in front of him.

"I want you to take what we have of the 4th fleet to Kessel.Use the Skiprays to attack the Eclipse and the Battle Dragons and the Legacys to join the fight. The 3rd fleet is already there I want you to assist them.Send out random distress calls. No one in particular.Maybe some pirates or smugglers will come to our aid.The 1st and 2nd fleets will remain to defend our worlds."

Logan got up and took a shuttle to the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Archammer<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->.Once on board did he feel truly safe tthe huge ship was armed to the teeth and that is just how Logan liked it.He waited reports on the 4th fleets departure.

Then the Scimtar Assault bombers came alive on Kessel itself.
The 24 Squadrons flew up and joined the massing 3rd fleet.

"Yes Sir!!!" The Colonel saluted and spun on his heel, marching briskly out of the room and to the landing pad, typing out orders on his datapad as he did. By the time he boarded his Lambda shuttle, the "Blackk Night", the 4th Fleet was already forming up for the jump. Mere minutes later, Blackkon was aboard, and the 4th Fleet made way for Kessel.

As soon as he was aboard, he was briefing the crew of thier plan of action. Ever since he'd been assigned to the 4th Fleet he'd been testing and drilling his men, until he knew he could trust each and every one of them, and them complete faith in his orders. Unfortunately the majority of the ships were untested in battle, but the crew was good, they should perform well. Silently Arthorn sat in the command chair on the bridge and went back over the information he'd already commited to memory and listened to his commanders planning contingency actions. They were good men, and he hoped they all would make it home after this. The odds were long of that happening, but the 4th would do thier best for the New Alliance.

Finally the fleet exited hyperspace, dropping right into the rear of the TRE force, it's Skipray Blastboats immediately launching and the Battle Dragons slipping into a battle line in front of the Legacy-class Torpedo ships. The Blastboats swarmed around the NA ships, ready to attack with Blackkon's orders. The six Hapan Battle Dragons chose thier targets and prepared to fire. Last of all, the Torpedo ships began working on locks on the huge Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer that hung in space before then with it's engines facing the small NA fleet.

As the Skipray's formed up and his capital ships got locks on thier targets, Blackkon ordered a comm channel opened with the TRE forces. "Attention Rogue Imperial forces, this is Colonel Blackkon of the New Alliance Fourth Fleet. I hearby order you to immediately power down your weapons and leave Alliance space. Failure to comply will force me to fire upon your vessel. To the Imperial commander I ask you this. Think of the lives of your men when making your decision. There is no reason to sacrifice them needlessly. Do not make the mistake of following your orders blindly, enough men die that way as it is. So once again, this is Colonel Blackkon of the New Alliance Fourth Fleet, ordering all TRE forces to power down your weapons and leave Alliance space immediately. Blackkon out."

The 4th Fleet awaited the TRE response, ready to strike at the first sign of hostility...

Vice Admiral Yelkdon pondered for a long moment, his orderes were exceedingly important, he needed to remove the Alliance space superiority in Kessel if the Rogue Empire was to further in their campaign. Plans and strategies bombarded his head, as well as morals and worries, the Alliance had committed a strong force here...almost too strong for this backwater planet. <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> What is that idiot Admiral Logan up to?<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> he thought to himself as one hand was brought up to his chin to stroke it.

The TIE Bombers were well in firing range, and the heavy space bombs were already launched an inbound for the shipyard. It would only take a few moments to order them back an the Missile Boats out against the Interdictor, thanks to their lack of fighter support...and by the time most of this was happening, the super laser would be charged, as it was now. As was previously thought, the shipyard needed to be first.

"Ok we can't wait any longer," he finally said with an excited clap of his gloved hands. The blonde comms controller nodded and relayed the message to gunnery control. "Fire full force at that shipyard." After the order was given, he braced himself against one of the Star Destroyer's arcs between console rooms.

"Three..." the commsman began counting. "two....one!" The ship rocked backward from sheer force of the shot, the vice admiral immediately ran to see what was going on, and the green laser was already speeding toward the shipyard, and collided ferociously, tearing off a large section of it as the space bombs as well began hitting it.

"Excellent work!" Yelkdan reasoned, knowing the Alliance soldiers must have been soiling their pants now. Casualties must have been heavy on the deck of that shipyard.

The Missile Boats exitted their hangars that held them, four of them, which could decimate enemy fleets. They were five klicks (kilometers) out from the enemy fleets, which had them pinned down in a pincer attack. Lt. Marduun was leading the flight group, and he did not intend to fail this mission.

"Ok boys listen up, you all got briefed before we came out here now I add my commentary. The Alliance is trying to pincer us in, we need to take out those Lancer Torpedo ship things and get the hell back, the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Death's Hand<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> and Psi squadron will clean up after us. Our major issue is keeping anything with a gravity well suppressed, understood?" Nu 1, also known as Lt. Marduun, briefed.

"Aye sir."

"Roger that."

"No problem boss."

"Ok good...then stick in formation and let's get us some points. Three...two...one...SLAM!" It was the recognized call, and all the forces rammed their feet into the slam peddle, sending them a ferocious five hundred MGLT in a heavy taxation of their laser cannon...but it would recharge. Nu 1 looked around his cockpit, already there were laser blasts seering at him from the enemy, but they could not hit his extreme speeds, and finally stopped in the middle of the Fourth Fleet.

"Ok charge lasers, get ready to activate your beam weapons." He was referring to the old Imperial device conceived during the Airam Campaign, also known as the Balance of Power, when the Empire had come up with "Decoy beams" that literally threw the enemy's targetting off of you. Of course a fighter could try to blindly shoot you...but there's no proof you're even there. Furthermore, target lock could not be acquired on you, however, the enemy capital ships had little to no problem hitting you with laserse...that was an inevitable risk that occured even without the device. One more downside was that it came at the expense of a counter measure system.

Target lock was already acquired on one of the enemy blastboats, and therefore a flurry of seven advanced concussion missiles were out and racing toward him at speeds of 250 MGLT. He was confident it was a dead boat. Therefore Marduun's attention was now on torpedo ships, and as he flew over them a few laser shots had met his ship, but his beam weapon was on so they were not that accurate, and missile lock could not be acquired.

Bombs flew out of the bottom of his hatch, racing across the top and tearing through shields like a wampa through newly slain flesh. If they'd have contacted the Rogue Empire...negotiations may have occurred...maybe. But then again...how could they have? They were being jammed as so they could not contact the outside world.

Captain Neychev stood on the New Alliance <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Menace<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-class SD <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Freedoms Chance<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> and watched the battle.
He smiled faintly and issued one word.

"Attack"

The 3rd and 4th fleets formed up and all of the ships targeted the ESD.Hundreds of turbolasers slamed in to the side of the huge ship. One advantage was the 4th fleet was behind and under the ESD.Both of the 4th Fleet's <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Legacy<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-class Torpedo Attack Cruisers fired their 50 Proton Torpedo Tubes,100 torpedos in all, directy at the ESDs engines.

6 hapan battle dragons opened fire on the ESD along with the Torpedo ships. The battle dragons adding another 10 proton torps and 6 cunccusion missles a piece. (60 proton torps and 36 cunncussion missles.) There 40 ion canons apiece were eating at the shields and the engines. 240 Ion canons were leaving holes in the shields that the torps went through. Turbo laser firre from the battle dragons (40 canons each) was pouring throught the holes in the shields as well. The 144 Missle boats add their 3 ion canons a peice( 430) and a cuncusion missle and proton torp apiece(144 pro 144 cunncusion) and 288 laser canons all but decimateing the larger crafts engines leaving it dead in the water.

OOC(300 proton torps, 180 cuncusion, 670 ion canons and 240 laser canons from battle dragons and another 288 from the Gungoats(blastboat what ever) ESD Dead in water.

The bombers and Interceptors were returning home now, there were still no fighters on their tails...yet. Bomber group Beta was now out of bombs and badly needed to reload, they were useless without their bombs here.

"Interceptor group Gamma, watch our asses, those enemies are, ARG!" the TIE bomber never got to finish his sentence...one of the enemy turbo lasers smeered against his large, slow craft, incinerating it and the pilot inside. Two spinning solar panels were all that were left.

"We lost 1 we lost 1!" one of the TIE Interceptors screamed, only moments before his own demise to the enemy war ships. Three more TIE Bombers were launched...they too were inbound for the shipyard.

"Sir, super laser charging!" the blonde haired comms boy explained, and Yelkdan nodded his response, it would soon fire again on the enemy shipyard, and it would be gone. However his chain of thought was cut off by the high pitched ringing of alarms.

"Torpedo launch...detected. Torpedo launch...detected."

"I want a verification on the missile range and attack vector of them!" Yelkaden demanded, a droplet of sweat forming. Torpedos launched could cause serious damage to the ship if they hit in the right places.

"They are inbound on stern 1, 2 and 3, they are at 3 kilometers...launched from four...sir they're dumby missiles."

For the sake of military bearing the admiral did not burst into laughter, but most of the bridge could not do the same and several giggles, and even some full blown deep throated laughter, emitted throughout the bridges halls. Yelkaden let a slight chuckle escape his curly mustache, but quickly regained his proper bearing. They'd wasted all their torpedos on a ship that was well out of missile range...seconds later, the exploded nearly two kilometers off from the Star Destroyer. Turbo lasers also shot left and right in a flurry of what would be a deadly attack....if they were within range.

"Ok then, the missile boats need to finish their jobs and come home."

The missile boats were stuck in heavy combat and were having serious issues. Nu 1 was fleeing for his life from two of the skipray blast boats, who were closing tightly in on him. He'd already dodged two missiles, and his beam weapon was being sucked dry, it was cutting into his auxilary control.

Laser blasts shot on either side of his craft and he twirled left and right, barely dodging each one. "Hey I'm having trouble over here! C'mon, someone get 'em off!"

"I'm coming boss," responded Nu 4, who had just defeated his own Skipray blast boat. The first one was easily welcomed to his targetting box, and green lasers shot forth from his single cannon, ripping the rear shields from the skipray blastboat, and just before the hull was as well decimated, the pilot pulled up...only to see Nu 2 raining down on him with his own laser shots...but the pilot ejected to safety. The second skipray pulled off to avoid the trio. Unfortunately, they were no longer a four man group, as Nu 3 had been destroyed by some good stray laser shots.

Captain Neychev thought the battle was going well.Sure they had sustained losses but that was to be expected. The ESD was targeting the Shipyards, what idiots were running that ship? The loss of the shipyards wouldn't be relevant because it was a minor production facility. The New Alliance could simply rebuild it.The enemy ESD was taking the full brunt of the combined 4th/3rd fleet's strike. The 3rd's <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Menace<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->-class SD was bring it's 70 Ion Cannons and 70 Turbolasers to bear on the huge ship now. It's 25 Torpedo tubes and 25 Concussion missle launchers were quickly annihilating the enemy's engines.Neychev watched the cloaked Dinefet Cruiser on the speacial radar. It skimmed the ESDs huge hulk and fired all it's weapons at the bridge. After heavy pounding and a few more passes by the Dinefet, the sheilds around te bridge gave out. Then 72 Skipray blastboats were called in.The precision strike was devestating.First, concussion missle slammed into the hull, weakening it.Then the lasers and the proton torpedoes followed, they slammed through the weakened hull and obliterated the bridge. The turbolasers on the ESD retaliated in revenge, annihilating 20 of the Skiprays.

On His command ship Neychev smiled.

OOC: Chadd you can move all bridge operations to a secondary command center.
  • Posted On: Jan 26 2002 12:49am
OOC: I'll be posting for 4th fleet, specifically regarding more detail in our actions to avoid confusion. Ohh, and Chadd, some of us aren't dumb enough to fire when we're out of range, especially when we are well within range, not that far from your rear.

IC: Colonel Arthorn Blackkon was a man who held an unnatural calm in stressful situations, like the current one. Here he was, commanding only a partially built Fleet directly behind an enemy ESD of all things, yet not a sign of stress showed on his stony features. The man knew his duty, had faced death before, and would not blink if that's what the cost would be. He stood there, awaiting a reply when he saw the massive ship fire upon the Kessel shipyard. Before the beam even connected, the Colonel was giving orders. "All ships FIRE!!!" Immediately the entire 4th Fleet unloaded a weapons salvo, a full three hundred and four torpedos were inbound on the Star Destroyer's stern, well within range. Likewise, the Hapan Battle Dragon's turbolasers and ion cannons lanced out agaisnt the monsterous ships shields, a total of 240 turbolasers and 312 Ion cannons.

Mere seconds later, TRE Gunboats were inside the fleet, and the defense weapons opened up, the skilled gunners not bothering to look for a weapons lock after quickly realizing that thier enemy was using jammers. The same went for the Skiprays pilots, fighting hard to keep the Gunboats from hitting the capital ships. They did thier best, but it was inevitable one would get off a shot at the Torpedo ships.

Blackkon saw it coming though, as what appeared to be the Gunboat leader broke away from his Blastboat pursuit and came barreling in on the Legacy-class ship. "All shields topside now" Arthorn bellowed, his men responding immediatly as he had drilled them. As the bombs from the TRE attacker came in, they hit the reinforced shields hard, and the ship was rocked as one did connect. "Even the shields," the Colonel ordered, assisting a crewman with a gash on his forehead to his feet, "All auxilary power to the shields. I want them fully charged immediately. Now, status and damage reports."

Arthorn sat again, remaining as impassive as ever, his mind racing and plotting, trying to react to anything that would come thier way. Seeing extra-vehicular pilots on his command chairs displays, he ordered that the tractor beams be used to bring those pilots in immediately as he surveyed the battle at hand. Keeping track of time in combat was always difficult. Here he knew it had only been seconds that had passed, as the first salvo of torpedos from 4th Fleet was just now bearing in on the ESDs rear shields, which were damaged to some degree by the waves of turbo and ion fire they were taking. One thing Blackkon was thankful for was the Third Fleet keeping the Eclipse honest, not allowing them to reinforce the shields as he had just done against the Assault Gunboat. This was going to be interesting.

Suddenly the sensors showed the loss of bridge and rear shields on the Eclipse. The 4th Fleets torpedo's, the ones that hadn't gotten shot down, had just hit. On top of that, the 3rds Dinefet uncloaked and blasted the massive ship. Seeing this, Blackkon's priorities changed for the battle. The 3rd was handling the ESD very well, but TRE's support vessels were preparing to wreak havok. "All ships, target ESD support vessels and open fire," the Colonel ordered, and his ship responded. The shields of the Legacy he was aboard were already strengthening again. In perfect formation, the 4th fleet shifted to target thier secondary targets, and began to open fire.
