Goveneur Heran felt that something more was needed. The Imperials kept on trying to make the citizerns revolt. He then had an idea.

"Broadcast what I have to say across the planet."

"Yes sir."

"Sir, we have a communications blackout."

"Is the emergancy radio system still working?"

"Yes sir."

"Use that."

The radio service used satallities to broadcast across the planet. All buildings were given receivers. It was an emergancy system designed to be sued incase of jamming. It was slow compared to hypercoms, and was not effective over long distances, but to transmit around the planet, it worked fine.

He walked out onto a balcony.

"Citizens of Abregado-rae, I am Goveneur Heran, your elected leader of the planet. Elected. I stress this word. The Empire is not a democracy, they will not allow you to elect anyone. They will place their on Goveneur in charge of Abregado-rae, one that may have been a criminal in the past. I draw your attention to Corellia, and it's Goveneur. Luprecus Darksword, I man who has attacked the innocent civilians on Garos IV, and who has caused devestation on numerous worlds was palced as their leader. He is a Sith, a member of a religious caste that has caused evil in the past.

Also, look at what the Imperials have done. Yes, we have caused the deaths of numerous Kamino civilians, who didn't want us there, but that was a mistake, and the commander is being held on trial, along with numerous other military people who were invovled in those terrible, unfortunate murders. We, the Galactic Coalition have apologised to the family numerous times, and have done all that was possible to help them. The Imperials attacked Caamas, made it inhabitable of life. They destroyed Alderaan. They built weapons that can destroy planets in a single shot. They designed the Galaxy Gun, and fired it at a planet, destroying, not even giving the people a chance to evacutate. They citizens managed to evacutate solwly because they knew their planet had been found. The Imperials released World Devestators on Mon Calamari, chewing up the surface, and destroying whole cities, with citizens still inside. They enslaved hundreds of thousands of people. They treat humans with respect, but hate everyone else. We treat everyone equally They murdered peaceful protesters. Has the Galactic Coalition gone in and dropped bombs on your heads? No. Have we destroyed your villages because you are protesting? No. Have we done anything wrong to you, the citizens? No. Do we forced your sons and or daughters to serve in our military? No. Have we forces anyone to serve in our military? No. The Galactic Coaliton forces no one to serve in the military. If you join the Imperials you will be forced to serve in the military. Also, if you wish to become neutral again after joining the Empire, would they let you? No. They would force you to stay as one of their members. We on the other hand will let you leave. We will hold a vote, right now. All the citizens of Abregado-rae, go to your municipal office, and vote. You can join the Empire, stay in the Galactic Coalition, or become neutral and then join someone else."

The crowd began to disperse, and went to their local municipal offices, where they would vote.

"Broadcast over the same system up to our fleet. I want to them to offer a cease fire to the Imperials. Tell them about the current problems."

"Yes sir."

Meanwhile, up in space.

The fighters were surprised by the newcomers.

"All vessels, follow us. Prepare for Operation Emergancy. Reload missile tu-" He was cut off by static.

"Crap, they are jamming us. Oh well, everyone knows to prepare for Operation Emergency."

"Sir, we are recieving a transmittion from the planet, on the radio waves frequency that we had to instal just before coming here."

"I remeber. It and the message pods made it impossible for us to carry fighters."

"Right. Apparently they want us to offer a ceasefire, while we wait for the results of the citizens vote on who they will accept for their government, or if they will become neutral."

"Ok. Send a message pod to the ISD."

"Yes sir."

A message pod was sent to the ISD bearing a simple message.

To:
Imperial Commander

From:
Galactic Coalition Commander.

I offer a cease fire. Once you stop firing, we will do likewise. The citizens have agreed to hold a vote, to see if they will choose to become a member of the New Order, or if they wil stay a member of the Galactic Coalition, or if they will simply stay neutral. On the results of the vote, whoever is not wanted, or if both parties are not wanted, then they will leave the system. Please send your reply the same way.

End message.

The missile tubes were reloaded, and the fleet continued to engage the enemy, but waited for a reply. The fighters stayed back, out of range, preparing to target the enemy ships. The Galactic Coalition fleet prepared to move forwards, while preparing to retreat backwards if the enemy agreed to the cease fire.

"Captain, sir. The enemy fleet is withdrawing." Captain Raine nodded, smiling thinly. Indeed, the enemy fighters were moving out of range and reforming themselves outside the fleet's zone of fire.

The defence would only be temporary, though. The fleet was still coming forward, the Fire Class Frigates in front, along with the TIE Defenders.

The Coalition had already lost more than half their starfighter force; and their capital ships were taking heavy ion fire. There was little doubt of what the battle's outcome would be.

"Captain! We're intercepting a transmission from the enemy's ground command centre."

"Citizens of Abregado-rae, I am Goveneur Heran, your elected leader of the planet. Elected.

"Elected by the rules that you set." One of the officers muttered, and Raine could not help but smile. It was true, of course, that the Coalition inserted only their own candidates in the elections - whoever was elected, the Coalition won. Hardly 'democracy'.

I stress this word. The Empire is not a democracy, they will not allow you to elect anyone. They will place their own Govenor in charge of Abregado-rae, one that may have been a criminal in the past.

"Obviously, they haven't bothered to look at any worlds the Empire controls." Raine said outloud. All of the worlds under the banner of the New Order had been encouraged to elect their own government on three levels: municipal, federal, and planetary. The Governor put in place by the Empire served only as a representitive of the New Order on these worlds.

I draw your attention to Corellia, and it's Govenor. Luprecus Darksword, I man who has attacked the innocent civilians on Garos IV, and who has caused devestation on numerous worlds was palced as their leader. He is a Sith, a member of a religious caste that has caused evil in the past.

"Did anyone else read that shit by John Snid?" One of the crewers asked. "This is old news, and old bullshit." Indeed, there was no evidence that Lupercus Darksword was connected in any way with an attack on Garos IV ("Where the hell is Garos IV?"). And any claims that he was a criminal were assinine, at best. Just because the Coalition considers it their right to slap titles on Imperial officers, doesn't make them right.

"Brilliant! The slaughter of thousands, a mistake! If you're going to kill your own people, at least have the balls to admit that you did it on purpose!" Raine smirked. Normally, such displays were not allowed on ships of the fleet. But the crewers were venting their angers at the Coalition, and he was allowing it. It was, he mused, rather funny, really.

"Unsubstantiated claims." Raine said to no one in particular. "They offer no proof, only the proof in their minds."

They enslaved hundreds of thousands of people. They treat humans with respect, but hate everyone else. We treat everyone equally They murdered peaceful protesters.

"Yes, you do. You kill everyone equally, too. Except the Mon Cals. And the Azguards. You don't kill your own kind... just the Kaminoians. Very nice of you to extend them that curtousy."

"So their warships are crewed by no one? Should be no effort to defeat them, then. Every military-dictatorship requires some level of consription. It's default!"

If you join the Imperials you will be forced to serve in the military. Also, if you wish to become neutral again after joining the Empire, would they let you? No. They would force you to stay as one of their members.

"Lies! Show the people the truth! They're smarter than this. They know how the Empire works. Everyone knows how the Empire works."

"We on the other hand will let you leave. We will hold a vote, right now. All the citizens of Abregado-rae, go to your municipal office, and vote. You can join the Empire, stay in the Galactic Coalition, or become neutral and then join someone else."

"Is he aware," Raine said softly, "how much time an energy is devoted to a referendum?"
"Probably not." The XO said. "But then, he might just be trying to scatter the people."

Raine shrugged.
"Whatever. Is that the end of it?" The communications officer nodded.
"Very well, then. The agents on the ground will make sure that the people know the truth. I daresay they are far better speakers than this Governor they've hit us with."
"Probably better naval officers, too."
"Captain! We've got another transmission."
"The crowds?"
"Negative, sir. It's directed at... at us, sir."

Raine nodded. It was not unusual for the enemy to attempt to talk in their final moments.

"Put it through."

The message, it turned out, was text only.

Raine read the message twice, then nodded. A cold smile formed on his mouth, and he looked out at the enemy fleet.
"Continue firing, all batteries."
"Sir. What about-"
"The cease-fire? There can be no vote in the next fifteen minutes. And if we stall to long, the crowds may be convinced, despite the idiocy the Coalition puts forth."
"Yes, Captain."
"Broadcast to the enemy that we will accept their unconditional surrender for the next fifteen standard minutes."

OOC:The fighters that you destroyed in your last post are not legal. I specifically RPed the fighters NOT being in range of you or your fighters. MC-10s can easily outrun any of your ships.

IC:
The fighters had been forced to out manuver their opponents. Some TIE Defenders had moved in to assault them, and the MC-10s had run away from them. They had followed and the MC-10s came around in a long loop, always out of range of the enemy guns. They were finally back in range of the enemy Star Destroyers. All the fighters and the Birds of Prey all targeted the Imperial Star Destroyer, bringing down it's shields. The 4 Birds of Prey fired on the Belarus Cruisers. They came neared and nearer to the Imperial Star Destroyer as they did so.

"Operation Emergancy will be done in five minutes. All crew, do what you feel best."

Crewers ran to escape pods, but the brave gunners stayed at theyr positions, as did the majority of the bridge personnel. They all knew what Operation Emergancy was, but they weren't afraid to die.

"No word?" Raine asked, watching the enemy fighters as they begun a long loop to reengage his fleet.

"Negative, Captain." One of the officeres replied, scanning the com board. It was clear, as it should have been during a communications blackout.

"Shame. Continue to press our attack, then." There was no need to acknowledge. The TIE Defenders - half of number that were present at the battle - were presently pursuing the broken enemy fighter force, which was loosing numbers rapidly. The rest had formed up and were now running towards the enemy, the two forces creating a hammer and anvil from which the enemy craft would never escape.

Already transports had launched from the SATAPs and engaged against the disabled enemy ships, and under the guard of several TIE Defenders were moving quickly to capture those vessels.

The Star Avengers had cleared a good portion of the minefield by now, leaving a large depression in the side of it. It would not be long before the planet could be liberated.

"Enemy starfighters in range, Captain."

That was, what was left of them. The defending wave of TIEs had hit them from the front at the same moment the other wave caught up, destroying dozens of the enemy ships in a few short minutes.

Those that were left fired their missiles towards the Imperial fleet blindly, and only a handful collided with the Razor's reinforced shields. They weakened them nearly to the point of collapse, but it scarecely mattered now.

The battle was won, the only remaining enemy ships some damaged fighters and four Bird-of-Prey cruisers that were showing obvious signs of hull breaches.

Those ships were now engaging the larger Belarus cruisers, and taking a pounding in return. They would not survive for much longer, that much was for certain.

"Sir! Enemy ships launching escape pods!" Raine smiled thinly. The enemy craft were dying, the launch of pods was evidence enough of that.

"Give them one more chance to surrender." He ordered calmly. "But continue firing. Only stop if they accept."

"Yes, Captain."

(OOC: Interjecting here.

Jan, we have clarified in an OOC thread that MC10s are all around a WHOLE lot crapper than the TIE Defender. And anyways, i'm sure the destruction of your craft also would stem from the fact you ran through a gauntlet of anti-starfighter craft to hit his ships, then fled, right back through it again.

I normally wouldn't have posted like this, but i figured having a staff member tell you might actually drive the point home.

OOC:Read my post at the bottom of the thread.

IC:
The Birds of Prey were being moderately damaged. They stopped firing on the Belarus Cruisers, and then accelerated towards the Imperial Star Destroyer, which was very, very close, and fired constantly on it.

"Reload all missile tubes."

The Birds of Prey fired on the very weak shields of the Star Destroyer, and brought them down. Then their fire was concentrated on the command tower, at the base of it.

"Sir, the command tower has been destroyed. We are concentrating fire where the base of it used to be. Their defenses there have been wiped out, we are now blowing through bulkeads, angling down towards the reactor and the engines."

"Excellent. Move our position so that we are quite close to the enemy Star Destroyers. Unless they destroy us with missiles from below, whne we are destroyed, we will fall on them, towards the planet. Why aren't the mines working?"

"I don't know sir."

The mines finally became active, and started to pour ion cannon fire into the first SATAP.

The fighters finally turned around destroyed a half a squadron fo TIE Defenders before being wiped out.

On the remaining Birds of Prey that were disabled, crews were busy trying to make sure that noone would ever beable to capture the Birds of Prey. Class A thermal Detenators were placed all around the computer core, around the reactor and aroudn the engines. Then they were placed all over the inside of the hull. The Birds of Prey had been ignored for a while, and the crews managed to get the engines and reacotrs online, so that they would be giving off extra power.

"Three, two, one, long live the Galactic Coalition."

The ships exploded, stoping the enemy from ever capturing any data on them.

On the planet, the vote wasn't complete, but it appeared that the citizens would wante to stay neutral. The troops prepared to lay down their weapons. They planted Class A thermal detenators around the computer cores that held Galactic Coalition information, and around the shield generator, but did not activate them.

(Ignoring illegal tactics, as per usual)

The first Bird-of-Prey exploded, fuel canisters and energy batteries ignited as they were struck by the fire put forth by the Cruiser Whiplash. Escape pods in the immediate area were swept away as the fire consumed them, leaving the battered but still standing Belarus cruiser to collect itself and move on.

The other small ships were faring no better, the larger vessels taking the unshields Birds apart. The commander of the enemy fleet (if it could be called a fleet) had been foolish, and now he was paying the price.

"No response?" Raine asked, frowning as another of the Birds-of-Prey began to issue fire and steam from its interior. The running lights grew dark, followed by the vessel's guns.

"None, Captain." He nodded. The Coalition was not interested in saving lives here, that much was obvious. They would sooner die.

That was fine with him.

Another of the Birds was crippled, turbolaser fire wracking its hull and breaching it, the last of the crew being expelled through the holes. It was a fine day of the Galactic Empire.

The Tactical Assault Platforms were faring as well, if not better, even than the rest of the fleet. Their design had called for a multi-tasking warship, and the SATAP delivered beautifully. The Phalanx Anti-missile network proved its worth against the enemy mines, and the vessel's advanced Ion shielding and stealth gear protected it from the little enemy fire that was returned.

With the mines spread across the hundreds of thousands of sqaure kilomtres that was a planetary orbit, the SATAPs were having an easy job of clearing them.

"Captain! Explosion registered!" One of the Razro's Edge bridge crew called. "One of the dead Birds!" Raine swore and looked at the sensor screen. Indeed, one of the four Birds-of-Prey that he been disabled by ion fire was gone, replaced by a rapidly expanding ball of fire and debris. Amongst that, a shattered transport was barely noticable. But it was there.

Even as Raine watched, another of the vessels blew apart. But the other two remained quiet. The Stromtroopers, evidently, had eliminated the threats on those ships.

The two live vessels were moving now, attempting to get out of the paths of fire of the Belarus Cruisers. With the damage they had sustained, though, and the fire pouring into them from the larger, shielded warships, it was proving difficult.

One of them had alligned itself with the Razor's Edge, and managed to get off a volley directed at the bridge. Even as Raine and his bridge crew watched, the enemy warheads were sent out against their ship. Half of them exploded against the twisted and melted hull of their host ship, never even escaping the launch tubes. The others, only two or three, smashed headlong into the weakened Star Destroyer's shields and detonated uselessly at the base of the command tower.

Evidently, the enemy commander had failed to take into account the reinforced hull of an Imperator Class Star Destroyer.

With the enemy vessel exposed in full to the main cannons of the Star Destroyer, it was quickly blown apart. The heavy weapons that covered the awesome wedge of the vessel targetted it nearly at once, and millions of joules of energy were poured into the hull.

The ship exploded, rather brilliantly, leaving the sensor boards clean of enemy craft.

"That's the last of them, Captain. All enemy forces have been destroyed."

Raine nodded approvingly.

"Launch troop shuttles, but keep them back from the minefield. Deploy the Frigates and our fighters to support the Assault Platforms in their clearing of the mines."

"Abregado-rae is ours, gentelmen."

"Captain, sir. Colonel Sage reports." Raine nodded at the officer and, turning from the viewports, smiled thinly. Colonel Sage was in charge of all land-oriented actions following the removal of the Coalition fleet.

With that goal attained, Captain Raine and his resources fell under the command of the Colonel.

"On screen." The Captain ordered. In the area of the bridge reserved for communications, an image came to life. Sage was a middle-aged man with a thin grey mustache, and he was obviously used to being listened to.

"Captain Raine," he said in greeting, "I commend you on the speed with which you drove off the aliens. It is further proof, I think, that the Empire is meant to be here."

"My thanks, Colonel. My forces, of course, are now at your disposal." This pleased the man greatly, and he nodded in a very proper, military way.

"Very good, Captain. Very good. May I ask, what is the status of the enemy's minefield?"

"All but eliminated. We have more than enough space to land your troops -- once their shields are brought down, of course."

"Of course. I wonder... I am told there is much action on the ground. Could perhaps we utilize these people to do some of our work for us?"

"I have reason to believe, Colonel, that they are already doing so. But we are moving into position presently to commence a bomardment. You shall be on the ground within the hour."

Indeed, the mighty Star Destroyer had brought itself to a stop deep in the gash the Assault Platforms had made in the minefield. The shield was faintly visible beneath her keel, a sort of pink glow that tinted the clouds.

"I look forward to it, Captain." Sage offered a smart salute. "My men are ready, as always." The hologram vanished, and Raine turned to his sensor operator.

"The SATAPs are in position?" He asked.

"Yes, Captain."

"Very good. Commence shield bomardment, maximum yield."

Among the technoligies carried aboard the Empire's Star Avenger platforms, the most useful today would be their DERs -- dedicated energy receptors. The devices were capable of detecting weak spots in enemy shields, giving the Imperial ships the capability to focus their firepower therer.

The targetting data was relayed to the Razor's Edge, which immediatly began to pound away at the energy shields below. The enemy defences were strong, but the ship's mighty cannons were more than capable of forming a breach.

And a small breach was all that the drop ships needed.

Using the targetting data provided by the SATAPs, and the added firepower of the Black Fleet, they would quickly dismantle the enemy's defensive grid.

The gates were down. Drev and Tek had worked their magic, the Imperial agents creating such a frenzy among the rioters that they were fully willing to kill the Coalition officials who tried in vain to stop them.

Even a speech from the planet's governor was ignored as the military base was overrun.

Drev and Tek made their way through the crowd, which was quickly making a masscare of the soldiers who attempted to get in their way, and into the deeper regions of the place.

It was quieter here, the mobs out front taking all of the GC's attention. No one noticed the two agents, who (once getting away from the crowds) removed their cloaks and revealed the Coalition uniforms they wore beneath them.

No one doubted their roles.

They arrived in the centre of the base, where the region's massive shield generator was located. The device was one of many situated over the planet, but it was vital in the protection of the capital.

And here it was, lying open for the taking.

"Would you look at that." Drev said, almost smiling. Placed neatly around the massive generator were dozens of thermal detonators, all primed and evidently rigged to go off by remote control.

With Tek standing guard, he quickly set about removing the remote detonators and setting the devices on a five minute fuse.

Then the two of them worked back into their cloaks, and joined the crowds once more. The Coalition was being quickly overwhelmed, their military base nearly overrun by the teaming masses.

Five minutes later, the thermal detonators exploded, rather violently. And the threat of the warships in orbit became a striking reality.

"Captain!" The sensor officer called out. "We have catastrophic shield failure in Secotr One-G!" Indeed, Raine saw, they did.

The planetary shield, which was taking heavy fire near its equator from the Imperial fleet, had collasped. But not, as he would have assumed, where their fire had been directed.

"That's the capital city!" He said in astonishment. Then it struck him. The crowds -- the Imperial agents hidden amongst them.

"Redirect fire to Sector One-D and One-E!" He ordered. The flanking fire from his ships would bring down more of the already-weakened shields. Without the overlap provided by the capital generator, those sections would take the brunt of the attack. "Inform Colonel Sage that he may begin landing his troops."

IC:

The guards watched as the crowd of rioters approached the gates of the garrison.

"Sir, we have a mob approachign the garrison."

"Ask them what their intentions are, and give them a warning that if they don't go somewhere else then they could face a fine, since this is a war time and we expect that Imperials will be coming."

"Yes sir."

"Abregado-rae Citizens, what are your intentions here?"

"To free our people from you."

"You are free, but if you want us to leave, you can go home and vote. If the outcome of the vote is in favour of GC leaving, we will leave. Also, we request that you leave the area, because we expect Imperial troops to be coming soon."

"NO."

The crowd ran forward, and started to attack the gates with whatever they could, though that was just rocks and a few sporting blasters.

"Can they really do any damage to us?"

"Eventually."

"Fine. Give them one more warning, then stun them all, and take them away in our airspeeders. Take them to a hospital."

"Yes sir."

The airspeeders prepared to take on stunned civilians.

"This is your last warning. If you continue your acts of agggression, we will be forced to stun you and then take you to a hopsital."

"We will never leave."

"So be it."

With their blaster set on stun, the troops stunned the crowd. Then they loaded them all up in airspeeders, and flew them to a hospital, where they would be treated, and then released.

Up in space the Imperials launched their troops and equipment out into space int he transports. The transports came down and impacted on the shields. The entire grond attack force and their air support crashed into the shields, and were destroyed. The Empire had just needlessly wasted a decent amount of equipment and personel.
