Stranger Rif appears to be keeping the lead through the dust lake, and both Kresher and Vondiranach are hot on his tail! The dust doesn’t seem to be bothering either Kresher or Vondiranach, but it sure is blinding the other racers.

From my vantage point here I can see that both Tork and Hubbekeket have dropped to last place. They’re playing it safe – as I recall Tork had a crash in the dust lake last year when he tried to take advantage of the cloud of blinding dust.

OH MY! Both Endocott and Selbuba have one thing in mind! They’re both trying to take the lead! Sndocott made his move before Selbuba, the ever competitive Selbuba isn’t going to let himself stay in fifth place.

Endocott has just caught up with Kresher and Vondiranach, and Selbuba is right next to him.

It’s a fight for second place! Someone had better slow down, or they’ll all go off at the hairpin!

Rif leaned forwards as the hairpin loomed ahead.

If he could slow, turn, and speed up with the accuracy befitting one of his kind, he might be able to hold the lead.

But as he had a few seconds before he had to break, Rif quicky grabbed a spare parts box from under his seat. With careful aim, he popped the lid and let fly at whoever it was behind him. Not that it would do much, just a nuisance for his opponants.

Turning back to the race, he time slammed the breaks, creating a screech of reverse engines.

[i]He saw the curve coming up, on the systems display panel it showed how hard a turn it was, and the steep drop behind that. He brought his axil engine mounts back to their start positions. If he timed it right he could twist his engines full vertical and bend his pod along the wall, retaining most of his foreward thrust and even giving him the chance of shooting over Rif.

Blast. Spare parts headed straight at him and Kresher, Kamon didn't know who it was intended for.

Kamon pulled out his blaster and took aim at Rif's brakes. If he hit it at just the right time, hed hit the wall. Kamon fired.

The Storm was designed to go through turns at fast speeds. It was very maneuverable, and very fast. Kamon gunned it into the turn in an attempt to pass the other racers.

Endocott and Sebulba were at eachother's sides. With Vondiranach and Kresher around on the sides. The hairpin was coming closer and closer. Right before the turn, he let off the accelerator for a second and attempted to pull behind Kresher. His endurance would pay off in the end, there was no need to rush for first at the moment. Just to last until the end.

Dirty! Dirty! It looks like both Rif and Vondiranach are playing to win, not to have fun today! That metal projectile just barely missed Kresher’s head; in fact, it might have nicked him. Vondiranach managed to avoid it, but his retaliation is simply awful!

Ok, ok, I know, nothing is illegal.

Everyone seems to have made it out of the hairpin all right, as both Endocott and Tork slowed down, putting safety over speed. Rif just barely made it, I believe he just scrapped the edge. The move Kresher used will no doubt become a new standard; I can’t believe how fast he made it around that Hairpin. He’s parallel with Rif now, this could get exciting!

It’s now Kresher and Rif tied for the lead, Selbuba and Vondiranach fighting for second, Endocott, Tork and Grnk are in third, with Hubbekeket close in the rear.

All three are speeding break neck through the last small stretch of the dust lake. Caution is thrown to the wind! They all better slow down and get their maneuverability ratings up, because the Mawler Tunnel will test them to be sure.

Rif saw the tunnels up ahead, and had an Idea. It was a dirty trick indeed, but if successful, would remove Kresher. He pulled the engine to full throttal, doubtlessly the other pilot was slowling down. Then as the tunnel loomed ahead, he pulled the emergancy break and yanked hard into Krenshers' path.

That would either cause him to collide, or, MUCH more likely, the pilot would see the slowing opponant, try and swerve out of the way and-

SPLAT

into the wall.

That'd get rid of Krensher and leave him to take the lead, winding down the tunnels at his liesure.

[i]He could feel it, this could be his best chance to take the lead for good. He brought his engines intake to full, ready to push ahead of Rif, if he could get exactly ahead of him he could dump his debries package and kill his engines. Then he would be free to pass through Mawler unabated.

The trick was to run his duruable pod like a speeder...

Kamon noticed he was now flanked by Sebulba. Easy picking for a Jedi.

He noticed the upcoming tunnel or whatever it was, and knew the Force would guide his actions. He gunned it. His intentions on making his way past the others in this area.

Tis been three days.

This is UNBELIEVABLE! Three racers are all attempting to make it through the Mawler AT TOP SPEED! I daresay we may have a crash here, unfortunately we will be unable to see it happen.

Our in-tunnel cameras were knocked out with the last race, we’ll only know what happens when the contestants come out.

And there go the top three, all into the tunnel within a split second of each other. And here’s Tork and Grnk, both fighting for fourth place. Endocott has gone the conservative way; he’s slowed down, going to simply make it through the tunnel in one piece.

OH MY! Grnk has just gone up in a fireball on the tunnel entranced. Everyone has just passed him by, he’s not going to make it this time.

While we wait for the rest to emerge from the tunnel, let’s take a look at an instant replay.

Ah yes, Grnk’s main coolant hose was loosend in his fight with Tork, and it came off. His hot engines couldn’t take it, and it looks like it died. OH, that’s gotta hurt. His right engine stopped, his left engine continued to run. That whip lashed his driver’s seat right into the side of the tunnel entrance.

I’m afraid we will not be seeing the loveable Grnk here again.

But, that’s the life of a pod racer! And here come the other contestants, out of the tunnel. AND IT”S VONDIRANACH IN FIRST PLACE! HOW DID HE PULL THAT OFF!?!? There’s Rif and Kresher, going at it like mynocks for second. Selbuba comes out HIGH! Holy Hutt Tail, he’s fairly flying!

LOOK AT THAT FIREBALL. Someone else has bit the hot Tantooine dust. There’s Hubbekeket, he made it, and then Endocott. Looks like both Tork and Grnk have not made it through this race.

Everyone has some quick maneuvering to do now, if they plan on staying alive. The Spires of Death are thick, making the plotting of a true course impossible. Everyone usually simply makes their own!

Posting order: Kamon, Rif, Kresher, Endocott
