Markus took a moment to relax  and catch his breath. Inferno marines had transmitted a video ship wide which indicated they had taken the bridge. A few moments later the blast doors and turbo lifts were locked down. There was little more for Markus and his teams to do now than clear the areas they had access to and see to the prisoners. It was then he heard the news, Remington had been lost.  knot locked up his insides at the horror of what he had heard. His minor victory aboard the imperial ship seemed pointless now. His whole purpose was to help the Remington by taking out the destroyer. He had overheard life pods had been fired and the ship had successfully evacuated a large portion of the crew. His marines would have been on the flight deck awaiting  the order to launch for Draenell's Point. He only hoped they had managed to evac the ship before it was lost.

"Colonel, we have a transmission from Major Bour."

Markus walked over to the makeshift comm station his marines had set up and waited for the channel to clear.

"Major, What is the situation out there?"

A crackle fluttered and the voice of Major Bour faintly came in over the channel.

"Colonel sir, Remington is lost, My squadron is mostly in tact but we are still engaged in clean up operations out here. The Imperials are bugging out but many of their non-hyperdrive equipped fighters are putting up one hell of a rear guard fight."

"What about survivors from Remington major?"

"Sir We are not sure as of this time how many made it off. Most have crashed landed on Outpost, some are making their way to the Inferno fleets vessels. I did see a lot of your marine transports get out before Remington Blew."

Markus sighed  noticeable and closed his eyes. He hopes his men did what they could to aid the evacuation but truth be known he hoped his men made it off. He finished up his conversion with the major and closed the channel. It seemed his battle was over for now. He would set his mind to what needed to be done next, taking Draenell's Point. With the imperial fleet defeated he knew the planet would fallow suit. The world had a large hold out of freedom fighters already active. The imperial government would fold now that it had lost its support  from the fleet and was cut off from the supply lines. The world of Draenell's point was a done deal him Markus' mind. Or it would be once he could get off this ship.

The fallowing ours went quickly as the Imperial fleet of Fossk had cleared out and most of the imperial garrison on Draenell's Point had left with it. Thousands had died aboard Remington but thousands survived thanks to the quick actions of Captain Dern. Half of Markus' Regiment had survived and with the assistance of Inferno fleet Draenell's Point was taken without a single shot fired by the Alliance. Many of the planetary Defense Force commanders had ordered their forces to attack the Imperial Garrison  after Inferno fleet jumped in and it was apparent the Alliance was there to help. Markus had heard the Imperial Governor had been beheaded by militant citizens in the short battle between the worlds population and the Imperial forces suppressing them.  The battle was won but in Markus mind he had lost. He had been defeated in the mission he had assigned himself. His plan to help Remington did not work. over nine thousand living souls had been extinguished in the span of a flash of light. He did not want to think about it any longer. He knew it was not his fault and he did everything he could have to save the ship and its crew. But nothing but time and a lot of alcohol would ease the knot his his gut for now. He stood on the streets of Draenell's Point looking up at the stars in the night sky. Countless thousands of small points of light he imagined were the souls of the men and women lost. A group of marines walked by and saluted  then kept walking down the street towards the pleasure district. Markus turned and yelled out.

"Wait a minute marines. Drinks are on me."
