A Question of Information - Xa Fel(TNA/TNSO/by invite only)

Captain Balkadar, of the New Alliance Dinefet cruiser Formidable, knew the situation was grim. Here he was, deep within Naboo Sith Order space, on a scouting and Intelligence mission. Thier only support was a squadron of Cloakshape fighters, specially modified to hold cloaking devices. The Dinefet and Cloakshapes had exited hyperspace far outside the Xa Fel system, and had spent the last several hours moving into the system under the protection of thier cloaking systems. Once in system Balkadar ordered sensor scans of the planet and everything in system, defense forces, shipyards, planetary emplacements, everything. Balkadar didn't know what the full extent of this mission was, but he had an idea that there was far more too it than he was privy to. There always was with covert ops. The sensor officer ran the scans three times in case of any irregularities, then turned it in to the Captain.

The Captain took it to his quarters. There he turned on his transmitter and went back over his instructions. Following them, first the scans were encoded a number of times. This number was random based off a single use machine he'd been provided with for this mission. Next they were transmitted tight-beam over an ultra-low frequency. Belkedan returned to the bridge and awaited orders. Stage Beta was about to begin.

Something felt amiss, Phillips thought. As commander of the Xa Fel Homeland defense, he knew when something seemed wrong in the usual flight patterns around the Order's "capital." Large gaps between the merchant fleet's Yt-5700s and tourism starliners had formed, and between those pockets were deep zones of just black. Cloaked blackness.

Not that the commander could see that ofcourse. He was examining traffic reports like he did every morning at 7 A.M. Coruscant time. The times submitted and approved had large numerical gaps, and well, it just seemed wrong.

"Send the Immobilizer taskforce to examine the gaps. It's about time we got to test out these pieces of technology."

OOC: Immobilizer taskforce consists of 10 Immobilizer 1227's

OOC: Thanks for your patience, yesterday was rather busy for me.

IC: The "Formidable" and it's escorts were staying well away from any traffic in the system to prevent collisions and avoid detection. Captain Balkadar remained on the bridge overseeing the command crew as they guided the ship during it's sensor scans. The human officer was just noticing a small group of ships beginning to head thier direction when the bridge door opened and a Lieutenant from the Engineering section stormed in seeming frantic. "Sir, we have a problem," the young officer called out without saluting and out of turn.

Balkadar let that go for now, this seemed important. "What is it Lieutenant," he said calmly. The Engineer stammered at first and then informed his captain of the problem. "Sir, we have indications that the cloaking device isn't working properly, it's blocking out our image and hiding us, but it's not properly bending the light around the ship. If any of the Sith happen to be looking this way, they'll see a black patch instead of the proper starfield."

The Captain scowled, and took control of the issue. "Has engineering fixed it yet?" The Lieutenant was finally calming down now, "Yes sir, adjustments were being completed as I left my station to report this to you. We should be properly hidden now." The youth looked at his captain, who know held an approving look on his face. "Good job Lieutenant, get back to your station now and make sure this doesn't happen again. I want a report on what caused this when we return to New Alliance space." As the Lieutenant left, Belkadan ordered the ship to move. "Inform our support that we'll be moving immediately to a different area of the system. Stay far away from all ships, particularly that group of 1277s heading this way. Keep as far away from them as possible."

The crew was taking action before thier captain finished giving his orders. The Dinefet and it's Cloakshape fighter support immediately began moving, away from the incoming ships. First they broke up and away from the incoming Immobilizers before moving to a new area of the system, being carefuly not to give themselves away with thier movements.

Edit: Just bringing the thread back to the top.

A scrambled transmission came into the communication bays on the Immobilizers. “…ips… stay…way…1227s…” The communication officers had a field day tracing the warbled message. Obviously, there was a fleet of ships in system using short-range, burst transmissions, and obviously they did not want to be found.

A few seconds later another message came in, this time more clear now that the frequency had been attuned. This message blew the cloaked ships cover, and the 1227s set new coordinates to follow the cloaked cruisers.

Weapons charged and ready to attack, the captain of the lead 1227 mouthed a silent prayer.

John Expo, war reporter for the Xa Fel Times, strapped himself into his seat’s crash webbing onboard the bridge of a 1227. He was compiling a series on the Naboo Sith Order’s newest technology and was serving a three week stint onboard on of the newest Immobilizer 1227s. He had already spent time on the new version of the Victory Class Star Destroyer, the Star Destroyer Advance. The Advance was much more capacious than this three-hundred meter ship designed to capture pirates and other illegal ships.

Datapad in one hand, the other clutched to the seat in fear, Expo watched as the 1227 sped across space in search of a cloaked, unidentified force. He had not expected, when he began the series, that he would be in the middle of an actual engagement. But what better way to get a good story?
