So, any thoughts?

I just finished downloading the first four episodes, haven't watched 'em yet. About to tho. When I do, I want comments...

They're surprisingly not as bad as I thought they would be.

They're aimed a bit more for younger audiences, and there is a bit of a cartoonish vibe at times...but it's otherwise pretty good, at least in my opinion.

The first episode was okay. A solid 6.5 out of 10.

It started too abruptly, no real introduction or time to get immersed in the events, but it is a TV show after all and there is only so much you can do in 22 minutes.

I enjoyed the perspective of the clones, and how Yoda regards them counterbalanced against Ventress and her apparent disregard for her troops. A classic good versus bad dynamic. Although, with droids that dumb it's a wonder the Separatist army can form rank and file, never mind conducting advanced battle tactics.

And I agree, Corise. It has the feel of a show directed at a much younger audience but it keeps enough of that Star Wars feel to entice the older generation of fans. But that seems very symptomatic of the franchise these days - leaving the original fans betrayed while trying to pander to a newer, younger crowd.

On to episode two...

I didn't even know it was out yet. I'll have to check them out. Did you guys see the Clone Wars movie? I made the mistake of going to see it. According to what you and Corise are saying it sounds like this new show is much like the movie, aimed at kids.

That being said, I'm still going to check it out.

The movie amounts pretty much to a 2 hour episode of same.

Eh.

Looks like I'm officially not a fan of anything 'Star Wars' currently being made.

I'm keeping old school.

Anything?

There's still some good material being produced under the franchise license. It's just the George Lucas hands-on stuff that seems to be suffering.

ie; comics, novels etc.

I actually think the tv show is enjoyable, especially last night's episode.

Recent stuff seems to suck, yeah.

I haven't seen this new series (which I'm guessing is CGI like the latest movie release?), but I don't think I'll much enjoy it. I'm beyond tired of the Clone Wars, and want to see some Jedi Purge expansion.

Other than that, there hasn't been anything coming out worthwhile to see or watch.

I don't know how good this current series is since I haven't been able to check it out yet, but Beff's right... some of the stuff they're putting out is still pretty cool.

The Darth Bane novels were both pretty damn good, and some of the comics are really good. The new video game Force Unleashed was pretty bad ass, wasn't it? And soon to come we've got Star Wars: The Old Republic, the MMORPG made by Bioware which by my estimation is going to be awesome.
