I've seen recently.

Serenity:
kick ass, loved it and on the plus side, got Archie interested in the series so maybe I can score some of the seasons on DVD

Lord of War:
Saw it last night, good movie... trailer was missleading, made it look more like a comedy than what it was, but very good action drama flick

Madagascar:
was an ok cartoon but I found all the references to the voice actors other movies annoying

Alexander:
too much gay love was distracting from the rest of the story, it was hard to keep track of who was doing who and the way the movie flipped from present to past was confusing... would have been better without the switching around

Harry Potter, Goblet of Fire:
of course I loved it because I'm a big HP fan, but damn it, they cut so many things from this movie's storyline! That totally sucked. Although, I have to admit I was a bit shocked the first time Ron spoke, that actors voice changed alot between the last two films. Mad Eye Moody was delicious and the fake teeth they make Neville wear was very over done.

Just one.

Lord of War was an excellent film. Based on a true story and, if I may say so, Cage did a good job of humanizing the roll.

in the process of watching The 10th Kingdom... so far, very nice, but since it's a tv miniseries it's 6 hours long...

Let's see, what have I watched recently... some spoilers below...

Brother's Grimm -
Good movie, if you can totally forget anything historically while you watch it. VERY much Hollywood make believe and it has a totally unnecessary violence upon a kitten moment that distracts from the film.. But other than that, I loved Matt Damon and Heath Ledger both in this and I'm not a big fan of either. Monica Belluci was advertised far too much in the trailers for how little air time she gets.

Skeleton Key -
Sweet ass movie. Loved it. I don't like horror films with blood and gore, but this is my type of scary film. Me liked alot. I never got why Kate Hudson was so liked but she was very charming in this.

Kingdom of Heaven - SPOILERS - skip if you don't want to know....
OK movie. Not enough Liam Neeson. Some good acting in it, but I found myself liking the supporting actors better than the leads. David Thewlis, for a rather plain guy, rocks my socks. The leper was more interesting than Orlando Bloom's character and I wanted to throttle the writers for how they wrote the love interest. She's Queen and ruler of three bloody kingdoms and because she looses Jerusalem, she gives up everything and goes to live as a blacksmith's wife in poverty? So much for the other two kingdom's beloved ruler, she just threw them into major wars themselves over who takes her place just to follow him off ... BAH... well, when I can ignore those things, it was a good movie.

Merlin's Apprentice -
Remember the huge TV miniseries that had Sam Neill, Martin Short, Rutger Hauer, Miranda Richardson and a ton of other stars in it? Was like 6 hours long... Now THAT was a great mini series. This one.... not so much. It's the supposed sequel but they do so by totally ignoring the ending of the other movie. I couldn't get passed that enough to say it was a good movie. I liked it, but if you've seen the other one, you'll be annoyed with the sequel. Also, since you'll see it yourself, they fall back on the 'that's obviously a girl dressed as a boy but no one notices' which is hard to forgive them for.

Duece Bigalow, Europeon Gigalow -
Hilarious. You'll say eeeww! alot and be grossed out by most of it, but you'll still laugh at it.

The 40 Year Old Virgin -
I saw the unrated version so I don't know about the others, but the only thing I have to say about this is it has odd moments of sudden nudity or sex going on that to me seemed out of place. BUT other than that, very funny and sometimes sorta touching movie. I mean, they could have done it in a cruel way, like they normally do to little characters like this guy, but it came across as more real than cruel... Maybe it's Steve Carroll, he's a great funny guy. It also has the freakiest ending, like the whole crew got high one day and that's what they decided the movie should be like in the end... just weird...

The Life Aquatic -
A really strange film, but all the characters are so endearing you can forgive them their moments of fake-ness. Despite not being as funny as I thought it was going to be, I really liked it.

Mr and Mrs Smith -
The ending seems rushed and with no real resolve, but still, a pretty good action flick. While I have never really liked either of them, Pitt and Jolie show lots of charisma in this and they work well together. Let's hope they get together in a movie again some time.

The Duke's of Hazard -
WTF? Having been a fan of the TV series, this movie, while on it's own having entertaining parts, I couldn't get past the fact of how much of it they changed. Bo and Luke are now stupid and, in one case, frankly psychopathic, everyone is criminals, and sweet loving Uncle Jesse is now a crude foul mouthed perv... Don't get me wrong, casting Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse was a great idea, but they completely rewrote the character in such a way that's it jarring to watch

Stargate SC-1, Season 1 -
Yes, we've bought this and frankly, I'm glad. We've seen several episodes we haven't before already, although considering some of the ones we've watched so far, MAN the SciFi channel really shows alot of reruns of season 1. We're up to the episode of Hathor, which we've seen repeatedly but rewatched with an interest to see if it showed nudity. The pilot had full nudity of Danial Jackson's wife from Abadoss so we were curious as to how much of the original HBO shows were on the DVD. As always, Stargate rocks.
