I doubt the SW universe will fade. We've got comics, games, books, perhaps more movies set in the far future or past... Still lots of money to be made.

Well after Episode III when the Series is complete they will probally continue to make Star Wars books comics and such but Star Wars will finally become an official classic because it's a finished series.
