The Crusade begins!

I disagree with Telan and his point.

Simon Kaine has never known defeat, so he couldn't possibly know what it equates to.

Wow, I agreed with everything Demos said for the first time, ever... weird!

The Palestar Crusade started out as an interesting storyline group that would refresh the battlegrounds and generate activity. It had a compelling storyline, interesting characters, and many (including myself) looked forward to what the future would bring.

Then... it changed. It became an aggressive invading force whose only intentions seem to be to claim other people's stuff. I have yet to read any attempts at interesting storyline or compelling characters in it's most recent appearances.

Beff

I'm not leaving until I'm driven off or the Sith Order is in ashes.

Seriously... get the hell off Xa Fel unless you actually went there for something besides destroying their livelihood. NPC armies like the ones Dolash employs were perfectly fine in the original Palestar stories. And I am 100% sure they would be fine if you weren't on Xa Fel just to smack the Sith around and steal their planet. This is like saying if I piss Telan off OOC, he can take TNO's vast numbers of NPCs, chase me down, smash my tiny little Rebellion, and either kill or capture me against my will. Just to be an asshole. He could have the Imperial Guard do it no problem - after all, Leia is a very bad woman... she is trying to spread rebellious ideas throughout the universe. She must be spanked.

Since writing for Xa Fel seems to have halted and Beff has acknowledged that storyline problems do exist at least in that RP, I will shut the hell up now and wait anxiously for the new, improved version of the story...

One where the Crusade isn't two guys trying to be assholes to a bunch of guys who haven't done shit to them. Maybe you are trying to make a statement.... oh I dunno, about GC's long relationship with TNO?

Oh, and...

Telan
I was referring to a sweeping campaign where the Sith withdraw to save themselves and the crusade, seeing the untennable position and conquest not being their goal, they would withdraw as well.

You'll get played like a Wii, dude. Crusade is out for keeps.

I just spent half an hour working on a diplomatically worded response.

But instead, this is what I've come up with:

Play the game or go home. If it's not fun, tough. That's your choice, not mine.

If you have a problem with the Crusade, make your case or leave well enough alone.

&

Stop responding as though I were the mastermind behind this scheme.

I have to admit, the same thought has occured to me. "If you can't beat the Dark Side, join them" sort of mentality at work.

And that's just fine, as long as the Crusade remains an interesting and novel idea. But given Homecoming, Beff's comments that the Crusade's goal is to destroy the Sith, and Dolash's latest Crusade thread, I begin to wonder if the Crusade is in fact little more than the Coalition without the pesky restraints of being a crushed Light Side group. They get to war against the Empire without people telling them their people are up in arms, that their broke, etc.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I enjoyed Origin Story very much. But it strikes me that if the Crusade is going to set itself against the Empire, as it has done so far, then its leaders need to step back and ask themselves if they're writing for the sake of writing, or just creating a new group to beat up on the Empire.

This comment especially concerns me:

Play the game or go home. If it's not fun, tough. That's your choice, not mine.
First of all, Beff, get your panties out of that knot. TRF is a game, and it is supposed to be fun for all participants. The fact that you don't care if your opponents are enjoying it strikes me as incredibly selfish. It might be a competitive thread, but when the dust settles we are all members of TNO, and we have an obligation not to treat each other with respect. Your comment shows a complete and unwarranted lack of respect for any of your fellow roleplayers, and coming from a senior member of the community that suggests that disrespecting your fellows is OK, as long as you get what you want.

But that is not the case.

The Crusade has a lot of potential. But it will not get anywhere if it continues on the course you've set it. For the Crusade to succeed you need the cooperation of your fellow RPers. Disrespecting them is not the best way of getting their cooperation. Smarten up.

1.) And to reiterate...

Beff
Stop responding as though I were the mastermind behind this scheme.

2.)

and it is supposed to be fun for all participants.

The fact that this is coming from you is beyond ironic.

3.)

get your panties out of that knot.

Refer to entry #1 for source of said pantie knotting.

4.)

Do you also wonder if gravity still works? And while you're at it, refer to entry #1 and wonder that at someone else.

kthxbye

Sinsang is the Coalition without moral constraints and don't you forget it!

...wait, I wasn't supposed to say that.

What did you guys expect? Seriously?

How the hell are they supposed to go on a crusade? Did you think they were going to ask nicely to reign death and destruction upon the galaxy?

I've got to say, I think even this OOC thread is spiralling away from its' intended purpose. Leia, I'd say this is about the right time to say put up or shut up. If you want to lodge a formal complaint of some kind, you're an FC member and it is of course your perogative, but unless you want to make it official your arguments here are only obfusticating any actual discussion of the thread.

As for everything else, really, I just think it's best to plough ahead and finish this thread. This isn't the worst thing to happen in all of TRF, and it certainly is no crime. It's an attack - those happen all the time here - and second-guessing each other or impuging each other's "Right" to do this or that is getting excessive. We're not even discussing the specific issues of the thread any more, like "Can he do this attack?" or "Did you misrepresent this character here?", and the current rather meta discussion isn't going to help us conclude this thread any better.

I'm aware it's been our turn for some time, and that we've generally inconvenienced everyone with this delay. Within an hour or two another post will be up, and even if you end up taking issue with it (though I'm consciouscly trying to minimize that possibility for the sake of a clean ending) at least it will move things towards completion, that seems to be everyone's goal.

Omnae
I see.

Then you would do well to stop cloaking the Crusade as something fun for all writers when your true intent is to burn them.

Also, strictly speaking, it's indeed our purpose to attack other factions with intent to harm them, but if you're not prepared for that risk and are unable to have fun under those circumstances then really running a major faction like the Sith is a bad idea. Attacking people is part of what makes TRF what it is. If you can't at least have fun with it then you're just inviting a headache, especially if you want to be the Grand Dark Lord of Evil but can't handle a little invading.

My formal complaint is stated above. I don't believe this is solely a FC matter.

You certainly gave TNO it's fair share of crap... why did Simon Kaine retire again? Refresh my memory, whose whining was that? I fully intend to pursue this discussion until a conclusion is reached, because this is not right.

PS: There is a difference between going on a Crusade for the sake of fun and storyline (which I might point out Beff, was exactly what the Crusade was advertising itself as back when Xa Fel started. Your story certainly has changed since then huh?), and starting a Crusade for the express purpose of swooping down onto groups and attempting to take everything they own. That's not good IC conduct, that is petty OOC bullshit. Did anyone ever do that to you?
