Beff: I've spoken to both Ishara and Taja, and they know they have to pass any, and all, rank promotions through the Force Council; to which we will vote and let them know of the result. :)
I've been covering the angles, I'm not just a pretty face.
I'm not sure what it is you read but there is nothing in there stating we are doing anything different than what TRF mandates. A character trains, we decide if they should get promoted, then we submit it to the Force Council like everyone else. I will revisit what was posted and see if there is something that wasn't clear. I've been doing some cut & pasting so I could have missed something.

Vance has been instrumental through this process and clear as to what needs to be followed.
***Edit - If this was the gap you noted, it has been fixed. Beff, since you pointed this out, I'd appreciate a confimation from you that this was what you were talking about.
The basic guidelines to being promoted are as follows:
- Minimum Time: The minimum amount of time before even being considered for a promotion for a starting character is 2 months. This means two months of constant activity on the boards; both IC and OOC. You can not join, post a few times, leave and then come back at the end of two months and be expecting to rank up. It will not happen.
- Role-Plays: You will have to have at least one complete RP under your belt, (complete = 60 posts or more) and if you don't have that, you need at least the above that in multiple RPs, (multiple RPs = 30+ posts in each). Sometimes it can be hard to complete or finish an RP, but we need to be able to see you are ready for promotion and that your writing ability is up to par with the rank you are looking at.
- Activity: We want to see you all over the place, both IC and OOC, and keeping the Nightsisters alive and kicking through your posting.
- Following The Rules: Keep yourself under control, follow the rules and don't God-Mode in RPs. We will not promote a player who shamelessly starts fights, cusses people out or is a general annoyance to the community. If you want to be that kind of member, we suggest you see yourself out of the temple door.
- Once it has been determined by the Circle that you are ready for promotion, they will submit a request to the Force Council for final approval.
As you can see, the basic promotional guidelines are fairly simple and just need for you to use common sense. To sum it up: If you're a positive, active member of the Nightsisters, you will be promoted.
You seem to have addressed my initial observation; that is to state that you are aware that your ranking system, while perfectly fine, does not take presidence over the Force Rules and Ranking System as accepted by the Force Council. Note that my comment was not a form criticism but simply a verification of that understanding.
Having qualified that, let me move on to the next point you have, perhaps accidentally, broached:
While I appreciate that your own internal In Character rank structure has to be ratified within the faction for internal promotion I want to clarify that your "Circle" does not have the authority to veto a Force Council promotion application. Each member, writing from the perspective of a Force-Using character, is entitled to the same rights as anyone else. That is to state that once a character has met the requirements for Force Rank promotion it is their perogative to request promotion from the Force Council. This has Out Of Character implications as well as In Character.
For instance;
Character X meets the requirements for promotion to Knight. Out Of Character he has completed all the necessary threads and stories to put himself (or herself) in a position to be promoted. This has a direct effect on the characters abilities within the Galaxy, In Character, while the rank of Knight may not be observed IC it is accepted, OOC, that the character does in fact have the status of Knight even if your "Circle" has not yet deigned to promote him/her within the Faction.
A character can be a different rank OOC (with IC implications as to Force Use) then his actual In Character rank and/or title.
Certianly having the support of your "Circle" will be of considerable benefit when the Council considers a member for promotion.
Simply put: A character/player has the right to either be seen fit for promotion or ask for a promotion, whether or not the Nightsister circle agrees, if the Force Council decides as such about said character/player.
This, in turn, means the Force Council's ruling becomes law, and said character is promoted if deemed fit.
Beff likes to use big words; it appears to raise his IQ above that of beef porn.
