Regarding planetary takeovers... How do they work?

i understand that you write a 5000 word post about taking over the planet. But where can i find planets that are not owned by anyone? Can i make up the state that the planet is in at the begining? Does it have to have intelagent life?

I would greatly apreciate someone explaining this to me, Thank you!

In so far as I know, you can create your own planet to take over, and have the added benefit of it being hidden, but it cannot contain any valuable resource.

There are tons upon tons of planets in the various novels, games, comics, etc. that haven't even been touched yet.

You can make planets up (but they can't have uber resources), or you can use one of the numerous planet guides available. There's a link to the Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia below, that has a good list of planets in it, as well as innumerable other things.
