Racial Riots
  • Posted On: Oct 8 2003 2:59am
On Rodia today riots broke out once more in a demonstration against the tyranical rule of the Coalition. The "Members Only" club of the galactic governing body showing once more that if you are not human or Mon Calamari your voice is silent. This reporter must ask himself, "Didn't you learn from the Republic's similar stance?". I put to you that they evidently did not.

More than fifteen hundred Rodians were injured or killed by "Police Keeping Forces" in the riots just this week.

When will these mindless attacks by the Coalition cease?

This reporter hopes it is soon.

And when will the endless lies and propaganda of the Empire cease?

The supposed 'Racial Riots' on Rodia has actually never happened. How do I know this?

Because I am Rodian.

I have lived here, on Rodia, all my life, because I am Rodian. We are a society that loves the hunt, and we harbor no ill will towards the Empire or the Coalition. The Coalition came to us in peace, and it does not govern us like a dictatorship. It treats all members of Rodain society fairly and with justice. The leaders of the Galactic Coalition has actually little or no influence in our way of life. They are there to protect us and to make sure we live in safety and peace.

I do not know who you are, Mr. D. Kil. But you are wrong and I ask you to stop fabricating lies about the Rodian society, you know nothing and you are wrong. The Rodian people will not sit by and watch reporters such as yourself to speak wrong words and lies about us. We are not the Coalition, we are Rodia.

"It is true, you know, no such riots have happened. I would have known"

A response from the desk of D. Kil.

--

The Empire? I am an independant reporter, my dear sir. Also I am sure you do not see the hidden actions of bigotry against your people since you are, from what I can tell, a member of the upper class. These incidents did, in fact, take place. The coalition may attempt to cover up or bury it all they wish. I was there. I witnessed them.

Do not accuse me of spreading lies and propaganda until you know the facts.

Mr. Kil, you seem to claim that the Galactic Coalition is racially unfair. I wonder why you would claim such things. I am a working class Cren, a species that inhabits Farquak. We were in a civil war, lead by a terrorist and dictator, who wanted to rule the galaxy. The Mon Calamari Republic and the New Rebellion, both of which are now part of the Galactic Coalition, came and helped us, they liberated us. We asked them to coem, and they came. After that, they were prepared to leave, and let us be alone once more. Instead, we decided to join them. The Galactic Coalition does not treat us unfairly, and we are neither human or Mon Calamari. They defended us against the Imperial attack, and they helped us get rid of some rebels that were trying to take over, and then bring our former ruler back in power. The Galactic Coalition is fair. I wonder though, what government do you support Mr. Kil?"

Mr. Frem'ra, if indeed that is your real name, I am an independant reporter. It is my job to report events as they happen. It is also my job to remain neutral when it comes to politics. I will, however, speak out against injustice and indecency. I will speak out against a government who brainwashes it's citizens into believing they all have a fair chance at a piece of their dream.

You are living in a dream world, mister Frem'ra, a dream world created for you by the propaganda machine which is the Coalition. A dream world concocted by Humans and Mon Calimari to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. A dream world that will only be shattered when it is to late.

To late for you to stop them.

Wake up, mister Frem'ra, before you and your people suffer the same fate as so many before you.

Mr. Kil, my name is indead Frem'ra. And if you speak out against injustice and indecency, then how come no one has ever heard of you before now, when this is a galaxy full of injustice. Also, how come you never reported on The New Order's assault on Talus and Tralus, where they murdered numerous citizens, and declared themselves in control of the two worlds? How can you support your claim of being an independant reporter when you only speak out against the Galactic Coalition, and when you do, you only speak out against riots that you made up? The Galactic Coalition has brainwashed no one. They do not use propoganda, they tell the citizens the truth. The Empire on the other hand has used propoganda in the past. They claimed that the Mon Calamari Republic and Iron Fist Empire were going to destroy Ralltiir, despite the fact that Ralltiir was a strong supporter of the Iron Fist Empire. In fact, I have a very good feeling that you, Mr. Kil, are sponsored by the Empire to write a bunch of garbage and lies.

Yes, Mr. Frem'ra, I can see that you do not lower yourself to propaganda and lies. Certainly we can all see how very neutral you are in all this. You have been brainwashed by a dictating regime of facists.

Let go and find truth, my friend.

The Holonet

By Ayddar Veila

"The Holonet is great, it really is. Anyone can pull a bunch of asinine, random accusations out of thin air and get a billion people to read them."

-Theren Gevel

I've been around a long time, and I've seen a lot of things in my time. It's been my duty to report on the tragedies that strike at us every day.

Lately, though, I've found that there is to much shit on the Holonet to make it worthwhile. After all, who can possible hear the words of one man over the government-funded propaganda warfare that rages presently?

The New Order has proven that they are masters at the art of playing with words. With his silver tounge and quick wit, Theren Gevel can make anyone believe that the rape and murder of a virgin girl in front of ten thousand witnessess never happened. Or, at least, had nothing to do with the Empire.

And the Coalition (I must mention them, because we're all aware of the Empire's latest target) tries. They really do.

But they are no match for the Empire, as is proven by their absence from the holonet battleground of late. The New Order and their hounds at INS, it seems, have finally scored a victory over their enemies.

And so it has come down to this: syndicated collumns. It was Theren Gevel that once said the holonet is great, because anyone can get on it and make a billion people read whatever they post.

As has become the case with the flurry of pieces regarding riots (or lack thereof) on the planet Rodia. Rodia, of course, is the home of the Rodians, notoriously stereotyped for their roles as pirates and bounty hunters.

In the last several days, several personalities have emerged on the holonet, each with their own unique perspective on the supposed riots. And their views, surprisingly enough, are in line with either the New Order, or the Coalition.

The neutrality that the media once exhibited is long gone (but then, it's been gone since the last VNN report. And don't we all wish for Victor Barell back?).

Instead, we have biased reporters slandering the Empire or the Coalition, depending on who signs their pay check. Take the recent article by a reporter calling himself D. Kil.

More than fifteen hundred Rodians were injured or killed by "Police Keeping Forces" in the riots just this week.

When will these mindless attacks by the Coalition cease?

This reporter hopes it is soon.

Note the "quotes" surrounding the Police Keeping Forces. The obvious implication is that these Police Forces are less true authorities than militant murderers.

Note also the second line, referring to "mindless attacks by the Coalition". Hardly the sort of thing you would see in your average independent news source!

Independent sources cannot afford to swing one way or the other, simply because they rely on the readers to fund them.

Not so with D. Kil. Obviousily, he has no need to worry about his next meal. The Empire has his ass covered, after all.

Though, I must say I am slightly disapointed. I had thought the Empire much more subtle than this. Perhaps the INS Corrospondent we've been hearing so much from is taking a much-needed vacation.

The other great thing about the holonet, which Mr. Gevel failed to mention, is that it doesn't matter who you really are. Anyone can make up whatever name they like and slap it on their silly articles.

And once it reaches the Holonet, there's literally no way to know whether the writer is real, or a farbrication.

A perfect example comes from a Cren calling himself Frem'ra. Note the similarities between his words, and the words spoken by Jan Dondanda and other representives of the Galactic Coalition:

Obviously, this 'Frem'ra' is not the neutralist he believes himself to be. But again, what does neutrality matter when you're recieving a big fat bonus from the leaders of the Coalition?

Unbiased news sources have no place in our galaxy, it seems.

Let me leave you with one last piece, this one again from D. Kil, that I find particularly ammusing:

It is my job to report events as they happen. It is also my job to remain neutral when it comes to politics... I will speak out against a government who brainwashes it's citizens... You are living in a dream world, mister Frem'ra, a dream world created for you by the propaganda machine which is the Coalition... Certainly we can all see how very neutral you are in all this. You have been brainwashed by a dictating regime of facists.

Yes, D. Kil (if that is your real name). You certainly do a fine job of "remaining neutral when it comes to politics".

Mr. Veila,

Your most recent report is ammusing and entertaining. However, you acuse me of being linked to the New Order without proof, that, my friend, is slander. You acuse me of "having my paychecks signed by the New Order" or something to that effect. However, I am independantly funded by my own personal wealth.

Indeed my name is not D. Kil, however I will freely admit such. I do not need the people I live near or govern influencing my reporting in any way. Even a neutral reporter will speak out against great injustice. We will speak our mind, no matter which side is performing the acts. I have said nothing for or against the New Order yet you assume to know my stance on them.

In fact, many of you have assumed much. I reported on one event and the people behind that event. What does that have to do with the New Order? Nothing. You that back the coalition insist upon turning the finger to the New Order simply because you cannot handle the heat of the truth. If you wish to report on events reguarding the New Order, do it. However, the New Order had no bearing on this particular event.

Sincerely,

D. Kil
