Millions dead in Thisspiass disaster
Empire launches mercy mission to devestated Mid Rim World

Millions died yesterday in what experts are calling the worst natural disaster the galaxy has seen in centuries.

Thisspiass, a small world near the Perlmanian trade route, was struck yesterday by massive groundquakes that wrought unimaginable destruction and caused waves of up to 100 meters to sweep inland, destroying everything in their path.

Sparesely populated and without any direct link to the outside galaxy, the disaster would have gone unnoticed were it not for an Imperial survey vessel that happened to be nearby and pick up a distress single from the surface.

In response to this emergency, the Empire has launched a mercy mission aimed at relieving the immediate consequences of the disaster and, once the situation has stabilized, rebuilding Thisspiass. The Empire has announced that independent aide organizations are welcome to render any assistance they can, but that the Empire's mission will oversee all aide workers on the planet.

Thisspias lies in Imperial space, and so a direct response from the Galactic Coalition is not expected, but officials from independent organizations insist that any assistance the Coalition can offer will go a long way to relieving the devestation on Thisspiass.

"This is an intergalactic emergency," a spokesperson said, "this tragedy transcends government. This is a chance for the Empire and the Coalition to show that they can work together for the greater good."

The Empire has refused to comment on whether the Coalition will be granted the right to send a relief force, or if the Imperial Fleet on station at Thisspiass will turn them away.

The Coalition also refused comment at the time of publication as to what, if any, response they would have to this emergency.

The Coalition is willing to assist.

In a statement today to press, the Coalition Government said it passed a bill to investigate and alliviate the crisis in Thisspiass, even agreeing to put any aide efforts under the Empire.

"Although we have yet to recieve the full details on the situation." said Regrad. "We are scrambling to do so, and would be glad to help any disaster-plagued people who needed it."

It has yet to be specified just what manner of aide will be provided or how, however, the Coalition's House is having a special meeting to go over the current financial and emergency serivces status to determine what sort of response can be mustered.

A diplomat has been deployed to the Empire, and another to Thisspiass, to gain further understanding of the situation and to determine what is needed of the Coalition to ensure a quick recovery.
