Declaration of War

Live From Jutraal

The image of Emperor Fearsons cuts in as the emblem of the Jutraalian Empire fades into non-existence.

Citizens of the galaxy, of the Jutraalian Empire, and all other sovereignties nigh and abroad, I come to you under the most desperate of circumstances, in a situation that is dire that compares even to the days of the Imperial-Republic Wars. I come to you to explain slaughter, murder, and massacre to the highest degree.

For weeks, months even we have endured the laborous false propaganda that has been slandered forth by the Demosthesian Empire, an unofficial sovereignty that made its claim to power by brainwashing its children, and hiding behind the ruse of an "industrial corporation". We have heard lies and taunts, childish behavior and pointless grabble.

Until then we have tolerated this and shrugged it aside - foolish use of HoloNet is no reason to take up military action and risk lives. However, after the Skirmish at Commenor and the new assault on Tholatin it has become patently clear:

The Demosthesian Empire refuses to cooperate. They will kill until there is nothing left to kill and then they shall enslave, their own indoctrination assures this as I have reported to you.

It is because of this, in direct response to invasion of Confederate Space and the unnecessary slaughter of innocent life, I hereby declare war on the Demosthesian Empire and its splinter terrorist cell, LFX Industrial.

However not only was this my decision. Unanimously was this agreed by the Jutraalian Council, the Jutraalian Congress, and the Jutraalian Joint-Chiefs-of-Staff. It is no longer a time for us to sit idley by and watch as atrocities unbound reap across the galaxy and tear its already fragile existence in two.

Jutraal prepares for war, though it will accept nothing short of victory.

This victory shall be attained through the following:

The liberation of Thyferra

The disarmament of Demoshtesian Warships

The expulsion of Admiral Drayson and the Shadow Operative Ton Karlos, who's name appears in our records as an Imperial Elitist who takes great pleasure in the screaming of his victims

And finally the acknowledgement of the desolation of the indoctrine of the Demosthesian Church.

Emperor Ashar shall pay for the millions being slaughtered on Tholatin as we speak.

Some of you may ask why our fleets are not sent to counter this threat, some of you ask why I do not personally go to oversee the battle and route the Demosthesians where they are at.

I answer you with this: It was only today that the message was able to come to us the severity of the situation. Jutraalian Intelligence agents had been cut off, murdered, or driven to insanity.

It was thanks only to Prince Vondiranach's courageousness that we were able to truly see the inhumanity being wrought onto the planet now.

I speak these words now Seti Ashar, as of this moment you have incurred the wrath of Jutraal. This is never wise, and you, not your people, not your men, shall feel the pain.

Those who wish to surrender thall be accepted with open arms, those who wish to be refugees and flee the tyranny of the Demosthesian Empire are welcome.

But I warn you now Ashar, you will be given no further chances.

A Decleration of War, Mr. Fearsons? But wait... did the Holy Demosthesian Empire not already route your pitiful forces from an ambush scene? Did we not destroy the Star Destroyer Spirit of Fearsons as it moved to engage our forces?

Yes, Mr. Fearsons. As you no doubt failed to realize, the Holy Demosthesian Empire is already at war with your Jutraalian 'Empire'. This, I'm afraid, is merely a last-minute attempt to save face.

Or perhaps, to justify to yourself the slaughter of thousands of innocent people. The liberation of Tholatin was over within minutes of our arrival in the system. The Tholatin Empire fled, running with their tail between their legs, to escape. The people of Tholatin no longer suffer under a dictator who is little more than a child himself. The people of Tholatin are now proud members of the Holy Demosthesian Empire.

We shall defend our worlds against oppressive regimes attempting to take them for their own ends. We shall not allow the people of this Empire to serve as pawns in Fearsons' game - we shall not allow them to be forced into the construction of monserous superweapons, we shall not allow them to die because Fearsons wishes to gain more territory... or settle his grudge with the Holy Empire for the destruction of his favourite warship.

The Battle of Tholatin was bloodless and swift. If the Jutraalian Empire sees fit to assault the Holy Empire, the battles will not be bloodless, nor swift. The Jutraalian Empire shall learn the true cost of warring with the Empire.

And only then shall Emperor Fearsons understand - he is not God, nor is he God's disciple.

After the Press Conference, News Report with the Palpable Constable

Palpable Constable Arius Kelptoren

Sharlene Descord: So Constable Kelptoren, what is your current view on the new war with the Demosthesian Empire?

PCAK: I can't say that I'm exactly impressed with the Imperial conduct up to this point.

Sharlene: Oh? May I ask why?

PACK: It's simple, they can't be trusted with any of the resources at their disposal. They poisoned bacta in an attempt to commit genocide on Tholatin, they assailed a courier ship, and they launched an unprovoked assault against a peaceful planet.

Sharlene: A courier ship? May I ask to which one you refer to?

PACK: Of course, I refer to the Defender Star Destroyer Yaga Minor, the one that was destroyed out past Commenor.

Sharlene: No offense meant my lord, but Admiral Drayson refers to her as the Spirit of Fearsons...

PACK: Aye, her original name after being seized from the Chiss Empire. It was more a joke than anything else. After its heroics at Yaga Minor she was redubbed that for its namesake.

Sharlene: What was this courier ship's mission then? He says that it was there to destroy the Imperial presence there.

The constable looks as though he is going to laugh.

PACK: With such a force? You don't truly believe that the Jutraalian Empire would place morons who would send such a small force to counter such a strong one in a position of military authority do you? They were there on a peace-talking mission. Tholatin was maliciously ambushed when complying with Imperial demands. The emperor did not want a war, he just sent Lord Carus with a handful of escorts to try to talk the trouble out. The carracks and fighters were there sheerly to defend the Yaga Minor.

Sharlene: The arguement however can be made that the Jutraalians fired first...

PACK: And may I ask how my dear?

Sharlene: Well according to reports made by Imperial Public Relations, Jutraalian fighters began attacking an Imperial interdictor.

PACK: (with a nod) IPR, the very people who shoot out this pointless slander. Jutraalian fighters made no such actions. In fact, they only responded in an attempt to free diplomatic forces after cloaked ships began attacking the courier ships.

Sharlene: I see...

PACK: I assure you ma'am, if we had gone there with the intentions of war, Admiral Drayson would not be alive to be making those posts.

Sharlene can not help but smirk at that.

Sharlene: You are confident in Jutraalian victory then my lord?

PACK: Oh very. The Demosthesian Empire focuses everything on forcing its people to work, or brainwashing them. Its the fanatics we have to worry about. But we have a plan.

Sharlene: Oh may I inquire then?

PACK: (shaking his head slowly) No ma'am I am sorry, that is high up on the confidential tree.

Sharlene: Understandable. Can you at least tell us Jutraalian plans for Thyferra?

PACK: It is of little importance to our plans. Ryloth will supply us with all the medical needs we require, while Ryll kor is not quite as powerful, it shall certainly assist more than no medical supplies will. Even now the emperor's own son, Sarek Fearsons, opens negotiations with Ryloth to welcome her into the empire.

Sharlene: So Ryloth will replace Thyferra then?

PACK: More or less.

Sharlene: What about the attack on Tholatin, what is the Jutraalian Empire's stance on that?

PACK: They invaded sovereign space, part of the Confederate Union or not. I would call their tactics genious if they weren't so pathetic and vile.

Sharlene: Pathetic and vile my lord?

PACK: Very! First Tholatin sets up a check point, not a blockade as they try to emphasize, to capture a handful of known terrorists that were travelling through the system at that time. Trade was not stopped, commerce flowed, and everything was fine and perfect, just a mild delay as we inspected incoming ships. Of course the at the time LFX Industrial requested us they leave and so they did. On the way back to Tholatin, they set up an ambush and assaulted them. Thousands of men were killed because Tholatin complied with an Imperial request.

Sharlene: Do you expect atrocities to be committed by the Demosthesian Empire?

PACK: It is run by Seti Ashar and the Demosthesian Church, I am pretty certain that some shall occur, though I shall try to be optimistic. I am sure that Lord Ashar can be civil about his warfare, even if he cannot about his foreign politics.

Sharlene: One more question sire before I must go...can you discuss the Jutraalian Empire's overall strategy against the Desmothesian Empire?

PACK: Of course, we're going to enter their space, and beat them.

Press Release:

I have reviewed records of the hostilities of the 'Holy Demothesian Empire' against the peaceful and benevolent Tholatin Republic, the threats on Ossan citizen and ally Prince Kamon Vondiranch, and the warmongering of this theocratic regime. I have also seen unequivocal evidence from the Jutraalian Empire and Tholatin Republic linking the LFX Industrial Corporation to the Holy Demosthesian Empire.

This being the case, I have no choice but to declare that it is the standing of the Ossan Parliament that LFX Industrial and the worlds it maintains are nothing more than fronts for a dangerous organization bent on violent galactic conquest, designed to provide monetary assistance to it in its quest to do harm to allies of Ossus. In accordance with this, and as per Protective Designation Act (X116-B), I have no choice but to declare a state of war on the Holy Demosthesian Empire, and all of her counterfeit aliases.

As the Sovereign-Elect of the Ossan Parliament, I will be mobilizing to assist both the Jutraalian Empire and the Tholatin Republic in their times of peril. This assistance will be economic, in the form of channeling revenue from Adegan gems towards the two governments; military, in the form of Ossan military and paramilitary forces, as well as leading tacticians, placed at the disposal of Jutraal and Tholatin; and medical, in the form of Jedi Healers and other expert medical personnel.

Good luck and may the Force be with you to all those who aid in the downfall of this bane upon our galaxy.

-Gash Jiren
Sovereign-Elect, Ossan Parliament

Press Conference:

It was raining, on Ossus.

It was raining all over the galaxy.

Gash pulled a hood over his head, dragged forward through the terrential downpour by OIA agents. The speedercade sat behind them, red lights still flashing on the speeders through the pouring rain. Their sirens blared a plaintiff cry that Gash echoed in his mind.

"Sir!" Kasien Treseda yelled over the sound of the storm, rushing from the building in front of them. Inside, Gash knew, would be a hundred ravenous reporters, ready to jump all over him for putting Ossus into a war, for acting too late or too soon or acting at all. "The Remak Party has been running smear ads all day! They're going to try to tear into you, sir!"

They were finally inside, Gash taking off his hood and Kasien trying futiley to scrub the rain off of his trench coat. The two continued walking, only seconds until the press conference was scheduled to start. "Third from your left, sir, will be a reporter named Kiven Rexet from the ViaOssus network. They're pro-war; ask him first, get a feel for the room and the mic. After him, the questions are going to be tough; they're going to start asking about your motivations. They're going to tear into you."

"Yeah." The pair, followed by the OIA agents, finally reached the door to the room. "Thanks," Gash said, and opened it, to the flashes of holocameras and the sounds of reporters frantically protesting for their chance to speak with the Sovereign-Elect.

And when he got to the podium, and looked down upon the group, and it came time to ask for the first question, he did not point to Kiven Rexet.

Sir, the Remak party maintains that your motivation for this war is purely based on your empathy for Kamon Vondiranch. Is this true?

GJ: My motivation for this war is my empathy for Kamon Vondiranch, and every other innocent citizen of Tholatin injured by this murderous band of villains. My motivation for this war is the motivation that all Ossans have always had; the defense of the innocent. It is the right thing to do, so we're going to do it.

Are you suggesting that Ossus is going to become involved in every instance of the abuse of sentient rights?

GJ: Yeah. And we're going to win them all, too.

That sent a low murmer of what might have just been approval over the group.

Would you care to comment on the capture of Tholatin by the Demosthesians?

GJ: It's disheartening and sickening, to be sure. It just shows that the enemy we are dealing with is vicious and brutal, and will strike for the heart by any means necessary, and for any reason. For no reason. The Demosthesians think they're gods, and they need to be proven wrong.

Sir, do you believe that the Holy Demosthesian Empire is a terrorist organization, as the Jutraalian Empire has been so maligned for deeming it?

GJ: From the beginning, this 'Empire' has looked like a menace. Anyone who has been watching the warning signs won't be suprised by their acts of aggression. So, yes, I do believe that they are terrorists. Unprovoked assaults on peaceful governments are acts of terror.

Then how far is the Ossan Parliament willing to go to fight them?

I have already spoken at length with Emperor Fearsons about this, and I assure you, we will stop at nothing to see the end of this menace. The galaxy will be safe, and Tholatin will be free again. If it means means personally hurling myself at Demosthesian soldiers, I will do it. And I'll win.

And so the conference continued.

Remarks from Tholatin, Hawk-bat Military Operatios Centre

The Jutraalian Empire and Ossus Parliment claim to want peace, to protect innocents. I ask the leaders of these two govrernments why they stand by and allow warships of the New Order to invade Mon Calamari space, to bomb cities and sieze planets through violent conquest.

Where the liberation of Tholatin was nearly bloodless, Commodore Theren Gevel sees fit to launch blistering attacks against 'military' targets, with no cares for civilian consequences.

The Emperor wishes to hide his disgrace over his tactical incompitence (reports indicate that he denied outright that the Spirit of Fearsons had been lost until showed the debris) with blood.

Bravo, Mr. Fearsons.

(PS, TNO's attack of Mon Cal is not known throughout the galaxy - it's only progressed a few minutes IC, not hours or days )

(Not so, Kas. Gash's Kamino attack has been over for some time, IC. History Teacher II: Legacy makes reference to it, and that RP is set some days later.)

(Yes, Kas, we're setting this after TNO's thing. Not everything occurs simultaneously; that would just be stupid, if it did.)

(Just double-checking)
