One of the better people to ask about Black Sun would be Kach...considering that he was doing something with it as Prince Gorma. I haven't seen any BS action in about a year though. But bear in mind: Black Sun is part of the Union.

There have been several other criminal groups in the past, most of which haven't survived because of activity (Taja's comes to mind). Some groups have criminalesque factions within them, such as the Alliance...

Alright, thanks for the information. I'll see if I can contact Kach and ask about BS, and otherwise I'll go to the Union to ask for info.

The Union is the best group to join if you're looking for a "criminal" group. No one else approaches them in terms of that element... :D If they don't have the exact element you're looking for, I'm sure they'd be willing to expand to include you. Talk to the Union directly, but I'm sure they'll be able to accomodate you. If they don't have an active Black Sun player, there's no reason you couldn't be that person.

As for starting a faction, we don't suggest new players do so, anyway. So no worries there. I would suggest joining an established group, and if later you decide you want to start a faction, do so then. :)

Welcome to The Rebel Faction; use at your own risk.

And don't join the Guild. I'm lazy and that would be work.

All joking aside, welcome aboard. If you have any questions, comments or concerns you can feel free to broach them via any number of electronic medium (those of us without AIM tend to have another IM device, and those without any tend to have email while those without even that have, of course, the built-in PM box which allows users to exchange in-system messages) outside of TRF or go ahead and post 'em right here.

The sage advice reads as follows...

Read the Rules & FAQ pages. Re-read them. Even the parts that don't add up. Take a gander at our Timeline, Planets List and Factions to get an idea of what is going on where in the galaxy currently and recently. It can't hurt to turn your eyes over a few of the on-going stories here to get an idea of what, exactly, it is we do here.

TRF isn't like many other online communities... and if it is, gods pity us. Our membership tends toward elitism and though we're all friends (more or less) lines have been drawn in the sand, years past or present, which still affect interpersonal relationships. Our sense of humor can, at times, seem obscure or downright abstract (when it's not mired in gay-jokes) but it's important you know that we are all fairly educated, fairly open-minded individuals so don't take anything too seriously.

Warnings and welcomes aside.

Enjoy!

Hehe, that's like the first thing I did before even registering. Well, maybe not re-reading them, but reading the stuff at least once through.

Thanks for that advice, Demosthenes. I'll pm Brutus or someone else in the hotseat of the Union.

Try going for a multi-language, yet still English, and therefore understandable welcoming approach Kach, it's much more unique than sticking with one language.

For example:

Da (Russian) Chap (English), welcome (american), to the fatherland (German) that is TRF (Internet).

But seriously.

Welcome to TRF, stay away from me, Beff, and Demos, and you should be able to avoid going insane for a while longer.

What's sanity? Truly, I know not.

Anyways, thanks for the welcomes. I've pmed Brutus and Kach both, but have yet to get any replies. I heard that PM replies are scarce here, so I'm not too sure if I'll be getting a response back soon. Would it help to post what I have for a bio right now (it was developed originally for another site that hasn't started yet) and alter it later, or keep waiting? Or just start posting someplace without a bio or connections (and the only reason why I'd ask that is because my character is created to depend on a faction)?

I'm not entirely sure if I understood correctly, but here is my interpretation of the right answer:

If you want to post a bio, go right on ahead, you don't need to be in a faction to do that. If you want to start a roleplay, again, go right ahead as you don't need to be in a faction for that. Since you aren't a member of the Union or Black Sun as of yet it would be wise to avoid saying you are, but you could talk about your character and what he/she/it is doing prior to joining or whatever you want. If you were planning on somewhat having a small group within the Union, you could even start developing that, taking into account the small group would still not be in the Union as of yet.

I do encourage you to start something, not only does it give prospective groups a chance to see what you offer, but it lets you write here and not get bored of just waiting for a reply to a pm. Plus it will give me something else to read other than my school work, so really, post now;).

As for waiting for PMs, yes sometimes it can take awhile, depending on who the player is. As I myself am not around that much, I can't tell you if Brutus is currently active or not, same with Kach (I sawKach post recently OOCly, not sure if he's still posting much ICly). Which is why I'm encouraging you to do something, so you still have the opportunity to do something and don't just leave our delightful internet paradise annoyed because no one got back to you. New members are always welcome and wanted, despite our sometimes apparences as, well, asses. Really we're all cute cuddly care bears on the inside.

Fuck you, Jan. I am neither "cute" nor "cuddly". I'm the fucking grizzly bear you pissed off when you went camping, and like an idiot forgot bear mace. You're dead.
