Attatchments

Is it possible for file attactments to be larger than 2 MBs? Only I've got TNO's first Flash Add done, and it's 2.9 MB when all is said and done, and it's just a little to large for the attactment or for my server.

Or, come to think of it, does anyone have server space that they'd be willing to share for the purposes of convincing people to join the New Order?

Server space? Like image host?

I could do it for yas, if its an image host.

I see that you've got the same problem I had with the TRF ad. An ad should load quickly, no one is going to wait thirty minutes for an advert to download. At low audio quality I had the file size down to under 400kb, but it sounded like crap.

I'll poke around and see what I can do about the size, but you're really going to have to work on getting it smaller in any case.

Yeah. It's only 3000 KB on my hard drive, but to upload it is very space consuming. Which is strange, because I know a website with some really, really long Flash animations, and they're all under or around one MB.

I don't get it.

It's really all in sound quality, compression, as well as in how you build the animation. If you have dozens and dozens of symbols in your animation, rather than just a dozen or so that get reused over and over, it's going to be larger.

Check here for some tips on how to make it smaller: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/filesize.htm

I made it smaller. But .swf isn't a recognized file type for uploads. :(

Is there a way to change that, or do I have to find another server?

I can change that, I believe. You could also zip it, so people can download it directly to view.

[edit: Zip the bugger, there's a 10MB limit for zips]

Remind me to download WinZip again. Anyway, I compressed the audio and got Roadfly to accept it... check it out in the OOC Forum.

If you have windows XP just right-click the file, and select "Send to" then "Compressed Folder" and windows will zip it for you.
