Anyone else getting this?

Lately whenever I post in Battlegrounds it gives me a 'Invalid thread specified' error, yet my post still gets through. Very annoying...

I haven't experienced that, but - if you're not doing it already - it would be a good idea to start writing your posts in a word processor, just incase an error of some kind eats them up and you loose 'em completely.

Is it just the Battlegrounds?

Vega: Already do write them up in a word doc. If anything the only thing I would lose is the coding for italics and such.

Kas: Only place it's been happening to me thus far. It 'might' be related to the size of the post, but I'm just guessing there.

Are you copying the posts directly from Word, and do you have the WYSIWYG text editor turned on (eg, when you bold text, you see it bold right there) ?

I am, and I used to have it on the WYSIWYG editor, but for some reason it stopped copying my text exactly (bold and italics in word/wordpad would pause as just plain text), so I switched to a different editor (not the plain text, the other one) to see if I could get the auto bold and such back. No luck. There was another reason I changed editors...but I forget what it was now and I haven't bothered changing it back.

Don't copy direcly from Word to the WYSIWYG editor, sometimes you get dozens of smilies, and other errors when you do that. In the standard editor you can highlight text, and hit the bold button, and tags are placed around the highlighted text automatically.

Or you can do what I do, just type the tagas in manually when you write out the RP. Heh.

"Don't copy direcly from Word to the WYSIWYG editor, sometimes you get dozens of smilies, and other errors when you do that."

Then how else am I going to post my RP? I write my RP posts at work most of the time where I can't even get to these boards. Besides I believe I already mentioned my editor is not currently on WYSIWYG anyway.

That's what I do now, but my point is I didn't have to do that before. When we first started here if the text was bold in Word/wordpad and I copy/paused it into the editor it would show up exactly how I copied it in the editor itself: it doesn't do that anymore (short version: I didn't need to use tags at all, auto inserted or otherwise).

If you're not using the WYSIWYG, as you say, don't worry about it. If you are, you need to copy from Word, to something like Notepad, then to the board. The WYSIWYG editor has ... um ... 'issues' with the dynamic text stuff in Word. It's new technology, I guess. I don't know too much about it beyond, "It's ugly, I'm using the plain text box". :D

Yeah, it's a handy feature, but as I understand it, it's not exactly bug free.

Apparently so. Just for the record: when I was using the WYSIWYG editor I never got any 'random smilies, etc' when I posted. *shrug* Guess I was just lucky...*knocks on wood just to be safe*
