Its my opinion that the best way to learn is just to read other things. I remember when I first came to TGC Gash's only real suggestion to me was just to read what other people wrote especially the ones who were mods and admins.

It worked too, I know my writing quality has improved substantially and I'm sure everybody else can say the same for themselves. I think any critique especially in a forum form would not work very well because I find that there writing isn't about follow these rules. It's about finding what works best for you and gradually you will slowly improve through practise and through seeing what others had written.

This community used to teach, back when we were all learning... about the time TRF was created, we sort of got away from that and it turned into criticism.

Throughout the whole time however, the Force system was generally acting as a writing workshop. Now that we have done away with that, making a more official writing workshop isn't a bad idea. Doesn't the Astral Astoria already half serve this function though? We could just make it more official...

Grammar Nazi Moment:

Incorrect: Jan your old.

Correct: Jan you're old.
:b

Seriously though, doing something with Astral Astoria sounds like a good idea to me. I think it's something that we sort of lack here at TRF; I know most other boards I visited have something like it. I wonder though if it should be a little more open though, rather than just confining the setting to always partly include Astral Astoria.

Unfortunately, TRF members are impatient and very short in attention span... mostly.
