You have just taken your first step. Into a larger world. Obi-Wan Kenobi

As the small scout ship, flew through the majestic white tunnel of hyperspace. It's captain was busy catching up on his sleep, for almost three weeks prior to leaving he worked his butt off to repair and modify this old bird.

It was pain staking in every since of the word and almost damn near impossible. But eventually he had found a way to customize the vessel to his tastes. Though he was down to only 5,000 credits from the 13,000 he had saved up and used to buy her. Doyae never regretted purchasing the old Starfield Seeker Z-10 ship, It was his personal pathway into the stars, and no amount of cash is to great for a prize like that.

Sleeping soundly in his cabins only bunk, Doyae was dead to the galaxy around him. Dreaming of the places he would go and see in his new ship. Of course in order to explore the galaxy, he would need cash for parts and fuel; not to mention food and weapons for his trips into the unknown. Which is of course his reason for heading to the Astral Astoria space station.

From what his friends back in mos entha told him, the Astoria station was the place to go when you are starting out in the galaxy. It has everything from casinos and shopping bazaars, to Hotels and restaurants. It also has various businesses that he could hire himself out to. After all his ship was originally made to be both a scouting ship and a fast delivery cargo hauler.

He might be able to earn enough credits to add more upgrades to his ship and maybe even buy him self a 2-1B medical droid to operate his ships small medical bay. Visions of success, fame, and fortune, danced in his head causing him to smile broadly under his warm covers. But soon that smile turned into a frown as a sudden beeping noise started to break the silence that once engulfed the ship.

“ What in the name of Iego’s angels is that?” he grumbled bitterly as he slowly rose from his bed. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he suddenly remembered that he had set the ships hyperspace timer to warn him when it was time to revert back into real space.

“ I must be here.” He thought as he struggled to get his shirt on over his head. Rushing into the refresher, he quickly washed his face and finished putting on the rest of his clothes before heading to the cockpit. Taking seat in the pilot’s chair, he switched off the alarm and checked the waypoints on the nav computer. “ Looks like I made It.” He said happily to himself as he de-activated the hyperdrive.

The white tunnel that had covered the ship for the last three hours, dissolved back into the inky dark vacuum of real space. Looking out his view port window, Doyae was awed by the size and utter beauty of the Astral Astoria space station. It was larger then anything he had seen in his life before. Speechless, doyae had let his jaw drop as he gawked at the enormous station.

“ Whistle, I bet that this is bigger then the old Death Star, I read about in history class.” He said out loud. Suddenly his intercom cracked to life, followed by a loud demanding voice.

“ Unidentified craft, what his your purpose and business here?” it braked. The sudden appearance of the voice shook him out of his daze. For a moment he was stunned but he soon shook that off and switched on the coms speak button. “ Copy, This is Captain Doyae Darkstar of the Flames of Freedom. I came here to look for work and maybe a few supplies for my ship, over.” He stated.

There was a brief pause for a few seconds before the voice starting speaking again. “ Copy that, Flame. You are cleared to land in the Down port, Docking bay 371.”

“ Thank you sir. Flame out.” He said happily as he switched off the ships intercom. Placing both hands on the controls, he steered it closer toward the large station. As he got closer he noticed lights on various parts of the station, and ships of every shape and size, as they went to and from the station. Though mesmerized at first, he quickly brought his attension back to his flying and flew the ship closer to the stations tower. Once he was at the mouth of the docking bay, he turned on the autopilot and allowed the stations tractor beams to pull him inside.

As his ship floated into the cavernous hanger, he noticed a variety of starships in numerous docking spaces. Some of the ships he did recognize, others he did not, and somewhere completely strange to him. “ And I thought Mos Eisley was big.” He said with a light chuckle. “ This is going to be interesting, I wonder what the inhabitants are like?” he asked himself as he felt the ship begin to settle down. Once the Flame was settle in its designated docking bay. Doyae turned off the sublight engine and actives the repulsor jets. Slowly lowering his ship to the ground.

Once the vessel has landed gently on the floor, he begins to turn off the ships systems and heads toward the entry hatch. He stepped on to the hatch and waits for the lift to active. With a soft hiss, the lift slowly drags him out of the Flames interior and into the main hanger.

“ Well this is it.” He thought as he took one last look at his ship. “ Don’t worry girl, I’ll be back for you later.” He said reassuringly to the parked craft behind him. Pulling his backpack over his shoulders, he starts to walk toward the nearest shifter and possibly his destiny.

Astoria Bazzar

" This station is just too much." cried the young man, as he gazed around the enormous amphitheater like room. Shops and vending booths of every shape and description filled the area. Each one specialized in selling certain goods and supplies to the stations residents.

Creatures form millions of different planets pushed there way through the crowds as they rushed to their indigenous destinations. Twi’leks, Drall, Rodians, Mon-Cals, Zabraks, Humans, Wookies, Bothains, Qurren, a few few aliens he could not identify mingled with one another in the large shopping zone. Each one either selling, buying, are just browsing around the different venders. Steeping out of the shifter slowly, he takes a quick look around the area he had just arrived in before proceeding off into the large crowd. He looks back at the shifter behind him and chuckles lightly at the strange device.

“ Who would have thought they would have something like that on board.” He said with a small grin as the memory of his first experience with the device came into his minds eye.

Earlier

“ Hello there. What is your destination?”

Doyae looks up at the ceiling trying to find the source of the voice. “ Uh…I would like to go to where they are selling supplies. Please?”

Suddenly there was a flash of light that cause doyae to quickly shut his eyes. Then suddenly he found himself in a large room surrounded by dozens of creatures.

“ Whoa…”

Present

The young gargian chuckled to himself as the memory of the event played back. “ I wonder how those things work?” he thought playfully. “ I would love to have something like that one my ship. Just beam down to a planet without landing my ship and beam back up for a quick exit.” He giggled as a mental image of him transporting down onto an alien world spring into his mind. The idea sounded like fun, but in the back of his mind he knew the station probably did not sell such secrets out to the public. He sighed to himself as he let go of the fantasy and continued on his way.

“ Besides, I doubt something like that can happen in real life.” He thought. “ Sounds like something out of a bad Holo-Vid.” He added mentally with a small laugh. As he walked or rather stumbled his way through the insanely large crowd, he noticed s sign to the far right. Written in both basic and a few other alien tongues were the words “ Al’keesh’s Droid Emporium”, next to the sign were a few holos of various droid models and a large gear that floated over head.

Excited he quickly tried to make his way past the other patrons. Bumping into a few and earning a few hard stares from some and curses from others. He turned back to the offended patrons and did a quick bow before continuing on his way toward the shops entrance. When he arrived he was amazed to see several droid models on display, behind them where racks filled with replacement parts and tools. As he entred he also noted that the person behind the sales desk was a young looking twi’lek female with a bored expression on her face. By her was a proud looking Bith male, which flashed him a smile as he entered.

“ Hello there!” He practically yelled. “ Welcome to my humble shop young sir. My I help you?” he asked eagerly. Doyae was thrown off a bit by the bith’s blatant over eagerness. But he decided not to say anything about it and ask the bith a question. “ Yes, I was wondering if you have any 2-1B class medical druids for sale and if you maybe might have and R-series astromechs too?” he asked uneasily.

The young sales man..er…alien smiled broadly and gestured doyae to follow him. “ You’ve come to the right place sir. At Al’keesh’s Droid Emporium we have dozens of druids here waiting to find a home.” He said in a boastful manner. “ Just follow me down this aisle and I’ll show you are choice selections; you won’t be disappointed sir.”

" No I probably won't be." he said as he looked at a nearby model of a R2 unit that was on sale.

It had only been a few minutes since he had entered the small shop. But it had felt more like a lifetime when the salesperson had taken him on a small tour of the shop. “ No wonder that twi’lek girl is so bored.” he thought. “ I would be to if I had to listen to another minute of this guys yakking.” Even though the bith was anxious to give him the best deal he could find. Doyae found it hard not be a tad annoyed with his antics. Though he did not let it show and keep up the appearance of a awe struck yokel.

Slowly walking down the aisle, Doyae scanned the different droids models on various podiums until his eyes came to rest on two beat up looking ones in the corner. The first one a tall 2-1B model had what looked like carbon scouring on his chassis. The second one a small R2 unit had what seemed to be soot or ash around the base of its body.

Curious about the damaged looking droids, he turned to face the young sales person behind him. “ Hey, what can you tell me about those de-activated druids over there?” he asked curiously. The bith looked over his should and glanced at the two droids, then made a scoffing sound at them. “ Oh, those two where just traded here, by a rough looking gentlemen earlier. The R2 could have worked in one of the lower areas of the station by the look of it. As for the med droid, well…” he said with a shrug and raised eyebrows.

“ Seriously you don’t want to buy them sir. Now if you look over here..” he started before doyae swiftly put up his hand in a gesture that was meant to silence him. “ How much for the both of them?” he asked. The bith gave him a funny look and turned to his co-worker. She just stared blankly at him and shrugged at him helplessly. “ Sir please reconsider, I’m sure you want to buy a much better, newer, and more efficient models.”
he persuaded. Doyae looked at the bith then at the druids again. He walked closer to the pair and examined them closely. “ You know, if you let me by these two old models off your hands for oh 3,000 credits, They are an eye sore in this store after all ?” he stated hoping the sales man could see his logic. "I’ll pay your for both these eye sores and buy at least 2,000 credits worth of repair parts for them. What do you say?”

The young bith placed his left index finger over his chin, seemingly thinking over his proposal. He did not want to sell the man the droids, but he also did not want a dissatisfied customer. He looks over at the droids and then back at doyae before deciding to give his decision.

“ Hmm..You’re sure you don’t want? …”

“ Yes I am sure sir. Never been so sure in my life.” Doyae stated sternly

“ Very well sir, I’ll have Ros’kela clean these droids up for you while I select the parts you will need.” he with a defeated tone. Doyae smiled at the young bith and reached out to shake his hand. “ Thank you, thank you, thank you!” he joyfully repeated as he roughly shook the sales persons hand. “ You won’t regret this, trust me!”
