Description - The CC-7700-class Interdictor Frigate is a small ship designed as a platform for gravity well projectors. Designed to replace the out dated but still reliable CC-2200 Detainer Frigates the CC-7700 boasts better armor and shielding than its predecessor. The CC-7700 Interdictor Frigate is lightly armed, but they were not meant to be battleships. Instead, they are designed to be a platform for gravity well projectors with a mission profile similar to the Imperial Interdictor Cruiser. Gravity well projectors simulate the mass of planetary bodies, which causes the built-in safety to disable hyperdrives in nearby ships. This effectively prevents ships from entering hyperspace and leaving the area. Although it is possible to circumvent the safeties, this takes some time and increases the risk of a disastrous mis-jump. The safest way to escape an interdictor is to move out of the area of the gravity well before jumping. Defense of the cc-7700 is found in the form of a mixed weapons load. Light Turbolaser Batteries help against large capital ships while twenty four point defense laser cannons focus on incoming projectile weapons and fighters. Two tractor beam weapons aid in the capture of small vessels.
