Union - Scarab-class Droid Fighter

Scarab-Class Droid Fighter

Union Multipurpose Droid Fighter

Designed primarily to operate with the Necropolis-Class War Carrier, Scarabs are the Union's answer to a versitile, fast, and deadly starfighter that can serve multiple purposes. The fighter itself measures in at 9 meters long, housing only the necesarry fighter components and droid brain, removing the need for a larger fighter. Most Scarabs are at the manufacturing superiority fighter standard, equipped with twin ion engines powerful enough to give it the speed of a TIE Interceptor. The fighter itself is given a very slim, thin, profile to make it hard to hit and is equipped with a small shield generator.

Its standard armaments are two high powered laser cannons and usually also carries a pair of warhead launchers equipped into its wing struture. The superiority configuration of the fighter carries about eight concussion missiles for dogfights, four per launcher. However, this is not the only configuration that the Union can utilize. With some simple adjustments, a Scarab can be equipped with heavier ordinance, such as heavy rockets or proton torpedoes, though this tends to make the vessel slower, meaning superiority models have to be utilized to defend these more heavily armed ships.

The weapon bays can also be completely removed from the Scarab and replaced with bombing bays, permitting Scarabs to be used as ground support fighters by carrying out bombing runs with payloads of Proton bombs. This however, removes the Scarabs capacity to use laser cannons so often these ships require fighter escorts from superiority models even more so than heavy ordinace models do.

All Scarabs are capable of independent action, without the need for a command computer, meaning that other vessels besides Necroplises can carry them, but a Necropolis is equipped with a computer designed specifically for coordinating the fighter squadrons. However, if operating away from one, Scarabs are still capable somewhat of coordinating there moves like any fighter squadron normally could, via communication between their pilots which in this case are rather well made droid brains.
