The Missile Boat was based on the //Alpha//-class Xg-1 Star Wing, commonly referred to as the Assault Gunboat. It was designed to be a high-speed platform for heavy ordinance, with very little power devoted to energy weapons. A new engine technology allowed the Missile boat to divert its laser energy to its engines, allowing a short boost in speed, momentarily reaching and sometimes exceeding 244MGLT. It was developed about a year before Return of the Jedi and used against the traitorous Admiral Zaarin's TIE Defenders.
