I Have A Secret...

How does one go about keeping a secret, anyway? Especially when that secret was meant to share with someone else....

...Especially when sooner or later, that secret would be made to show and could no longer be hidden....

This is what Hanna's secret was like, and she needed to share it with Kahn.

After all, this was his secret too, he just did not know it yet.

Kahn's home was empty, except for Hanna's quiet presence that filled it. Kahn had left rather early this morning, leaving Hanna to awake to an empty bedroom, and no smiling face to greet her.

Kahn had left a note though, a note which brought a small smile to form Hanna's lips. He'd be back soon...

I have a secret to tell you, and I'm all so scared to say it. The secret might make you leave me...

Hanna seemed to assume the worst, ever since her encounter with Ahnk, and what had happened to both her and Kahn. She could not bring herself to always think good anymore. Her thoughts showed this.

She would have to tell Kahn, regardless of the consequences, he had to know....

The door to Kahn and Hanna's home opened, and a young man with brown hair entered. His blue eyes swept across the living room, searching for someone. He wore the simple brown robes of a Jedi, a lightsaber clipped to his belt. Kahn smiled as Hanna emerged from the bedroom, moving forward to greet her.

Training hadn't gone that long at all that day, and Kahn felt it would be alright to leave early, as his Padawans had been working hard as of late. Also, he felt slightly guilty for leaving so early that morning.

"Good-morning, Hanna. Sleep well?"

Kahn felt something through the Force suddenly, something that he couldn't quite place a finger on. Something was different about Hanna. His face turned slightly more serious, his blue eyes searching hers.

"Is everything ok?"

Hanna smiled warmly as she saw Kahn enter the living room, glad that he had arrived home early. She greeted him with a warm hug, and then lead him over to the couch after she parted from him.

"I slept just fine."

She had been smiling with warmth at him until she saw the look of seriousness cross her face. The way he was looking at her, it made her nervous, but she could not avoid her secret. Her soft brown eyes met his blue eyes, and she tried to smile, but she was scared.

"Kahn, there's something I have to tell you...."

Her hands nervously found their way to lock with his hands. She smiled again, clearing her throat before she spoke again.

"Kahn...what do you think of becoming a Daddy?"

She saw the slightly confused look that now seemed to just barely touch the features of his face.

"We're going to have a baby. What I mean is...What I am trying to say is...Kahn, I'm with child, your child...."

For a few moments, the Jedi was silent, trying to comprehend what Hanna meant. He had been taken totally by surprise, although the idea of Hanna being pregnant was not improbable. Kahn gazed into her eyes.

"My...child? So you're...we're..."

He let the sentence trail off, unable to speak in complete sentences as joy filled his heart. He enveloped Hanna in a hug once more, then pulled back. It made sense now, the odd feeling he had been getting through the Force. Except, there was one thing that Hanna did not know...something that Kahn was able to discern through use of the Light Side.

"Hanna, that's great! Except you're wrong about something. We aren't just going to have one child, Hanna. You've got twins!"

After he had realized it, it was easier now for Kahn to pick out the two separate life forms that were in Hanna. His eyes shone with happiness, a broad smile on his features.

The moments of silence on Kahn's part was innocuous, but Hanna still took his silence as a means of disapproval.

She felt completely relieved when Kahn brought her close to embrace her in a hug.

It was Hanna's turn to be caught by surprise as Kahn spoke of her not having just one child, but two. Twins! Never in her wildest dreams could Hanna ever imagine that she was going to be having twins!

"Really??"

She almost wanted not to believe him, thinking the news almost too good to be true.

Hanna laughed, it was a laugh full of happiness and nervousness.

She didn't know what to say, still caught off guard by what Kahn had discovered.

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> The Jedi laughed as well, taking her hand and placing it on her stomach, where he could sense the two lifeforms that he and Hanna had created.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"Reach out with the Force, Hanna. There's not just one life growing within you; there's two."

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> He was elated with joy, and also surprise. Kahn had always thought that he would like to be a father someday, but this was so soon, and he wasn't ready. His expression changed slightly, to show concern again.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"Umm...do I need to boil water or anything?"

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> The Jedi was intelligent, and he had learned about the ways of the galaxy through his travels. However, he was completely clueless as to how to go about caring for Hanna and the two new lives that lived within her.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

Hanna tried to do as he asked, but finding another life form within another lifeform was somewhat difficult for a Knight and a Master, let alone a padawan.

She frowned, disappointed, she only felt what any normal human felt that was not a Jedi.

"I'm sorry, Kahn. I don't feel anything."

Hanna tried not to laugh at the mention of boiling water, but she couldn't help it. Hanna did not entirely know what she was doing, but by all means, she did not have to know what to do.

Motherhood was something that was said to happen naturally.

"Well, I don't think there is anything that can be done just yet. I'm not very far along yet, I still have some ways to go."

She squeezed his hand reassuringly.

"Don't worry though, we'll get through this together. It'll all be fine, you'll see."

The Jedi had had a rather concerne and confused look on his face, until she reassured him. Then he relaxed, trusting her instincts on the matter. He wasn't surprised that she couldn't distinguish the two lives from each other; but he had figured that it was worth a try. Kahn gently kissed Hanna on the cheek.

"If you say so, Hanna, then I know it will be true. I guess you've got a few more months to go-"

He paused, a new thought occuring to him.

"How long have you known?"

Kahn really didn't mind that she hadn't told him, and the question was out of curiosity rather than an accusation.

Hanna was again surprised by Kahn, she'd never suspected such a question.

"Oh, I've only known for a few days now. I'm sorry, I wanted to tell you as soon as I found out. I just...I could not tell you, I was nervous, I did not know how you would react."

She knew his question was meant out of curiosity and nothing more, but nonetheless, she felt she needed to apologize for not telling him soon after she knew they were going to have a child.

Not only within the past few days had Hanna been contemplating in her mind how and when she would tell Kahn the news, but she was also struggling with thoughts of what name their child would be made to have. Now such a concern was made double, as they had not just one name to decide on, but two.
Hanna felt like this was a concern the two should address as a couple, even if it was not a top concern for them.

"I think we should decide on some names together. I know we don't yet know the genders of our two children yet, but I think we should at least pick out some names. What do you think? Have any ideas for some names?"

The Jedi Master had remained silent while he listened to Hanna explain why she hadn't told him the news earlier; he understood her reasons and would respect them. After an episode in the training grounds earlier, Kahn had realized just how much the ordeal with Ahnk had harmed Hanna. And he would do anything to keep that from happening again.

When she brought up the topic of naming their children, his face deepened in thought. Even with the Force, it was impossible to discern the genders of their children this early on. It was likely that the cells had not even formed that would distinguish between male or female in the new life. Still, it couldn't hurt to throw out a name or two.

Kahn really wasn't an expert on naming children; he was only just getting used to the idea of being a father. Still, some ideas had been floating around in his mind since he and Hanna had been married.

"Well...I've always thought the name Christopher would be nice for a boy. I hadn't thought of a name for a girl though."

It was natural, after all, for a male to think of a son, and a female to think of a daughter. Of course, Kahn had thought of a few names before, but none seemed to fit what he would want as a name for his daughter. That was, if they had one.
