Everyone was wrong about The Phantom Menace. It is the best Star wars ever and also one of the best movies ever.

First of all, George Lucas is a brilliant writer. This movie might not have had much to do with the original trilogy, but it modernized the Star Wars feel for the 1999-2005 period. Lucas not only got the feel right, but the dialogue was spot-on. Every character bears his or her soul in every line. The script really breaks down the barriers between the viewer and the characters. I felt like I really knew the characters and like I could have a rela conversation with them. It was all very real. Some might say too real, but they are weak.

Second, Jake Lloyd is a wonderful actor and will probably be the next Marlon Brando. The other actors were great, but he really portrayed his character perfectly. I totally believed that that kid would grow up to be the total badass that is Darth Vader. You can see the intensity in his eyes during the podracing scene. That intensity tells you he is one tough hombre.

Speaking of podracing, it was a brilliant idea. It's racing, but with car/spaceship hybrids that fly a few feet off the ground. And it was unbelievable. The cars went really fast and there were explosions and it was intense and finally Anakin won. This scene and concept were revolutionary and absolutely necessay to include. I son't care what anyone says.

Fourth, Darth Maul was a great villain. He looks badass and he has a double-bladed lightsaber. and it's red. Intimidating. But there's another layer to Darth Maul. He silent but deadly. The silence represents the silence of death, which makes sense becuase he likes to kill people. That's some deep shit, man.

Lastly, Jar Jar Binks was the greatest comic relief character ever to grace the silver screen. I've been insulted and physically assaulted for saying that, but I stand by it, dammit. His lighthearted clumsiness was the perfect juxtaposition to Anakin's intensity. Also some deep shit, man And who thought this creature up? George Lucas' son. Think about it. If this guy is already a visionary as a child, imagine what he'll be as an adult. THE GREATEST FUCKING FILMMAKER EVER!!! Oh yeah. Give it time and you'll see the magic.

It's real.

It's damn real.
