As of around 3:30 PM of this afternoon I became a proud owner of one (1) copy of the new XBox RPG Fable. Consequently, you can expect to see me on for much smaller periods of time than I normally would. For any of you who have read ANYTHING about this game, you will understand. And for those who don't...I hate you. And your family.

I apologize to all this effects (OS, Brutus). Keep in mind this will only be tempoary. Until I beat it or lose interest (HA!). So...uh, see you around, I guess.

We should start to take bets on whether he'll beat it or lose interest first!!!

Fable sounds like nothing more than Morrowind on steroids. Morrowind sucked three weeks of my life away, and I hardly scratched the story. Then my computer died, and I have yet to reinstall the game.

Maybe it's for the best.

Fable is more of an RPG for the layed-back type of person. Its not something that you spend all night locked in your basement tinkering around with. Its something that you can pick up for a couple of hours and geniuinely have a LOT of fun with.

First off, the combat system is great. Everything Morrowind lacked Fable has. I just got off a quest where I had to protect this farmhouse from a bandit raid. I kicked some bandit ass using some Firebolts and Lightning (I usually use magic). The system worked smoothly, the graphics look awesome, and I had a helluva a lot of fun doing it. Nothing like seeing your fireball slam into someone and charr them enough to change races.

The plot is pretty good. Its nothing like Morrowind, with all of the details and tiny little things that you say "Oh...OH!" to the third time doing the quest or talking to the person. Its just...a plot. And a good one to kick some ass for.

The aging thing is really cool. I was expecting something a little more gradual, but hey, I suppose you can't have EVERYTHING in a game. It'd take WAAY to long to complete. I've only been playing for about 2-4 hours, and already I'm late into my teens, possibly early twenties. That brings me to one of my only pet peeves.

The game is pretty short. Like, 16-24 hours of gameplay, or so I heard. While this is great for the type of guy who doesn't want to play and play and play nonstop until it fucks up everything else about your life, it leaves a lot lacking for those who do. However, the replayability is, of course, great. I mean, you can go evil or good or somewhere in between. Not to mention all you can do to customize your character. Haircuts and facial hair and tatoos OH MY! Plus there are three main types of weapons you can range in. Melee, Ranged, and Magic. Simple, yet complex. There are quite a few weapons and an average number of spells.

Overall, I'd say Fable is a great game if you don't go in with expectations through the roof. Fun to play, not too complex to understand, good for a casual gamer. Hardcore gamers? You might find some things that dissapoint.
