they're not the second coming critics made them out to be but it's worth a listen. i mean if you're only going to buy one cd this year i wouldn't make it that, but it has a place in any reasonable person's music collection.

or not. shut the fuck up

I know what a lot of those words mean individually: Arcade, metal, Idols, Bloc, and so forth. In this context, however, I have no idea what they mean.

seconding these. I don't have the other two so I can't comment there.

Bloc Party - listen to She's Hearing Voices and tell me you're not tapping your foot.
Arcade Fire - if you have the chance to see them live, TAKE IT. sweet jesus, take it.
BSS - Emily Haines. come ooooon.

Bloc Party have done some good stuff.

I'm quite liking the Kaiser Chiefs album, but then it is being overplayed (just a tad).

That John Legend album is pretty good too, soulful, nice to chill out to, its got a good vibe to it.

Oh and , welcome back. ;)

(hope things are going well!)

emily haines sickens me. not so much her as the look in the eyes of the hipsters who follow her scantily clad form across the stage. i guess it's not so bad when she's not performing with metric, since she generally dons functional clothing for her bss shows ...
