As some may or may not know, I have been planning to begin a slow, gradual proccess towards setting up the infrastructure to eventually deploying a system that would be responsible for overseeing those whose job would be finding the oppressed, the enslaved, etc and smuggling them safely into Coalition space. This seems to be an excellent balance of my desire to make a difference in the galaxy, facing up to the fact that there isn't much I am actually capable of doing except sitting quietly, and avoiding doing things in such a way as to be an asshole about it. Assuming I do it right, of course, which I haven't got a good track-record of doing.
One of the parts to this plan involves the use of history, knowledge, evidence, and otherwise compiling a convincing case to pierce what is - for all honest intents and purposes - thick webs of lies produced by those who oppress the people I'm looking to help. I know we can go through the whole song and dance about 'what's really propaganda' and 'who's lying', but I'd rather skip ahead to the actual conclusion of that argument, where we agree that a lot of what organizations like INS and whatever it's BDE equivalent is is tailor-made to fit the situation in the most pleasing way.
As I got to thinking this, something occured to me - how much is known in the galaxy?
For example, we who watch the movies know that Palpetine orchestrated the whole Clone Wars as an excuse to seize power, destroy the Jedi, and transform the Republic into the Empire. However, how much of that is known in the TRF Galaxy? Is there a clearly outlined case and set of evidence for this series of events? Is it just a rumour? Did everyone used to think so, and with the return of the Empire came the return of their relentless and drowning propaganda?
How much is known about the Jedi? Are the details of the Jedi purge known? Do we know where the Jedi died? Do we know anything about their death?
I can assume that once the Empire returned, with it came the propaganda that once again said the Jedi tried to kill Palpetine, the separatists were villains, and so forth. But how much is known by the actual historians not being manipulated by the Empire? How much can be proved and recorded? This will be important considering we need the actual version of events to set against the Imperial version - we can't hope to prove it's undeniably true, since the Imperial version probably has it's own 'proof' and all that, but we still need it.
